You know what's feking hilarious? That Prelude looks better than the 33 in question. That's really saying something.

Gen 5 was last and weighed 1380kgs.

I work in finance, too, but I still know a horrible bag of arse when I see it, and when I look at those pics you posted I'm looking at a horrible bag of arse. It is a fugly POS. Autos are f**ked. They are fat and slow. The bodykit is an abomination. The stripes look like red gaffa tape. The lights look like someone flogged them off an Audi and glued them on. It's truly f**king horrible. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either blind, hates you or is a Lebo. Either way, they should not be listened to.

4th gen onwards weighed 1300kg+ R33 GTST is 1390ish so there's not a whole lot in it. The 33 would make mountains more torque too, and being a rear driver wouldn't sit there trying to tie itself in a knot with torque steer. The 33 would flog it. And +1 for that car being f**king ugly. All it's missing is lambo doors and you've got yourself a real Lebo Chariot there.

WTF? I didn't think school holidays started until December.

Drivetrain losses are fairly linear. And 25%-30% loss is about right (even though a percentage means it's not linear but I did say fairly). Modern cars are losing way less than that these days, even with autos behind them.

Any tuner who just whacks a car on a dyno and "tunes" it while ignoring obvious and/or potential issues isn't worth a pinch of shit. Seriously, saying it's ok for a tuner to just "tune" whatever is thrown at him is stupid. Anyone who's been doing it for a while should know what to expect and if a car doesn't achieve near what it should, then I would expect he consults with the owner to try and find the issue. Just tuning a car and throwing it back to the customer even if it's not right is bullshit. lilcrash obviously has an issue somewhere and it sounds as though the tuner isn't the slightest bit interested in helping him find it. He sounds happy to take his money though. Of course we've only heard one side of the story so I will reserve final judgement. But my point stands. Any service provider who reckons they can exist in today's economic climate by being half-arsed is fooling themselves. And tuning someones car when there is clearly something stopping it reaching it's full potential but carrying on regardless is being half-arsed. Oh and that stuff about not wanting to tune a specific turbo is utter bullshit. A turbo is just a pump. I'd be wary of any tuner not wanting to tune a particular brand, especially one which is well proven.

You've gotta one of the biggest idiots I've had the displeasure of reading posts from recently. Unless you have a CLUE what you are talking about (which you do not) how about you just shut up and stop making an idiot of yourself?

Dude, save your strength. You can't change ignorant dimwits with attitudes like that.

I get about 220 from a tank and it costs about $20 to fill from there. But then I get about 4000ks out of a rear tyre and 8000 from a front and that's about $550 worth there. Bikes are not cheap unless we're talking a scooter or something.
-
Only if you earn less than $30k per year. If you earn more than that then you will gain. And to say again, the carbon tax is not being placed on fuel.
-
I was paying 80c/litre in 1999 for juice. I was also bringing home roughly $450/week and living comfortably. I not pay $1.60/litre....but bring home a tad under $1000/week. It's much of a muchness. If you are worried about fuel consumption, then I don't think a turbo charged 2.5l six is for you. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Which isn't applied to petrol. /trollfail

Woops, I meant to say boost leak.

No CAT! THE HORROR! That would make your car.....UNROADWORTHY!!! *cue dramatic music* I don't want my family being killed by some foolish person who doesn't have a CAT on their car! THE SHAME! Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Gah, so it is. Maybe a couple of truck alternators might do the trick then? Either way, perhaps sell them as a package along with some significantly up rated generation in the from of a massive or second alternator and bigger battery? Sure, it'll add significant cost, but it'll also be done properly. I wonder if I could fit one on my R1?

A Skyline amp is ~65amp, correct? If that thing pulls 100amps, would beefing the generator system up to say 150amps provide enough stink to run it constantly? Or at least for much longer times than say the odd squirt for 10 seconds or so?

It's got a PFC but I don't know what the tune is like. To be honest, I suspect there may be a fuel leak. The turbo whine sounds very, very different to my R33 and I have a feeling what I can hear is actually compressed air escaping. The guy who owned it before me said a few issues arose after he put the FMIC on it. It fouls plugs like a bastardo. The ones in it have done about 150ks and it's already starting to struggle at full throttle. I also noticed today that with the eboost turned right down, it's struggling to achieve 6psi of boost. It was comfortably boosting to 7psi which is stock.

Good quality legal level exhaust >> illegal $400 muffler. For the price of the muffler again you get get a proper, top quality bolt on exhaust which sounds great, doesn't drone and is fully legal. Might sound pricey, but a single fine for the defective muffler and you'll have forked out more than the cost of a good quality exhaust anyway. Do it once, do it properly. A Varex is a dodgy way to overcome an issue which can easily be rectified properly, in my opinion. That said, if you are set on a venturi muffler, the Varex are the goods from what I've heard.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
Cowboy1600 replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I've got Federal 595ss on the Stag and although I've only done about 600ks on them, I have to say they have performed extremely well. (most of those 600ks have been medium to hard street driving) They just seem to grip for ever. It's very hard to get them to break traction. I've got probably 180ish rwkw (when I choose to play in rear wheel drive mode) and they hold on with no issue even if I don't want them too. The wet performance is equally as good if not better. Possibly the best wet weather tyre I've ever used on any car. Dry performance 8/10 Wet performance 9/10 Noise 6/10 Wear - NFI No idea about their track performance. -

Actually, as we are in Australia and British English is our official language, it's "tyres". -
I filled my tank and got about 220ks out of it before the fuel light came on... I wonder if that could be related to my plugs fouling so badly the car literally would not start? Me thinks that's not necessarily a good indication of a Stag's fuel consumption

I'd happily shell out a few bucks for one.

Decent grade stainless with mandrel bends - I reckon some where around a gorilla. Actually you may get a bit of change from $1000. $400 for the dump, $300 for the wastegates, $150 for intercooler piping. That's my guesstimate.
