To Rebuild... Or Not To Rebuild?
Cowboy1600 replied to OzzySkyline07's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That's funny coming from someone spending $6k on a RB20 rebuild for a daily driver. -
To Rebuild... Or Not To Rebuild?

Ok, so I wasn't the only one thinking it. Looked good an all, but as boring as batshit.

Sure. Apple became worth more on a market cap basis cause they have hoarded every penny they've earned. They haven't paid a dividend since 1995! Every other company on earth actually gives back to their shareholders. Apple doesn't. If Microsoft were never legislated out of existence in the 90's and they took back every penny they have ever paid out in dividends, acquisitions, so on and so forth they'd be about 100 times more valuable than Apple. Apple products are cheap, nasty shit (or simply a PC) dressed up in faggotty clothes and sold to people who don't know better. I find it hilarious that you call people who hate Apple elitist. That's akin to Hitler calling Churchill a fascist.

To Rebuild... Or Not To Rebuild?

Why not grab a 30 block and 25 head and do a 2530? A freshen up of the bottom end + mods to the head would only be a couple grand, assuming the cranks, slugs, and bores are fine. All you'd need is a turbo (grab a stocko s/h Neo turbo) and injectors (stocko RB25s) and you'll have a lazy and bullet proof 200+rwkw with plenty of scope for big HP later. I reckon you could do that for under $6k. -
+11ty Pretty much sums up my hatred of all things Apple. Don't get me started on the failure rate of iPhones either.

Oh, just to this point, the Macbook screens are usually either Samsung or LG and are also available in other non-Mac laptops.

I kinda like the idea, but just how much fuel would you have to use before the initial investment in the fairly complex setup would pay for itself? Let's say it costs you $2k to setup (considering equipment, labour and tuning). If it was simply 91 vs 98 ($0.15 litre difference generally), that's about 13,000 litres of fuel you would need to burn throught the 98 nozzle to essentially pay back the initial cost. If you add something to your fuel which bumps it to say $3/litre that's more like 1,700 litres which is getting on 10,000ks which is a whole lot of Ks considering it's WoT type driving (ie. track day or traffic light GP). That said, I still like the idea, just not as a way to save money on fuel. I like it from the same perspective as switchable E85/98 maps - only taking it to the next level. E85 is a bitch to get so I'd be more inclined to have a 10L drum of C16, or something to that effect, in the shed and keep 10 litres in a "switch to" tank in the boot. Drive around on 98 all day and when you know you're going to want the power and safety of a high octane fule, flick a switch and run the car for a minute before sinking the loud pedal.

It's all good mate, just taking the piss. I do hate Apple with a passion though. And my windows never crashes, freezes or anything either. If it does then you're doin' it wrong! Apple can still eat a dick

Gee, you like Dell that much? Cause that's what Apple use in their iMacs. Yes, Dell screens. You can buy one too for a PC for about $900 (or a Samsung equiv for $700) and even with that spend you can build a PC which will beat the shit out of an equivalent priced Mac. Yes, I'm PC. OSX is f**king gh4y and Apple can eat a dick. And yes, I've spent more than enough time fvcking around with that homo OS to know. And "Apple people" are total fvckwits. Who in their right mind would queue for five hours, let alone fly halfway round the world to buy a phone? Seriously.

Series 2 Rs Four S Rear Wheel Bearing
Cowboy1600 replied to Cowboy1600's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I didn't get the part number from the guy who installed it for me. I know it was about $300 just for the bearing though. It was genuine Nissan so call them and they should be able to tell you. Note I believe auto and manual bearings are different. -
He likely won't go IB for his price point. And I'd stick with a SB (and therefore 1600Mhz RAM) for the time being. They are proven performers. That $10-15 can go towards his SSD.

Is 98 always say 15 cents a litre more? Or does the difference between the two vary?
-
When you have a sample size in excess of 10,000,000 the numbers are fairly solid. That said the median income is around $60,000 which does change things a bit. But still, the more things change the more they stay the same. Heck, cars are generally more efficient these days than they were and the buy in is much smaller. You can buy a brand new, quality, efficient car these days for $15k. 15 years ago a small, reliable, efficient car was....$15k.

How long will they run it for? I'm wondering how this would go on a 1000cc sports bike motor.

Bazinga! This man, he knows.

Nissan Juke R Gets The Go Ahead For Production
Cowboy1600 replied to TTT's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Tha'ts gotta be the most psycho little car ever devised. Good on Nissan for allowing the engineers the free reign to make it and even more kudos fo ractually building them! -
1600 mhz ram is the sweetspot for i5 Sandys. That's as fast as they claim to support but if your mobo has variable xmp profiles you can generally run 1600. Faster RAM just won't go any faster with an i5. And again, absolutley, positively make sure you spec a 120Gb SSD for your OS and main programs. It will simply transform your PC.

If you want something just for reading books, you cannot go past a Kindle. Battery life is measured with a calendar and the non backlit screen is so easy to read. Someone has spent a lot of time developing the screens on Kindles to be good for reading and have completely nailed it. If you want something you can browse the web on too, perhaps a Motorola Xoom? Can pick up a 32Gb wifi for <$400. I wouls steer clear of the really budget knock off $200 tabs. I know a couple people wit them and while they work, just, they are pretty shit. The biggest issue is they run Android 2 and won't be updated. This is a mobile phone OS and is inappropriate for a tablet.
-
I agree that netbooks are superior. If you do not need the out and out compactness of a tablet get s laptop/netbook. However, if 90% of the time you'll be using it while sitting on a train or something, get a tablet.

Bullshit. f**k all sites use HTML 5. Sure, it's going to grow and grow and grow and eventually all sites will run it (or HTML 6, 7 or 8) but for now and the short to medium term Flash still runs 95% of the internet. No Flash - iFail.

The average wage, which current sits at about $69,000, is gross, not nett, which is just over $1k a week after tax but before any levies or anything, ie, Medicare Levy. So consider it a round $1k/week after tax.

Meh, heaven forbid you want to give them to a long lost orphaned brother or sister. Then again, the NSW custom number plate scheme is expensive and quite frankly rooted. Victoria does it so much better (for the consumer). gosh darn the RTA (or whatever they are called now).
