All helmets must meet a minimum standard. TBH, most helmets will all work the same. The big difference will be in the weight, quality of liner, looks and vent design which, in reality, won't make any noticeable difference in your situation. If you were doing 50 laps of a track at full noise, or riding a motorbike it would, but a DECA day or typical track day, it won't matter. Grab a cheapo from your local bike store. It'll do everything you need and then some.

Best Looking Wheels On An R33 Gtst
Cowboy1600 replied to Nick033's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hmmmm, now where have I seen those before? Oooh, I know! -
Go to a Broker. I work in the industry and I can tell you a good broker will get you the best deal. Macquarie are doing pretty good car finance at the mometn but you'll only get it through a good broker. Try and find a broker who is Accred with Connective. They are the best in the business.

Good call. They are pure sex on wheels.

I got done for 99 in a 60 zone years ago. I know I was speeding but there was no way I was doing 99. I was on an XR250 which you have to wring pretty hard to get to 100. Hell, it topped out at 120. I would've been doing ~75 max. I'm 100% sure the copper just hadn't reset the radar from the last guy. He was super keen to show me ther readout. I was stunned.

They do use diesel. but only a tiny amount. I believe it was 16L across the whole circuit. I spent a day there many, many years ago in my fairly heavily worked Datsun 1600. My goodness it was a fun day. Hard call on GTR over the Lotus. I'd take the GTR just so everyone would oooh and aaaah over it And it'd be a shite load of fun still! It's also helps you get a better understanding of your own cars capabilities.

Okies, had a good read. Have you checked out mandatory penalties in QLD? I'm not sure of the situation there but in Vic if you plead guilty to anything speed related the Magistrate MUST serve the penalty. There is no discretion. There is also no such thing as a "work" license or other such device. I would make sure this is not the case in QLD before pleading guilty. TBH, you are mad for not fighting it. The Police make this shizen up all the time and the enforcement is designed to catch the majority, not the worst. Why were they where they are? Why weren't they outside a school where speeding drivers can actually be a danger? The answer: To raise cash. I'd tell tehm to prove you were the speeding car. I know in Vic that any roadside camera is unable to determine the two and they won't even send the fine out if there are two vehicles in the frame. I'll bet my ass you'd get off on the same technicality. And why shouldn't you? You weren't going to kill anyone. The penalty is completely out of step with the severity of the crime, so why not go for broke? In fact as a citizen of a country quickly having our rights and freedoms eroded all in the name of safety, it's your moral obligation to fight this. Make them work for it. They fight dirty so you should too. Make them PROVE that it was you who was speeding and not the ute. There's some interesting info here - http://www.delonixradar.com.au/queensland/#summary “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” Thomas Jefferson

That's a hot car. Unfortunately you might get half what you're asking, if you're lucky. And by lucky I mean, "go buy a lotto ticket as you have a good chance of winning now", lucky. Even parting it out might get you half what your ask is. I'd say either way, you're going to take a massive hit. But them's the breaks, I suppose.

Turob timers are actually illegal, so hiding them isn't the dumbest thing possible.

Actually I did the maths wrong. It's 96 wheels 6 carriage train, 16 wheels per carriage But I'm doing the 2 wheel commute now. Sooo much faster, and more fun, than 96. If anyone sees a blue '98 ZX9 weaving through traffic somewhere between Hurstbridge, Ivanhoe and the City (Collins St) gizza wave, and get outta my way

Why are you surprised? Last time I looked this was a Skyline forum? Now I know that does not discount other cars from getting in the mix, but I find it odd that you are surprised that so few of us give a shit about Toymotors. -
What utter rubbish. The wet weather performance difference between two tyres of a comparable quality is negligible and I reiterate, if you crash in the wet and blame the performance of your tyres, you are an idiot and should catch the bus. If the marginal difference between these two tyres is the difference between crashing and not, then please hand in your license ASAP.
-
How much difference do you honestly believe there is going to be between two ~$150 tyres? Like, really. We're comparing Golden Delicious and Granny Smith's here, not friggin' oranges and Ferraris. The difference between the two would be slim at most. Ergo, buying one over the other in order to have ever so slightly better performance for the 10% of driving you do in the wet is silly. Your inability to actually think about this astounds me. And if you think a tyre can be "simply dangerous" then your ignorance is also astounding. A responsible driver should always drive to the prevailing conditions. If your tyres are shit, you slow down. It's really simple. If you don't and you crash, it's not your tyres fault, it's yours. As someone who spends 90% of his time on the road on only two wheels, I'm going to bet I have a greater understanding of the importance of good rubber and driving to suit conditions than anyone who spends all their time in a car.
-
Wide rubber is less than ideal for wet roads. The wider the rubber the more likelyhood of aquaplaning as the tyre will glide over the water rather than push through it. And I've had cheap tyres and I've had expensive tyres. In the wet they are essentially identical unless you are trying to do more than just get yourself from A to B. If you are trying to give it any welly, then there can be a small difference, but if this is the case, then you drive appropriately to the tyres you have on your car. If you go the tyres with less wet weather performance, don't give it so much. Again, buy the best tyre you can afford for how you do the majority of your driving. Don't buy a tyre for the other 10%.
-
WTF are you talking about? We've been in severe drought for 12 friggin' years. There are on average, long term, 120 wet days per year in Victoria. This has been nearly halved over the past 12 years, ie. we've been getting more like 60-80 a year. Yes, it's been wet recently but that's going against the recent norm.
-
I'm not one to understate tyres, and what you say is accurate on the racetrack, but on the street, driving somewhat appropriately for the street in the wet, you're way off. If you are pushing, in the wet, around town, then you're an idiot and no manner of sticky tyre is going to help. If you are taking heed of the conditions, and realising that wet + residential streets do not add up to race time, then the difference between a good wet tyre and an average one is irrelevant. Buy a tyre suitable for 90% of your driving and don't drive like a f**k stick the other 10%.
-
But as Peter said, wet + turbo can make any tyre look crap. Wet weather performance is 99% how you drive rather than they tyre holding your rims off the ground.
-
Why the need for wet weather grip? Realistically, you spend maybe a dozen days a year driving in the wet. The other 300 days it's dry. So long as you are careful, a "good" wet tyre vs a "bad" wet tyre isn't going to matter a pinch of shizen. It's not likely that the "good" tyre will ever save you from a sticky situation, so why aim for that? You're more likely to stack when having a fang in the dry. Get a tyre which best suits the 99% of driving you actually do.

From the US Department of Agriculture Alcohol Burn-off Chart Preparation Method Percent Retained alcohol added to boiling liquid & removed from heat 85% alcohol flamed 75% no heat, stored overnight 70% baked, 25 minutes, alcohol not stirred into mixture 45% Baked/simmered dishes with alcohol stirred into mixture: 15 minutes cooking time 40% 30 minutes cooking time 35% 1 hour cooking time 25% 1.5 hours cooking time 20% 2 hours cooking time 10% 2.5 hours cooking time 5% Based on this, I'd say 40% retain would be close. So that equates to ~15gm of alcohol assuming half a 750ml bottle of 13% wine was used. Eat 1/3 of that and you have ~5gm of alcohol in you, which is 0.5 standard drinks. 15 mins to eat the meal and 15 mins on the couch and it's gone.
