I are a Mac convert! Not. I am, however, now using a Mac at work. We had a spare 24" iMac so I snaffled it. Why? Cause it's got a 24" 1920x1200 monitor (instead of a 22 @ 1920x1080), so why the hell not? Also go t a fresh install of Win 7

Do it. Get a Nistune and go to 10psi. You'll get noticeable more poke and your clutch etc will be find. Later down the track you can do some more mods and you'll already have the hard part (the ECU) done and ready to be tuned.

Do you have the ability to open up stock manifolds? If so, why not try and source say five stock manifolds, prep them and then sell them as part of a kit on an exchange basis? Charge people an extra $100 that you'll refund once they send in their stock manifold. Might be easier and a shed load cheaper than trying to get your own steam pipe manifold sorted? Just a thought.

What's the verdict on opening up the stock exhaust manifold a bit? Possible? Useful? Or is that for another thread?

Choice. I'm in and I'll likely have at least one other. Do we have a Vent/Teamspeak server?
-
The 16th or 23rd? Either way, I'm down. Say 7pm? Do we want to join as a Party and try and actually organise some kind of squad, or just run around like mad dream boats killin' shit (and being killed)?

Skyline R33 & R34 Parts Clear Out
Cowboy1600 replied to delcdrive's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
How much for the spacers posted to 3099? That is assuming you're not in Melb. Also your username isn't coming up in MyWorld. -
Wheels Sticking Out Of Arches. Illegal?
Cowboy1600 replied to ishyz34's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Thing is, if a copper pulls you over for the wheels he'll likely go over the whole car and you'll end up not only having to change the wheels but every other little thing he finds. If the copper feels like being nasty he can give you a Major defect which is a PITA to clear. And poke looks homo. -
Wheels Sticking Out Of Arches. Illegal?

Take the car off the wheels and put a car on them where they won't stick out? -
That's bullshit. Saying "you're getting a good price so don't expect good service" is a cop out. Look at how Stao deals with his clients. I reckon he's providing a top notch product at a very good price with mind bendingly good service to boot. After what I've read here about his shitty service I won't be contemplating buying his products. And I am in the market for a 250-300kwish bolt on for an RB25. I buy stuff from eBay a lot and have rarely receive anything but A+ service and have been happy to say so in my feedback. I've also told it how it is on the rare occasion that the service hasn't been that forthcoming.

I don't do any photo stuff, but it's fast, bright, colour true (as far as I can tell) so hell yeah, I can't see why it would be anything other than shit hot for photoshop and lightroom. It's every bit as good as the 27" iMacs our developers at my work use. Look carefully at your Avatar and you can see the difference, especially around the front bumper. It's much more pronounced when I look at the image on my 24 and then move it to the 27 but you'll lose it because your monitor is likely 1920x1080. Catleap BenQ

So I have a "C" which is not OCable. I'm not terribly bothered cause my monitor rocks. To anyone thinking about it, go for it.

I'm signed up for the Melbourne one. Saturday 8:00am start. Had about 3 months away from the gym. Got back into it yesterday and feck am I sore! Who else is doing it in Melb on Sat?

Let Me Know What Your Opinion Is
Cowboy1600 replied to Skyline_034's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Meh, I'd walk away. While it's not terribly difficult to sort this scenario (it can be a bit of a clusterfvck though), as Terry said it's a buyers market so if he's not willing to put in the ground work then stuff him. It does also seem a bit fishy that he's trying to move a car but unwilling to get an RWC on it. He's either not that keen to sell it, only been trying for a few weeks and think he'll shift it easily or he's dodgy. Either way, there are plenty of cars and sellers out there who do not conform to these points and will therefore be far more willing to assist in getting the sale done and dusted. I'd walk away. -
So you've just put on a $200 head gasket but didn't do the valve stems while the head was off? K.
-
In other words I'm probably right. Yes, technically you can do it with the head on, but who does?

Dang, I've been playing the Arma II demo and have to say, it sucks. First mission running up off the beach. Creep up slowly, using houses for cover. Peek around corner, scan for enemy, nothing there. Move up to next house slowly, look around, can't see....oh I'm dead. Where is he? Tell my troops I'm hit....they are going to rescue me....waiting, waiting, waiting, tell them I'm dying. They're on their way! Waiting, waiting, waiting. Scan around look for the dude who shot me...no where to be seen....still waiting.....Esc, Restart Mission. Rinse, repeat. I'm yet to shoot a bad guy yet have died about 7-8 times thus far. And the controls are horrible although that's something which will improve with practice I suppose, like all games.

Valve stem seals means head off. In reality leaky valve stem seals won't do any damage (at least in your case as it seems not too bad.. They'll just progressively get worse until such time as it smokes a lot more or all the time and then it needs to be fixed. I'm not sure how hard it is to get the head off an RB as I've not done one, but once off, barring any weird RB specific oddity, the seals might be maybe $100 or so and the work to actually fit them might be 4 hours (that's a pretty rough guesstimate). Of course, if it were me, with the head off and the valve train off it would be hard to resist giving the head a through going over. As for turbo seals, that's a tougher one. That means turbo off and either a "back to stock" rebuild for $500+ or replace with something tastier for $1000+ plus required supporting mods. TBH it sounds to me more like valve stem seals rather than turbo. I think if it was the turbo it would produce more smoke under load.

Plexus > all. It removes everything and leaves a streak free polish behind. It's pretty much all I use. Every third or fourth clean I'll give it a full sponge and soap bath but in between I'll touch it up with Plexus and a microfibre cloth. You can use it on everything too, glass, plastic, paint, stickers. It removes oil, grease, chain lube, brake dust. Would be a bit tough and expensive to use on the chain, however

I see REQIEM and AFIRST almost daily. AFIRST usually on the Eastern @ ~5:15-5:30 and REQIEM usually somewhere between Heidelberg and Yallambie @5:30-5:45. I've given you guys the odd g'day rev as I split past you I'm on the red/white R1 with Ventura rack and bag and Icon Variant helmet that you've no doubt seen and thought "what a f**king mad prick" as I piss off into the distance unencumbered by peak hour

Blind_elk is right. Warming up vehicles, especially ones that rev, is a very bad idea. Generally at idle the oil pump isn't pushing a great deal of oil around and there's not much temp increase which means it takes longer to get oil everywhere and also up to temp. Start car, let idle for 30 seconds then get driving. Idling a cold car for 15 minutes is a great way to destroy rings and valve stem seals.
