Has anyone seen the advertisment on TV with a preview of whats comin up on Today tonight (i think this coming monday night) about how the cops are tackling the hoons on the road? Whats the bet that they are gonna portray some ridiculous story claiming everyone with hotted up cars including Imports are causing danger and chaos. No doubt that there is some crazy shiet at nights on the roads like the organised street drags. But i hate it how the mojority of all the car community are gonna get more stereotyped cause of stupid publicity and stories like this.

yeah but just make sure the pod is secured well. if its just floppin around loosly, then you might get some attention drawn to it. And by the way whats a HID?

Welll i finally got around to trying to diagnose a stalling, running rough symptom i've been having with my car which caused me not drive it for the last week. well luckly its been the first thing i've checked was the AFM i disconnected it and tried running the car to see if the idle would still be rough, and it ended up idleing fine which has made me believe the AFM is at fault. I've also swapped it with a mates AFM which ran pretty much fine. The AFM which l think is the problem is from a Non Turbo r32 but still has green label. Would that be the reason its messing up or is it just stuffed?? Does anyone know the model number of the rb20det AFM so i can double check its the same? I tried giving it a clean with the CFC contact lense cleaner which helped slightly but not fully.

Yeah i'd have to also agree with this. I've seen and driven it myself and can vouch that its a extremely clean and well maintained car and drives great. Good luck dude. Ben -
nah no problems with mine dude, i know it might sound simple, but have you checked that its been bolted on the correct way where it joins to the chassis at the bottom of the seat?
-
yeah i got a R32 sedan - blue and manual
-
well i found this page http://www.gt-skyline.net/maintenance/aac.html which has some sort of description. Would another way of testing it be like an AFM where u can disconect it and see if it runs more stable? or what? and would that be with both plugs undone, i'm guessing its the same on the R32, haven't looked at mine yet as i'm at uni
-
does that control the idle speed or the idle mixtures? cos i haven't heard of that before.
-
.....well i've had a few problems as mentioned in my Other Thread I've been told to clean the AAC valve. Well i understand its located at the back of the plenum, and bleeds air into the plenum to maintain the correct idle speed. But what exactly does it look like? (pics would be good) and how do i go about cleaning and adjusting it or testing if its faulty. never really knew about them till recently, so full detail would be nice. thanks ben

Idle Problems And Hesitating - R32 Skyline
BenA31 replied to BenA31's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
well today the problem got worse. tried to start car up for work....well it cranked over fine then just kept on stalling. And each time i noticed that it would idle alirght for a little then as the vacuum pressure/level just dropped down to zero it dyed. I opened up the bonnet and tryed to keep it running by giving it some gas constantly, and it sounded like it was leaking/hissing from the pipe goin from the plennum to intercooler whenever i gave it some gas. is the hissing normal or obvoiusly a leak causing it to act crap? couldn't feel air coming out. Also was backfiring and popping heaps. Anyone able to help me out or point me in some sort of direction??? i'm starting to feel as though it may not be the temp sensor but a leak or timing... -
Idle Problems And Hesitating - R32 Skyline

no, well not in the case with my car, it has two different sensors basically right next to each other, one for the computer and the other for the temp gauge on the dash. -
Idle Problems And Hesitating - R32 Skyline
BenA31 replied to BenA31's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
you mean the plastic wiring conduct of the coolant sesor? cos my whole loom has been replaced including the the coolant sensor a few months back due to computer change over from stock one. It doesn't have any wiring conduct around it any more and from what i remember there isn't any resistors in the wiring. But i'll check it out. -
I've been having a few idleing problems with my rb20det on the occation over the last few months. Somtimes it will run fine and idle is stable with boost gauge reading 18-19 Vac. But then somtimes i start it up or come to the lights and it will start droping in revs and nearly stalling with vacuum goin to about 10-15ish. Also whenever this problem arises and the car is driving it starts to hesitate alot. I've done a ECU diagnostic check and it came up with fault 13 i think it was which was to do with the coolant temp sensor. I've checked the conection and seems to be alright. Has anyone else ever had this problem? I've already checked for Vacuum leaks in hoses and piping but found none. AFM looks clean too. i don't know if to replace the coolant sensor sensor(is it same as water sensor) or start checking elsewhere like O2 sensors , timing, EGR VALVE (if rb20, has one??), Coil Packs etc any suggestions. sorry for long post.
