  1. I've been playing with the Beta and I like it. I'll probably update fairly soon after release. Microsoft got it right with Win 7 with not only a brilliant OS but a fairly bug free and smooth transition from Vista. I'm banking on them nailing it again with 8. There's a good chance Win 8 will see me move back to Nokia phones running Win 8, too, although this isn't 100% at the moment. I will wait for some feedback on the whole ecosystem first.
  2. Well, actually it's not going to be subjective. 2011 GTR - 0-200 in ~11.1 seconds - http://www.germancarforum.com/community/threads/first-performance-test-2011-nissan-gt-r.36376/ 2006 Gixxer 1000 - ~5.5 seconds - http://www.firstpost.com/topic/organization/suzuki-motor-gsxr-1000-k6-0-250-kmh-acceleration-test-gopro-hd-video-4VrYvYUoC08-85101-9.html That's objective. And it's possible to miss a gear on the bike, not so in a GTR, meaning you need some semblance of skill to do it. Also - - the GTR got the jump and still got spanked in the first race.
  3. Precisely. 365awkw is somewhere in the vicinity of 600hp. That's 70 more than an R35 and in a car which is some 300+kg lighter than an R35. A newish Gixxer 1000 should school a GTR from 60-250ish. From there the R35 stomps the gixxer.
  4. I've been riding for 16 years and am yet to meet a single person who rides in shorts and a tshirt who knows how to bang.
  5. Pretty sure Telstra is Band 3 which the iP5 works on. Would be simply hilarious if it didn't. But I'm fairly certain it does. Don't know about the Optarse or Vodafail networks.
  6. It's also about 10,000 Telstra 3g towers plays 1,000 Telstra 4g towers. One issue with 4G though it that the spectrum doesn't have the same ability to penetrate buildings as the 3G spectrum so I usually only get 3G when on the crapper
  7. My HTC Velocity has a removable battery, so why is it not an issue that can be raised any longer? Talk/Standby is creamed by the S3, but you're right, all smartphone batteries are rubbish (or moreso that the power of phones compared to physical limitations of batteries are incompatible). The sooner the manufacturers stop competing to be "thinner and slimmer" the better. The screen will be more fragile. It's made of the same stuff, only bigger. Bigger will mean more fragile. Propriety connector means you can't just grab a micro USB and go for your life. That's a PITA. We have dozens of iphones in my workplace but it's still a PITA for people to find a charger when they need one. Not so for the Android (and micro USB) users. Propriety software is godawful, too. Price/schmice, who doesn't get a phone on a plan these days? I've got a 4.5" screen and it's spot on for size. It's still usable one handed which I think is the best measure of a phone. Once you have to use it two handed, you may as well get a tablet.
  8. Why don't you replace the battery in your S2? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2500mAh-Extended-Slim-High-Capacity-Battery-Samsung-Galaxy-S-2-II-i9100-/320974647038?pt=AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item4abb946efe#ht_2458wt_1163
  9. as an aside to the above, him not having a licence would not be a factor in determining fault. If you were the at fault driver, youc're still at fault even if the other driver has no licence.
  10. It must be mentioned that the guy on the bike has got no stick and to make a GTR go fast from 60ks takes no skill whatsoever. Put me up against a GTR on my R1 and it'll be close to 120 then I'll stomp it to 250ish then The GTR will start to catch me once we pass ~260-270kph and I'll hit a wall at ~290 where as the GTR will be leaving me at ~30kph and I won't see it again till it gets bored and slows down. I doubt that race hit 250 so the gixxer should have been comfortably in front but I have a feeling the dude in shorts and a tshirt hasn't got much of a clue.
  11. To expand a little on why warming up on idle is bad, at idle (even 2000rpm) your oil pump isn't moving a lot of oil meaning poor supply to the top of the engine which in turn leads to poor oil circulation to everything else which in turn leads to increased wear.
  12. If you were going to sell it anyway, then yeah, no better time to do it when you're off the road.
  13. I am disappoint. Turned off the AK filter. Not digging it.
  14. Telstra has over 500,000 4G users on their limited network at the moment. Speeds have dropped since I first got my phone but they have settled pretty well at 15/15 solid with the odd spike up to in excess of 30 and the rare drop down to perhaps 12. And more importantly, I can use my phone in the middle of the day in the middle of the city. The 3G network is so completely congested that's it's pot luck whether or not you are able to get anything at all at lunchtime.
  15. They don't need to 1-up Samsung cause they know 50,000,000 sheeple will buy one before the end of the year regardless. I reckon they are leaking the more tech savvy to Samsung and HTC though. That will account for a large percentage of their market and, more importantly, are the people that teh sheep go to for advice.
  16. So it costs you $800 to keep it vs the headf**k associated with selling a car which you've probably spent a lot of money on which you will not get back and then the headf**k and expense of buying another one. f**k that. Selling a car cause you have no license for 6 months is a retarded idea, IMO.
  17. Yeah right, and miss out on that $500 interest you might earn. You'd lose that in Stamp Duty when buying a car to replace the one you sold.
  18. 4G FTW. This was at about 12:30 on a weekday in the middle of the Melb CBD when 3G is practically useless.
  19. im in. will.be on in aboot an hour.
  20. 1 month 25-34 6 months 35-44 12 months 45+
  21. Won't get off for 23 over. That's only 2kph off a 1 month train holiday.
  22. Brilliant. Still flawless and still impresses the shit out of me everytime I use it. And you're right on the RAID of SSDs. Total waste of time. Not only do you lose TRIM, but at the end of the day there are other parts of your PC which are going to bottleneck 1Gb/s sequential read/write speeds. Even half that in random read/write is going to go to waste.
  23. That's one thing I hear a lot from the iSheep "the OS is easier to use". Seriously, if Android is difficult, you need to go back to a rotary dial phone. And of course it's going to have a new gen chip, it's 6 months behind it's competitors. What dipshit would release a phone today with a non-latest gen CPU? That's not much of a claim to fame. "We just released a new phone and lo and behold it's got the latest CPU in it!" Just as Samsung, HTC and Nokia did when they released their phones.
  24. Oooh, look, Apple just released an HTC Velocity. Wow, I'm impressed. Anyone know when I'll be able to pick up an iPhone 6?
  25. I got done foe 23 over yesterday on the way home. $283 and 3 points. My first fine in over 10 years! He could have done me for crossing unbroken line and no sticker on my helmet, but he "gave me a warning" about those. With what I've gotten away with over the past 10 years, I'll take that one on the chin.
