  1. Spotted a silver C34 turning left off Grimshaw St at the carwash in Watsonia. I was in my yellow C34. Gave each other a toot.
  2. Don't all police cars have front facing cameras fitted these days? I'm fairly sure you can subpoena the footage. If it shows your mate taking off and you hanging back, then how can you possibly have been doing the same speed?
  3. Big congrats! My wife just hit 6 months (holy crap, only 12 weeks to go!). I bought a Stagea because of it GL with everything. Hope you have a worry free pregnancy!
  4. I'm sure DSG's are awesome (and I know they sound shit hot on upshifts) but I like having a clutch pedal. Then again, I also hate (well, not hate but rather like not having in certain cars/situations) power steering and power assisted brakes. Each to their own. I don't want to cut laps n'th degrees faster, I want to have fun and drive like a hooligan which is easier in a proper manual.
  5. Anyone know where the paint code is on a Stag?
  6. BZZZZZ.....next. Dude, Au and NZ are two very, very different places. You do not have a local car manufacturing industry, ergo it's dirt cheap to import cars. We have lots of little disincentives to importing in the form of $$$ sinks which are designed to encourage you to buy locally instead. Yes, importing yourself is/can be cheaper, but it can also be a total headfvuk and take an eternity. I also think he's more int he market for a C34 (although this could be purely budget related).
  7. Do you have the codes for an R34 and 200sx? I'll get mine of the Stag tonight. I'd be interested to know if they are the same.
  8. That looks more like the Stagea yellow. Again, a bit brighter but that could be new big $$$ paint job vs 10 year old factory paint job. I reckon with a bit of elbow grease mine would pop that hard.
  9. Any links to your H2O/Meth inj? Did you do a kit or home made jobbie? I'd love meth injection for added piece of mind.
  10. I've worked on lots of cars over the years, doing everything from engine swaps to clutches and lots of general maintenance. I found my old 33 and the Stag to be amongst the easiest. About the only thing which really sucks is getting to the coilpacks and plugs (but once you do it twice you have learn the few tricks so number three is easy). Everything else is simple. I did a clutch in the 33 with the use of a hoist in about an hour. That's going in blind, ie. having never done a clutch on an RB before. I had a lot of the rear right suspension out when doing the wheel bearing (which I couldn't get off so had to take it to a shop ) and that was all easy to get out and back in. But even then I got charged for an hour to do the wheel bearing which is not much (although the bearing itself was $333 ). They are certainly not noteworthy for being bad. As for having a wagon, my first car was a wagon (in 96) and the Stag I have now is the only one since. Damn I love having the room to just flip the back, chuck in whatever I want and go. When I go riding there's no removing wheels or seats. It's simply open, insert, go. I love it. Get one. You won't regret it, especially if you can find a good RS4S! Oh, I wouldn't be afraid of 150,000ks either, so long as you are confident it's been looked after. There's no reason it won't go well beyond 250,000ks with little to no problems. I've got my head around them now so if you need a hand looking at anything, let me know and I'll see if I can help out.
  11. That's good news.
  12. Fair to say that, unless otherwise stated or signposted, you should be able to expect to go through a car wash without it damaging your car. I'd send it on to your insurance. You may have to pay the excess in the short term but should get it refunded when the car wash pays up.
  13. Lambo doors. The end. Actually, in all seriousness, I love Lambo doors. I know they are complete Ricer Kit, and only the cream of the tasteless crop do them now, but I've always liked them and always wanted to do them to one of my cars. The R33 was probably the best one to do it to because it was such a shit of a car to get in and out of in carparks. Alas, I shall refrain from ever doing Lambo doors, lest I look like:
  14. I'm in for one. Will send through a deposit on Friday (payday ). I'd also bee keen on one for the other side. Actually, if you're after ideas, I'd be mega keen on one per side with a sub enclosure in the left and an enclosure for 6x9s in both. Now that would be absolutely awesome. What do you reckon the likelihood of that would be?
  15. Hey dude. Are you able to define Northern Vic? Also, are you parting it out or trying to sell as a whole first? Cheers.
  16. Congrats on the new wheels. Don't mind the M35s. I'd have one if they came in manual. But alas, they do nos, so I'll make do with the 34
  17. If that's all you can take from what I've said, then perhaps your should leave the reading comprehension to someone else. Please, show me some of these reports. $100 says you don't, not because you can't be arsed but because they simply do not exist. Wait, what? I thought we had a whole murder of reports on how totally like the car with which it shares nothing but a vague reference to name really is. It's collective noun substitution time.
