Looks like WA plates. The dude has made a boo-boo. Would be good if someone who knows what's what could meet him in person and give him a few pointers. I'd happily do it but haven't got any plans to travel to WA anytime soon, and by soon I mean ever.

Diamond Creek police have a brand new black marked Chrysler 300c SRT as a chase vehicle.

This used to be the case but as part of the various Free Trade Agreements made under Howard (and pursued by Labor), these rules had to go. Forcing Government employees to purchase local is considered protectionism which is BAAAAAAAD apparently. Of course, we didn't, nay couldn't, force this upon our fellow FTA friends cause we don't have the bargaining power, but we'll happily let our industry die due to it. The US still have these rules in place as well as many other rules excluding Australian products from being imported as well as subsidies for their local industries, however this is apparently "Free Trade". As for money for the car industry, it's a necessary evil. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people employed in the car industry chain. And on top of that we pay very little compared to pretty much every other country which manufacturers cars. The next 6 months will be interesting. Abbott decried the money going to Ford and Holden as wasteful. Has he painted himself into a corner or will he simply bullshit his way out of it and hand them cash anyway? Oh, and the point made earlier regarding Toyota, Ford, Holden and Toyota share many components made locally. Those component manufacturers can only continue manufacturing as long as the volume is high enough. Take Holden out of the picture and many of those companies won't be able to survive based on Toyota volumes alone so they go to the wall meaning Toyota can no longer source parts locally leaving them high and dry.

I've just added a Thermaltake Extreme 2.0 water cooler and a 250Gb Samsung 840 SSD to my system. I've not got 430Gb or SSD installed The TE2.0 is pretty sweet. I didn't do any before and after but probably should have. It's also surprisingly quite. I was expecting it to be loud but it's not, even under load.

i like the white ones. Do any of them come in tge right offset for a Stag?
-
Holy shit. I'm no expert but for 450 at the wheels (with 500 potentially possible) that thing looks mighty responsive. Of course it's tardy, but to be ramping hard from under 4k suggests it's not the undriveable lag monster one might assume. Did you drive it on the road, Stao? Got any pics of it installed?

I've used quite a few Samsungs, OCZs, Corsairs and Sandisks in the PCs at work and at home (I have an OCZ (120gb), Samsung (250gb) and Corsair (60gb) in my home PC) I've also rolled out about 20 sammy and sandisks at work. The Corsair let me down about 2 weeks after I bought it, however it was an early one ($180 for 69gb - had it about 2.5 years). The OCZ has given me trouble not wanting to be detected by my mobo. The sammys and sandisks have been flawless thus far. Most SSDs these days are fine although the Samsung, Sandisk, Crucial and Intel ones seem to be slightly better, reliability wise. Speed wise they are much of a muchness. https://www.centrecom.com.au/samsung-840-250gb-mz-7td250bw-25-ssd - that's some good buying.

Need A New Turbo! What Do I Buy?
Cowboy1600 replied to 2000 RS's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
^ What those two said. I struggle to believe that you were after sound advice when you started this thread. You seemingly ignored the almost unanimous advice handed out which leaves people scratching their heads and wondering what was the point of the thread in the first place. That in turn leads to scorn cause, well, what was the point of it all? But at the end of the day do whatever you want to. I'm sure you'll be happy with the result of the 3076. Just don't get sand in your vagina when we go off track cause the thread is essentially over. -
Need A New Turbo! What Do I Buy?

I think the tuner has run out of magic fairy powder for his dyno. He's waiting for some fairies to shed their skin at the bottom of his garden so his dyno can conjure up impressive numbers again. He doesn't waste fairy dust on HG turbos, hence the poor numbers. -
FYI - anyone in Melb looking for a towbar for a C34 - Locsed products in Ringwood is the go. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/427258-eoi-c34-towbars-in-melb/page-2

So, anyone else had a towbar fitted yet? Thoughts? I actually used mine on the weekend. I felt so manly!

That thing is faaaaaarken nice. Congrats.

Ho-lee-f*k! That's mental. I'd love to drive it on the street Licence would be gone in a second but the tyre smoke just beforehand would be epic. That's pump fuel and low mount?

The Irony That Is Copied/fake Wheels
Cowboy1600 replied to R31Nismoid's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I'm no expert on this matter, but I think there needs to be disambiguation between fake wheels and copied wheels. From what i know Rota copy wheels designs. I don't see any problem with copying wheel designs so long as they are quality. From my limited experience Rota seems fine, quality wise. Sure there are pictures of broken ones around but for every broken one how many have copped years of track abuse with no problems? Also how many of those busted wheels are due to external factors not associated with the manufacturing process? Fake would be wheels not made by the original manufacturer but begin passed off as originals. I've rarely seen that anything which falls into this category, not just rims, that are anything other than shit quality. It's these fakes that people should be wary of. -

4bidn1 said it well. No ones hatin'. You asked a question, got an almost unanimous response, then ignored it anyway. I'm not sure if you've spent some time in the HG thread in, but go have a look at the results Stao and many others are getting. And more importantly have a look at the times some people are running, including Stao. They correlate with the stated horsepower very closely. What I take from that is Staos products are no bullshit. They work terrifically well, take massive abuse, put out the power Stao claims and all at around 60% the price of a Garrett equivalent. Stao invests massive amounts of time and money into developing turbos for RBs and the results speak for themselves. -

What figures do they get on their Garrett range? Just on that, are you buying the turbo from them? -

Cowboy1600 replied to 2000 RS's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
And mechanic so strongly in favour of one turbo over another (when the one he's against is arguably the best choice) isn't a mechanic worth taking your car to. Seriously, for what you want I doubt you'll find a better turbo than a HG. There are lots of results out there which demonstrate how perfect HGs are for RBs. If your mechanic isn't confident using one, then he has a problem, not the turbo. I vote find a new mechanic -
Mandatory penalties are bullshit. Murderers still get their day in court and judges are able to apply discretion, yet a victimless crime gets a set punishment regardless of degree. People busted speeding should receive a penalty appropriate to the "crime"".

Why you would consider anything but a Hypergear is beyond me TBH. Stao has achieved some fantastic results and there is nothing in the same league dollar for dollar. And the support available, from Stao and others who have fitted HG turbos, is second to none and very evident in the HG turbos thread. I was all set to shoot for 300awkw using an ATR43G3 until some bastard stole my motorbike My tax return had to go to replacing it instead.
