If he's in the navy, I'd get in touch with them. They don't take too kindly to their own beign such flamin mongrels. His CO may have a quiet word in his ear and suggest he pay back the money to the finance company.
-
Not sure what the terms are yet. I've been emailing back and forth this week, but haven't got that far. My next step is to call them to talk insurance, but I haven't had a chance this week.

LOLnoob....L2getlicensethedayyoucan. I got my Ls the day I turned 16 and Ps the day I turned 17. I was even late to my PD/H/PE HSC exam because of it At the time I was living out in the sticks. There was no friggin' way I was going to wait a single day longer than I had to to get my license.

No, as I said, you misunderstood what I said. I never once implied that SAU Vic carry any risk. Ok, so you don't have time to act as an intermediary, that's cool. But some big sob story wasn't required. I have a full-time job yet I'm planning on taking a day off to do this. Most people have reasonable bosses who let them take a day of leave when they need/want with enough notice. I've never had a job where I couldn't, and I've had a shit load of jobs in my time. Anyway, back to normal viewing. I'd still like to find a payment medium if anyone has any suggestions.

Blah blah blah. Tell ya what, are you intending on attending the track day?

It's not the small rejection that's upsetting. It's the delivery, and it's not the first time R31 has directed his stinky attitude my way. The whole "like it, or STFU" attitude is really offputting. I made a simple suggestion in passing and then made it clear I would merely ask if the SAU Vic was capable and willing to do something like act as a mediator for it's members, and consequently got shut down. And again, as I've shown, he took my suggestion out of context. At no stage have I even remotely considered SAU take on any risk. Merely provide a simple, cost free service for it's memebrs + friends. I know it's such a big deal, but I guess I'm the kinda person who'd go out of his way to try and help rather than shoot something down cause it's all too hard. If someone asked me to do something I'd try and explore ways to help, not respond with "CBFed, too hard, why would I?, why should we?, I'm not your stinkin' bank" and so on (and yes, I'm adlibing but that's the kinda attitude that I feel like I'm getting). I'd be far more inclined to say "Tell ya what, I'll see what we can do." As for being a "team", I'm more than happy to work this on an official level if SAU are willing. I'm even willing to effectivelly guarantor the event as it's my belief that these sort of days are quite popular. It also shits me when the "why would you bother?" comments come out. I'd bother as I'm not interested in racing at this stage. I want to just pay my cash and get out on track for a few laps. No timing, no fire extinguishers, no classes, none of that stuff. Just get on track and drive.

Actually, no, what you said doesn't stand. I would put up the security and get people to pay into an SAU account so if something happens and it doesn't go ahead, I take the hit and the money goes back to those who have paid. And it was merely a suggestion to try and make sure everything was above board and people were comfortable, but you know what? f**k it. I don't need this kind of f**king attitude. Oh, and how the f**k can you possibly get from what I said that I want SAU Vic to be in any way, shape or form responsible for any risk? What I was proposing was essentially a "Paypal". I pay what's required, members pay you, once it's done and dusted you transfer the money to me. A pretty simple process and one that I was merely suggesting as a way of making sure people were cool with it. It may only be $100 per person, which people may be willing to risk, but we're talking $6000 total which is a substantial amount of money. Sorry for trying to do the right f**king thing by some of your members.

I'm not actually sure where anyone said there was anything wrong with any other event. Perhaps people could do both. Just a thought. I have one last detail to sort before locking in details - insurance. Once that's done, I'll look to lock in the date and organise some type of payment system for people wishing to come along. This is going to involve thousands of dollars which I could grab and take off for the border with, so to allay any concerns about payment, perhaps SAU Vic may be able to act as a financial mediator? Pay SAU Vic, they hold it over until the day and then transfer the money to me. In the mean time I put in my own money as payment. If any of the Exec read this, are you able to give me an idea if SAU Vic would be willing? I'll send some PMs. It will not be a pay on the day arrangement. As the cost to run this is going to be in the thousands, I'm not willing to take the risk that plenty of people commit and then don't show. And also, numbers will be limited and run as a first in, first served basis. I'm happy to take suggestions, ideas, preferences for the format of the day, ie. 2 groups or 3 groups. Depending on the cost of insurance, I may open it up to a few more cars to cover the cost. I've already made an allowance in the $100 so if it turns out less then the ticket price will be reduced. As far as I am aware, no CAMS or AASA license will be required, but that's TBC. As it's an untimed event I think it'll be fine.
-
There would be no official timing. Groups would be either 2x30 or 3x20. Seeing as a fun day would see upwards of 70 card on track, 30 would be great and 20 even better. Scrutineering would kick off around 8am with cars on track ny around 10-1030am. I think the last session finishes @ 5pm.
-
The price, assuming we get 60 entries, would be $100. And the date could be late November. I tell ya what, I'll pencil in November 22 as the date. So, Monday, November 22 - $100 and 60 entries, who would be innerz?
-
The dat eis far from set, and there is quite a number available. I'm more looking for an idea of who would be keen to do such an event. It'd be similar to a Fun Day only with 60 cars and midweek.
-
Who'd be interested. No dates solid yet but it would be a few months away to give people plenty of time to get organised. Thinking a Monday late October/early November. What say you?

Mitsubishi aren't Japanese anymore? And slinky, seriously, an FTO before a Supra?!! You totally lost me there. FTO's have to be the most 'orrible piece of shit ever to come of of Nippon. For me it would be (off the top of my head with only a few minutes to think about it): 1. P510 2 door 2. R34 Nur 3. R34 V-Spec 4. R33 GTR 5. R32 GTR 6. Evo 10 7. FD RX7 8. NSX 9. Supra MK IV Targa 10. GTiR Pulsar

Do you actually know where the oil leak is and what caused it yet?
-
Firstly it's MECHANIC. Right. Secondly, none of this sounds RWC related. The water pump siezing was definitely no fault of the mechanic nor an RWC item. And believe it or not but oil leaks CAN manifest "overnight". There is a chance that perhaps he didn't install something correctly when he did the gaskets, in which case, shit happens. There was unlikely to be any devious intentions and so long as he rectifies it, then no harm done. It's not an RWC item so suck it up. As has been said, an RWC does not guarantee you haven't bought a shit car. Sounds to me like you bought a lemon and the mechanic has actually done the right thing by you and not pinged every little thing he could but now your lemon is being squeezed you want someone to blame.
