  1. Actually, I have. My 33 was a typical 11psi, FMIC, exhaust and pretty healthy. I had china specials on the back and traction was never an issue. I could light up the rears in first and a tiny chip/squirm into second if I wanted, but by christ I had to be pumping it pretty friggin' hard. Pull back to 95%, which is sensible if it's your daily, and traction was not an issue.
  2. In all honesty Toyota deserve to sell a billion of these things on price alone. You just know it's going to be a great little car (engine notwithstanding) and to sell them for $30k is worthy of great praise. Good on 'em.
  3. It comes down to how much power your car is putting down and how serious you are. Do you have a 185kw, FMIC, exhaust, filter car or a 300kw, GT3076 + supporting mods car or a 350+, forged, gt35 + all the fruit car? If it's 185, a warm up is pointless, traction won't be an issue. If it's ~300ish then it might be of use you're running street tyres, but in reality you'll do better simply managing your throttle and clutch better. If it's the last option, then I would expect you are running slicks and intend on launching hard and a warm up burn out is definitely beneficial (if not slicks then no amount of street tyre burnout is going to stop you wheel spinning for a good portion of the race). So, in conclusion, I'm going to bet your running moderate power on street tyres which means a pre race burnout is going to give very limited benefit. But do one anyway, cause they are fun
  4. There are a few SAUers from that side. I can go take a squizz after work one day if no one else puts their hand up. I reckon she'll change her mind re the wheels once she sees them. If not, I'll take em as a fee for my inspection service They'd look t!ts on my Stag! As for "quickness" it's all relative really. I'd be surprised if they wouldn't keep up with an R33/34/Rex/SS/XR8 so on and so forth. EDIT: on second look, the wheels, suspension and exhaust are not included in the sale. I'd defo negotiate the inclusion -"$42k with extras, have cash, will buy" kinda thing.
  5. That is a bargain. Well done Toyota. Now fix it by putting a high revving 2L straight 4 into it
  6. Looks seriously neat. Should be able to knock a grand or two off the price. I paid $10k for a manual in similar condition with 120k ks + a heap of fruit last year.
  7. I see that car almost daily. Usually on the Eastern as I scoot past while he's stuck in traffic
  8. The G37s are hot. The CVTs can be a touch fragile though, I think, and they are silly expensive to replace. I don't think you would ever want to track one. Black > all other colours.
  9. 245/40/18s? Price for 4x?
  10. Treadly! I wish I could do it in 45 More like 2 hours A bit of a hint for you.
  11. I can't decide if I like it or if it's "meh". I certainly don't dislike the styling. I still hate the idea of a boxer, however.
  12. 30 minutes from crn of Elgin and Lygon to Coles on Toorak Rd in peak hour? Only on a builders RDO and if you get really lucky. I'd say more like 40-45 on average and if shit happens somewhere along the route more like an hour. But either way, I'd rather spend 35 minutes vegging out on my Xoom on public transport than 35 minutes battling peak hour traffic. It would also work out far cheaper. It's all zone 1 so that's not even $7 a day. Yep, I do Hurstbridge to Collins St (business end) in ~45 mins.
  13. Then don't worry about changing your tyre pressure. You won't have any traction issues.
  14. How many whorespower is your car running?
  15. Yeah, I can't see space savers getting through scrutineering.
  16. Why would "they" say he has to run skinny front tyres? That makes no sense. He could, but they are rated for 80kph. Is he intending on running a 23 second quarter? While I'm sure they could handle more than 80kph, as a substitute for a "front runner" I personally think it's a completely stupid idea. Your old man has a ute that's running a slick rear, and I assume fast times as "they" said he has to run front runners, yet he's looking at cheaping out by using some space savers? Seriously, have the school holidays started already?
  17. There's no friggin' way in hell I'd contemplate driving when I could jump a train/tram or bus and be there in 30 minutes. Carlton (Elgin/Lygon) to The Coles building (near Tooronga Station) on Toorak Rd is 35 minutes by Public Transport. You'd struggle to drive that in twice the time. Public transport all the way.
  18. I must confess, I ride a bike to work. Traffic to me is something to annoy and taunt to pass the boredom of the daily commute.
  19. I hate Apple because recovering the Restrictions password is practically impossible and post-iOS 5 they like to change themselves for no apparent reason.
  20. Yes, M3s sound great, but again, you can have a 10 year 100,000k old M3 or 2 year 10,000k old Zed. I'll have the Zed thanks.
  21. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/nissan-370z-2010-11746619?base=1216&vertical=Car&eapi=2&Page=7&sort=Price&cr=103&__N=1246%201247%201252%201282%204294963846%204294776694%201216&silo=Stock&Range=Price:Min,Max~0.5 Fu(k yes. It's making me want one
  22. The back is a bit gawdy, but the rest looks the shizz. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/nissan-370z-2010-12256743?base=1216&vertical=Car&eapi=2&Page=8&sort=Price&cr=110&__N=1246%201247%201252%201282%204294963846%204294776694%201216&silo=Stock&Range=Price:Min,Max~0.5
  23. Dollar for dollar I reckon the Datto will better the M. EDIT: And again, have you heard a Z with an exhaust? Wow! Brilliant sound, one of the best I've heard.
  24. Not from Hurstbridge. Going through Heidelberg is the quickest way. 39 mins in route Planner vs 59 mins on the Ring Road.
  25. M3s are great cars, but personally unless it was a weekend special or I was particularly handy with the tools, I also wouldn't buy one. They are highly strung and expensive to maintain when you don't do some or all of it yourself. I would have a 370 over the TT because, well, the TT looks as gay as two rainbow coloured male unicorns open mouth kissing. I'd also hazard a guess that the 370 is faster, more comfy and more practical and holy SHIT! have you heard one with a rorty exhaust? Wow!
