  1. Yeah just curious to whats ppl's views on stories of wharfies that thrash cars on the docks? i'm in the process of importing a car at the momment, and i've been hearing alot about the way wharfies drive the cars here on the docks. Is it something to really worry about? if so, is there anyway of avoiding it or doing anything about it?? Cheers
  2. my car didn't make it on the kiwi boat that left on the 19th or so. Been told the next kiwi boat isn't leaving till the 12th so its either waiting longer or possibly trying to get it on a boat with a different carrier. I tihnk this is mainly due to the kiwi boat thats still out of service. Whats everyone elses status with boats at the momment? i been waiting for a boat for a month or so now.
  3. my rb20det had approx 180,000ish just before it died, not actually sure of what happened, motor blew the day it was sold.
  4. LowRollaBoy i think he means 360mm from the centre of the wheel to the wheel arch, not road clearance. Sorry i can't help much oz_cefiro, sure u havn't got cut springs in there. Sounds like they are a bit tight down in SA. good luck.
  5. yeah if that many ppl already know about it and checking it out, i'm sure a few thieves or little shits with nothing to do but cause trouble won't be far away. put it in the safest spot u can. ur other cars i'm sure can be replaced alot easier then ur ceffy. although i'm a pretty paranoid person when it comes to my own car, so maybe its just me, but yes its better to be safe then sorry.
  6. yeah i'm also interested in this as i should have a cefiro here soon but unfortunatly its got the older rear lights too (attached pic below). A31_Cefiro did u find out where to get the lights from or even a rough price on them?
  7. me too.....
  8. whats a gudjon pin? i've heard of it a few times but got no idea where or what it does.... yeah well i was actually trying to sell car b4 this problem arose, so i'll see how it pans out otherwise i'll be keeping it as a project car and rip the motor out at end of november at which time i'll have a look for this gudjon pin then...hmmm
  9. i will have all what u looking for inc ecu loom and 5 speed gearbox. although one piston will need replacing (rebuild), but also got spare bare head and block. Is still running and in car, although won't have time to take it out till after my uni exams. let me know if ur interested.
  10. i will be selling all my rb20det stuff at end of november inc full working head, also got some spares. Let me know then if u still need it.
  11. i got some r32 ones if that helps. not sure if they same or not.
  12. to tell the truth, i took the car to the mechanics to get another set of lifters put in, although i asked for them to double check it was actually the lifters before they start pulling things apart, and anyway to cut it short, an hour later of friggen (i wasn't there so dunno what tests they ran, but i'm guessin compression test would be a start, plus some sorta thing to see where sound is coming from, eg block of wood or one of those tethascope things that docs have) they determined it was coming from cylinder one and defenitly in the block which they believe is a problem with the piston in cycliner one. They never actually got around to looking at the lifters afterall cept that the noise wasn't coming from them so must be alright.
  13. well an update on my situation........lifters were actualy fine. found out it was my piston in cylinder number 1. looks like i'll be getting a rb25 after all now.....hmm just gotta start saving
  14. Bump....had a few people interested so far.....although no one layed down a firm offer as of yet........
  15. i got 4 full complete spare doors from a R32 sedan. i'm sure i could spare (at a price of coarse) a electric window motor from one. I'm located in Glen Waverley. PM me if ur interested. or email me on [email protected]
  16. NISDATA scan tool. Theres a dude on the forums selling them on the forums. I pretty sure it shows ya timing changes. Mine got looked at when i took it to XTC workshop and they connected up their laptop to my diagnostic port just under the dash, there software showed all the realtime figues and numbers of everything inc timing.
  17. the more i listen to that sound file NewKleer, it does sound a tad different to the noise i'm getting on my car although hard to tell via a sound file.
  18. yeah it is actually a pretty big task. just spoke to my mate who knows a fair bit about mechanics. basically harmonic balancer, timing belt, cams all need to be removed. which in that case cos the difficulty getting the harmonic balancer off, its easier to remove the radiator aswel. so yeah u were right on that gtst25. hmm i'm just summing up if i want to tackle the task with my mates or take it to a workshop. well i've done a engine oil flush already which made a small difference awhile back and also put alot thicker oil in, but now have decieded just to replace them. Actually found a ripper deal and got a near bare head with all 24 good condition lifters still in it. Thanks Meggala!! Was gonna get new ones till i found out the price of them.
  19. hmmm i was also getting that problem with my GTST. Mine was running a auto computer and had since had a manual conversion and was also getting that same error. although i've since had the computer remapped and haven't noticed any problems while driving. If i got some time i might go see if i'm still getting that error code, but i doubt it cos the whole ROM of the computer was cleared for the remap and from what i understand should be running like a manual computer now.
  20. oh and btw how do ya test which ones are buggered?, i got a feeling the noise if from the front of the motor, so do i replace all towards the front or what?..........its also for a RB20DET. forgot to mention this.....
  21. Well for the last few weeks recently i've been getting alot of ticking from my motor, espec when cold. Took it to my local mechanic who confirmed my suspision that the lifters were buggered, or possibly something else in the head. Well anyway i've now got myself some more lifters and just curious of the process to replace/ change them over???? i know i gotta remove the rocker covers, then those upside down hoop things with the bolts in them, (can't remember name of them). From that take the old lifters out? bleed new ones? (using wire or somethign in bucket of oil?) and put them in and everythign else back together and thats it? or is there more??? if someones done this before, some help and advice would be much appreciated. cheers Ben
  22. Bump!, also with note that i'm now going to consider the highest offer i get over $12,500 and also getting some better qaulity pics up soon. PM me if ya want them sent to ya
  23. yeah that crossed my mind. would be alot of friggen around for somthing like that.espec relocating the pillar. would be more a show car then a go car i and more hassel then its worth......
  24. well i was bored last night......and had the idea of it. it would indeed be very impractical, wouldn't argue that. although the different pimp look is sweet i think, even better with a body kit and some rims. The biggest thing though i don't like is the short doors on it. looks outa place. oh well. guess if i sell my car soon anyway i'll be back to been a coupe driver with a silvia, 180 or another 32.