  18. Why don't more manufacturers make boxers? Because they are inferior, that's why. And show me a PRODUCTION BASED class where boxers rule. Since 1990 Subaru have won 3 out of 21 WRC titles and I can't find resutls which suggest that the WTA WRXs do much. And do you think maybe the strut towers were put there BECAUSE of the boxer engine? As for heavy, what garbage. The difference in CoG would be negligible in anything but a balls to the wall race car. As for weight, the boxer is likely to be heavier than an all alloy I4. Bullshit. Go do some basic Googling and you will find a myriad of references to the AE86. References to the 800 are solely around the fact that Toyota used a boxer in a car in 65. That is all. This car is in no way, shape or form a homage to the 800. Is the 800 a cult car? Nope. Is the AE86? Yep. Jesus, how about some research? The 86 is a coupe, not a hatchback. And it has a horozontally opposed 2.0L four, not an inline 1.6L four. Them's some pretty significant differences. I hate boxer engines. They are horrible things which belong in Kombi vans. Toyota build some simply phenomenal inline motors. Why on earth have they outsourced the engine in something designed to pay homage to one of the biggest cult classics ever made? It's a weak marketing ploy and it's very disappointing. They should have shoehorned the 2ZZ-GE into it. Or even better, what a perfect way to introduce a brand new engine which could power this in sporty form and then be rolled out across the Corolla and Yaris range in less sporty form? The AE86 should not be triffiled with. It is a serious cult classic and stuffing up a modern homage is a grat way to detract from that. As a car enthusiast, I don't like it when car companies f**k up a classic.
  19. I doubt you'll find one, especially one with a "bad driving history" which is what a Magistrate will see when he receives your driving history from the Po-po. Sure, your offences thus far haven't been exactly shocking, but the fact you have anything there will count hugely against you. That and the fact you've been driving your car around either registered in someone else's name or unregistered. Also, have you checked that it's even possible to get an exemption in your state? If you want a tip, take this. I know you love the R32, but get rid of it. They are not a good car for someone struggling to rub a couple pennies together, especially when you're probably just going to get yourself reamed over and over again by the po-po. If you live 6ks from your work, but a cheap Corolla and a pushy. You'll save a fortune and not get booked every other week. The bitches might not like it, but if you are 18 and can't pull a chick every other night without a decent car, then your issues run far deeper. In a few years time you will not be up to your neck in debt and it's at this point, once you have your 12 points back and a full license, that you can go out and buy the car of your dreams. The bitches will then fizz and you'll be up to your nuts in no time. You'll be able to do it properly and you won't get your arse into a ton of trouble in the mean time.
  20. I've no fear of change. Hell, I thrive on change. But change for changes sake? Not so much. And your example of sticking with an L series is terrible*. I have no problem with updating and advancing, but to go from straight 4s and 6s to a boxer made by a different car company is ridiculous. Rubbish. Show me a production car series anywhere in the world where boxers compete against Vs or inline engines and win regularly. In Aust they get humped by Evos, Falcons and Commonwhores. The only place they do win is in the Porsche Cup. If 4s and 6s are "too front heavy" why are they in pretty much everything? Why are some of the greatest product engines ever made I4s and 6s? Can't say the same about a boxer. And aside from specs, which are, well, not even close, this and the AE86 have little to nothing in common. Actually I'd like to change that to nothing in common. You can't even say they are both Toyotas.
  21. 6ks? You could do that on a pushy in under 10 minutes, easy. Fek, if I lived 6ks from my work I'd ride a pushy every day. You'll also save a fortune on the pushy. I'm gunna take a stab and say you've got 5/5ths of f**k all chance of getting any sort of exemption.
  22. Give me a few months into next year (after I've recovered from Xmas) and I'd be very keen on a GTR Style bonnet for a C34. I can't help but think it would look seriously good on a bright yellow Stag.
  23. I've been trying to find as much info as possible on it and the only "jointness" I've been able to uncover is Subaru supplying the engine. Everything else was Toyota. That's not a joint effort, that's a a supply agreement. And the whole lower CoG thing is a wank in anything but an out and out race car. And by that I mean gutted, full chassis race car such as F1, V8 supercars, WRC and so on. The lower CoF isn't going to be the make or break in production based racing. It's a total cop out from one of the best car makers on the planet.
