I'd be interested to hear if someone offers such a service. Also, any kind hole in a muffler will be a fail. Whether it gets picked up or not is another question. Worst case get some muffler putty and wipe it over the crack. That's all that's required to rectify legally.

+1 All these stories about shops winding back the K's are more often that not utter rubbish. And as for cars being spent after 180,000+ kays, what nonsense. A car that's been looked after will do three times that with little to no effort.

I don't think this is entirely worthwhile on a boosted engine. I rigged up a CAI (removed inner left headlight and ran pipe straight to airbox) in my Datsun 1600 which was running a warm 2L with a single 32/36 down drought Weber (in a modified standard airbox) and the difference was most noticeable. For starters the thing made power for almost another 1000RPM which was significant! And beyond that it had more grunt off the bottom and got better fuel consumption by roughly 15%. Not bad for a $20 piece of 100mm flex hose from a hydroponics store But this was a naturally aspirated engine. It's not possible to actually get a "ram-air" affect on a turbo'ed engine. As long as the air box is well fed, gains with such a set up are going to be probably zero. Unless your current setup is sucking heated air from the engine bay or it's substantially restricted via poor quality filters or too smaller intakes, benefits from a custom CAI for a boosted engine will be slim to none.

Ye gads, my favorite wheel of all time. If I keep the Skyline (currently going through insurance assessment for a prang) I shall certainly be in touch. -
I don't know if you actually watched the whole video through, but the footage clearly shows a number of trucks doing the wrong thing with a caption pointing it out. No one said there aren't idiots out there driving trucks, but they do have a cnut of a job. I've spent a lot of time driving unusual vehicles, such as tractors, motorbikes and oversize vehicles, around the city and I can tell you it's tough. I also have spent a lot of time around heavy vehicles as my dad did interstate for years and is now a coach driver and my best mate owns a transport company. I'd say from my experience, which is vast, 80% of truck drivers are good drivers and drive well. On the flip side I'd say 35% of car drivers are good drivers and drive well.

Sorry to go OT, and I'm not sure where you are, so assuming you're in Australia, WTF is it with everyone beginning to call the bonnet a hood? This isn't the first time in SAU that I've seen the bonnet referred to as the hood. It's a bonnet. The bonnet is the bit at the front of a car that covers the engine. It's not a hood. We speak British English, therefore it's a bonnet. If we had've been settled by the Yanks, then it'd be a hood. So in conclusion: Bonnet = UK English (ie. ours), Hood = American English (ie. not ours). That is all. Carry on. As for the bonnet vent issues, I've no idea. I can only dream of owning such a car

You're assuming everyone knows what they are looking at. I predict something like this. Car advertised. Knowledgeable person checks it out. Knowledgeable person LOLS and then leaves. Nub checks it out. Nub takes it for test drive and drops a load in his jocks case he has previously only driven a Camry. Nub happily hands over the readies not having a clue that it's got a smaller turbo. Nub crashes the car 4 weeks later so is never the wiser. Nub advertises the parted out wreck on SAU. Nub sells "RB25" turbo only to have the buyer spaz out when they find out it's an RB20 turbo. The circle of life is complete.

Heh, as soon as I saw the title to this thread I went looking for Dahlback vids. A 2.3L 5 cylinder Audi motor destroked to 2.1L to get it to rev more. >1000hp, 4WD, totally insane. -

I sort of agree but I guess I personally forgive Ford for a slight aesthetic problem with the utes as it's done from a "Function over Form" perspective. I like cars to work properly as well as look good. Unfortunately the bland rear end and the big gap between the cabin and tray is a necessary evil. Tho have you seen an FG with an alloy flat try? Very, very tough. Not a fan of the colour (or wheels), but I love the concept of the following: -

Fek, that is one hot car. The FG's are near to perfection in my book. Just the right amount of aggression and class. HSVs are too boofy for my liking and the BAs can be a bit underdone. So, so hot. Awesome colour, too. Grats -
As per heading - I need an R33 S1 right hand headlight and front bar. Willing to pick up or pay for shipping. Need it pretty soon - I have some damage to the front of my car which needs to be fixed within a fortnight so I can clear a defect by the 26th. Pref black/dark purple for the bar, but not too fussed really. I'll respray it eventually anyway. Headlight needs to be undamaged and in fair condition. I'll polish the lens before fitting. SMS/Call on 0418 994 629 or reply here or email me a [email protected] Cheers, Aaron.

My last Datto (180b) was on it's 5th trip around the odo, so in the high 400's. But better than that, my mum had an '88 Pintara station wagon which had over 700,000ks on it when it got traded and all it had replaced in that time was the diff. The engine and box were still fine and that despite my best attempts to kill it. I learned to drive in that car and used to drive it when I was on my Ps. So it didn't have the easiest life.

Hang on, pin head, you're the one trying to write off my informed and reasoned opinion as being fanboi dribble. I also love 350s and a Slant 6's with triple webers at full song gives me a boner, so now what am I? Don't get me started on a stroked L18 with twin 45's or a CBR600 with a fill Micron at 15,000RPM. Of course if I had the spare cash to build anything it might b a Datto 1600 with a warm 13b turbo. So, now what fanboi am I? Pal, you're the one trolling here. Bullshit anaecdotes that you use in vain to try and bolseter your opinion. There's nothing wrong with Fords, as much as you'd like to convice us oterwise, just as there is nothing wrong with Holdens. There are differences between the two, but either would not be a bad choice. I have a preference based on a number of reasons, but none of them are "LOL, Fords is shit, lol, cause they brake!" -

I'm not little, nor am I angry. Falcons have been tradesperson vehicle of choice for about 20 years. Holden's carrying capacity has been shot since they went to independent rear in the utes (around VT? VS/VR were IRS in sedan but I don't think the utes were). There's opinion, and there's I'll informed, biased rubbish. I'll let you guess which I believed to be coming from you. -

You're obviously a complete idiot. I'm not a fanboi of anything. You're talking shit and trying to write me off as a Fanboi isn't going to hide that fact. You can try and be sure of anything you like, but you're mate can't drive for shit and you're full of it. -

Cowboy1600 replied to macdog's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I'm not biased, I just think you're talking shit. The reason the Ford still uses a live axle is because it's more than good enough for it's intended purpose. Why waste money trying to engineer a new setup into a ute only for it not to be as competent as the current setup? If you keep an eye out you'll see every tradie on the road who actually has to carry some decent weight in a Falcon as opposed to a Commodore. There's a good reason for that. Of course many have moved up to 4x4 utes now, but there's still plenty of Falcons rolling off the floor which are destined to be genuine work horses. And even once that's translated to the performance side of things, the benefit of IRS over live axle in a ute is so insignificant that it's simply not worth the effort or money. Have a look at the last few Brute Ute series. Factory cars with a bit of suspension and engine work punted round. The Falcons and Commodores are almost identical. In fact, the Fords have had it over the Holdens for the last few seasons, but there's not much in it. So much for your argument that live axle is shit. -

What utter rubbish. Have you driven a live axle late model Falcon ute? I'd say no based on your biased crap. Oh, and you do know my 1974 Datsun 180b has the same rear end set up as your uber-technological Commodore, don't you? -
1000hp R34 Gtr Vs Veyron
Cowboy1600 replied to adamskill's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
What's the "point" got to do with it? Did you read your post above mine? That's not the point either.... They Veyron is cool, but if it was my wallet being pillaged I'd go the Skyline everyday of the week, regardless of how many houses I owned.
