  1. If it's rainining when I get up. I'm throwing the gemini on a trailer and filling out an entry form to bring down. I couldn't sit by and watch you guys have all the fun.
  2. How are you getting both cars down to the island James? Do you need a second driver?
  3. CAMS Level 2 Speed License can be found here: http://www.cams.com.au/downloads/paperform...Application.pdf Fill out and mail to CAMS member services PO BOX on the form along with Credit card details.
  4. Autosport - 194 Bayswater Rd Bayswater North 3153 (03) 9720 2144
  5. RE: The Blue Battery Triangles. If you forget or can't get to a race shop during business hours. Just get some blue electrical tape and make a triangle. This will also pass. Also I believe the harness required for modified class is a WRX Club rule not a CAMS rule at this stage. But this is for your own good, as your life is worth a lot more than the harness and it's definatly a good thing to have and encourage others to have regardless of what class.
  6. Yeah come down in the morning lowthy, we'll get you on. We can do an EVO comparison at the end of the day.
  7. Come on guys this is for a really good cause. We know there are a lot of events on it a year, but this is one we should try and give our support to and help those who support others in need. I'm sure they wont mind if you bring a friend or a non Skyline along, as long as it's an interesting car.
  8. Also not taken as an argument. I'd much prefer you guys ask questions and we are all on the same page. Does this make better sense now? Feel free to ask any question's. No question is too silly.
  9. The two mods out of the three put you into Modified Class. Noted, But you can replace just the pump and this is why we allow this. We understand that fuel system component wear out, and please let me try to explain why we have done it this way. Ideally we don't want to punish anyone who has worn out fuel system components and has upgraded rather than replaced with standard as would be the case with most of us. Which is why we allow replacement of any one of these items with an upgraded item. We also understand that these mods are often done for safety reasons which again is why we allow this. But our thinking was that to make a lot more power than standard, the fuel delivery system will need to be upgraded at a certain point across the board. So in our minds this was the fairest way to allow some fuel system replacements for old items, but have a cut off point because replacing the lot will allow for a much higher power output. I have modified the text on the first page in the hope to make it clearer. "Fuel Systems - Any two out of the following four modifications to either: 1.Injectors, 2.Fuel Pump, 3.Non Nissan OEM Turbo's, or 4.A fuel pressure modification will put you into modified class. (I.E - Only one fuel system mod is allowed)"
  10. Nathan, I would expect that you could aim for 1m57's - 2m providing you dont have a speed limiter and your R-compounds are in good condition. Sorta depends on how crazy you are, as Phillip Island requires big kahoona's for first time drivers to break 2m. (This is how we came up with the two ball sport thing for team wang.) The WRX club did specify in 2006 that they wanted all cars in modified class to run a 4-point harness. The semi's put you in modified class for the SAU championship, so I think the answer will be yes. But goto them for furthur clarification if you definatly want to run without one. I would get in contact with the scrutineer for the event, because the motorsport director may not have that information as she is new to her role.
  11. I would say do DT again at Phillip Island, it realy is a high speed track and you need to see what speeds to slow down to and where to slow down and turn in, as a mistake at the island can be a big mistake. Plus you'll get more out of the island and get confidence up quicker with someone helping you.
  12. A few people have asked the question in regards to doing doing Phillip Island sprints as your first event. The official answer from the WRX Club is: You can do driver training at Phillip Island as your first event You can do driver training and if your instructor believes you are skilled enough he can allow you to participate in sprints. If Phillip Island is your first 'sprint' event you will need to provide details of an advanced driver training certificate.
  13. The WRX motorsport committee have made a change in regards to driver training. They would like all driver trainers to allow an instructor to drive their car for their first time on every track. This is to give the owner of the car a better understanding of the lines and braking points. Having done driver training myself, I think this is a good idea, as it's quiet hard to tell someone where they should be driving and braking and at what speed's that should be done, but much easier to show them. Also a message from the motorsport director:- If you don't yet have your CAMS licence, please get in touch with CAMS to arrange this prior to arriving on the day of the event, as the WRX club wont have people avaliable to help you out with this on the day.
  14. Sorry ziad, Al is right. Most of the time spent is getting the car onto the dyno and strapping it down. However if we have time at the end of the day Ray said he will be happy to take an extra $10 off ya for another run. I think this is more than reasonable.
  15. Yep still 15 or so dyno spots left. Tell us some more about this sigma...
  16. Until the club grows substantially we will need to fit 'other' vehicles into the existing classes as best we can. If it's on street tyres with less than three fuel system mods then it will be standard. Anything else is modified. All othe mods are essentially free except for full cage's and extreme lightening of a vehicle. (Fibre panels, no interior at all, etc) We will asses each vehicle on it's merits, but we should be able to fit into a reasoably similar class.
  17. Thanks doxx & brother in-law, Very generous offer. We will keep you in mind once the project is nearing completion and requires paint. Where abouts is the booth located?
  18. Boxes of these for when he can't beat his PB and his car goes bwhaaah, bwhaaah, brrrrrrp, BANG!
  19. Aren't you supposed to be saving for an OS holiday?
  20. Cool. Does that = Mk1 Cortini on the dyno?
  21. Or even better the MetallicA song.. Click Anyway should be ok can tow with the 3.5 cylinder gemini. Still faster and safer than the Russian Tank.
  22. Also Gadg / Scott, I have these 2x 4-burners at my place and Adz has 2x BBQ's plus the trailer. I want to tow the lot over to the factory soon. Will someone be at the factory on Sat morning?
  23. I have some neons as well. I'm never going to need them on the track.. so donate. FYI - Gadg owns Provex. He has control over this project, and as an SAU Supporter / Sponsor he will be donating his time and workshop for this project. Therefore tools / welders aren't required. But wiring / spray paiting is something we will need. Provex are very capable with all metalwork skills. SAU members just need to donate some parts and ideas and perhaps some time if Gadg needs. I say we need to give it a big stereo and a mini-bar or ice box.
  24. Haven't Updated my times for a while. Winton - 1m35.5 Winton - 1m34.8 (Snowy's R34 GTR) Sandown - 1m21.3 Phillip Island - 1m50.1 Calder Park - 1m07.1 Wakefield Park - 1m08 - Nokia Phone Timing Eastern Creek - 1m49.1
  25. Yep rock up and pay Ray $35. BBQ is free for members. The following Sat is Phillip Island (31st) But no SAU/WRX track days on the 24th. Dunno about other clubs thou.
