  1. They'll give you what you want (within reason). No doubt they will offer you lower, but you have no contract with them. If you are dissatisfied then tell them to try again. If they jack up threaten to take them to small claims seeking a reasonable payout + costs. f**k 'em. You are not at fault so why should this cost you anything?
  2. Whereabouts is the first car you drove? Perhaps finding someone with a bit of experience who is willing to give you a hand might help? If it's anywhere between Hurstbridge and Burwood I'm happy to help out. I've been playing with cars for a long, long time and although have only been in my Skyline for 7 months, I'm pretty up to speed on where to look and what a good one should be like.
  3. Thanks for those pics! Gave a good idea of what the day was like. So many different types of vehicles. I like the pic of me next to the Formula Ford waiting to get on track I'm still beaming. Totally stuffed, but beaming The day went perfectly. Marty and I met up with Adam, Manni, Jason, and James at the BP servo. Left at 6:10am. Marty jumped in lead and set his cruise control to 109 to avoid any nasty surprises (damn DoT cameras). We stopped about 25 mins out of Benella cause my back teeth were floating. Hit Benalla Maccas in a dense fog. Cold and crisp, perfect for turbo cars! After a quick feed and fuel we shot off towards Winton, arriving some 15 mins later. None of us had a clue what to do so we drifted in (as in moved slowly, not sideways), and managed to find the queue for scruitneering. Happily, there were no scrutineering issues so with much joy and a touch of anticipation, we rolled our cars out with a pretty new sticker telling the world that we were track ready. We headed to the pit area and emptied any and everything out of our cars before lining up for our first track session. Before we knew it we were being waved thru the entrance onto the the track. That first little climb up onto the finish line was awesome. Down into turn 1 and it was stead as she goes. After a few laps to get comfy, the pace started to up. It wasn't long before the yellows were on thanks to someone having a bit of an excursion off the track into the watery depths of despair. A tow was needed to get them out which meant yellows for a few laps. Fast forward to the end of the session. Cars were hot, brakes smoking, tires balling and smiles all round. It was unanimous: track days rule. Second session out was not quite the high of the first. Traffic was not unlike the Ring Road, during road works, with accidents, in the rain. To be honest it took a bit of shine off the day thus far. Fortunately the third session rectified the situation. I was having a blast. Pretty clear track, putting away some cars which by rights should've spanked me, having a massive tussle with one of the little Aussie Cars. But then about 6 laps in my brake pedal started to get very, very long so I called it a session early. And then the final of the day. The 4th session. Only 4 laps long (thanks to ambition overcoming ability on behalf of a very track specced Commodore [see pic of commodore on tow truck in Stocky's pics]) but by far the sweetest 4 laps of the day. I was second on track behind the Formula Ford with Marty right behind me. That meant 1 completely traffic free lap followed by 1 lap with little to no traffic followed by 1 with still not much traffic. To say it was on was an understatement. These are meant to be "80%" days but there was not much about those last 3 laps which were 80%. Unfortunately 3 laps at pace was all we got before the Commodore tagged the wall somewhere near turn one signaling an end to the 4th session. For me that was the day over as I had to get back to Melb, but Marty stayed on for a 5th, and extended session. According to him it was nearly as hectic as the 4th. Everyone was going for it. It was a seriously fun day. In the lead up I was wondering if it was going to be worth all the effort. To that, I can absolutely say "Hell Yes!" If anyone is ever thinking about doing a day such as this, don't think, just go. You won't regret it. Also heartening was the lack of carnage. There were probably 6 offs that I saw during the day with one resulting in damage, one in a very near miss (see pic or WRX backwards coming out of the chicane - he very nearly tagged the marshall station as he rolled backwards off the track) and one S2000 who snapped something suspension relate and had to be carried back to the pits (but no panel damage so I'd say a component failure). The rest were simple spins. I will defo go again.
  4. What an awesome day!
  5. I'd say you don't get many cause no one can be buggered going thru the rigmarole of getting something done. I want a post in the Events section edited, but to be honest, I CBFed reporting the post 3 times a day. And waiting for a day or two to have the edit done is pointless as it's about an event that is happening tomorrow. And you're saying that 2 complaints have warranted stopping people from editing posts? Wow. I'd hate to see what happens when three complaints are made. This is the only forum I have ever been on that is so out of control that the edit function needs to be disabled. Strange, huh?
  6. Did those club members do so by using a devious system of editing posts to reflect better conditions for them, or flat out rip people off like anyone able to post on these forums could? And I bet people who have donated have also ripped people off in the past, so your argument is defunct. But it's your forum, so, whatever.
  7. Sheesh. Don't suppose we can have editing of posts enabled during this time? The whole "PM a Mod to make changes to a post" thing is a little far out. Maybe only enable it for Club Members?* *I understand Club members aren't financial members of the Forums, however my understanding is the edit ability is not given to everyone not because people are not financial but to stop potential exploitation of members in the Classifieds. If someone is willing to spend the $70 or so to become a financial Club member, then surely that is insurance enough that they are not out to rip people off in the classifieds?
  8. They won't take the car on the day. Just tell them that if they are taking the car you will be removing the following items before they do and give them what you will be taking off. You're effectively in the drivers seat here. You have no contract with them as to what you are and are not entitled to so you can push for a satisfactory result on your behalf.
  9. Just because the RACV are offering me less than what the car is worth, doesn't mean I'm going to accept it. I was willing to take $1,850 but they have effectively knocked $400 off it by giving me some bullshit about taking the remaining rego off the claim.
  10. And I can't see why it wouldn't. A bit of rain won't hurt.
  11. Oh FFS. I never said the car has to go anywhere. All I f**king said was they will want someone, be it one of their in house assessors or approved panel guys to have a f**king look at the car. It's pretty f**king simple and it's correct. They will not pay out a claim without first having a look at the car in some way, shape or form. And where did I say they are "walk(ing) all over" me? You think I came down in the last shower? If the RACV reckon I'll settle for anything less than what I have already decided on, then they are sorely mistaken. f**king read what I said before opening your mouth.
  12. I've been to the subscriptions page and there is no way for me to donate. Can someone please give me a rundown on how to donate? BTW, I've been here but there is no option for me to select.... I click the "Continue to select a payment option" and I get an error message saying I haven't selected a subscription package. There's no Subscription package for me to choose!
  13. I never said their repairer. I said their ASSESSOR. How about reading properly before the potty mouth? At some stage during the process they will have their ASSESSOR look at the car. Whether it is at one of their authorised repairers or by one of their mobile assessors, it will happen.
  14. I'd add you and others to the list, but alas, I can't edit my post.
  15. Her insurance will want you to take it to one of their panel beaters for an assessment. Tell them the car is undriveable and where it is located. Reluctantly they will arrange for an assessor to go and have a look at it. From there it will no doubt be written off and they will offer you a sum of money to replace it. They may or may not wish to keep the car. Be careful. I'm in a biffo with the RACV at the moment. They have offered me $1,850 for my Datsun, which I decided to reluctantly agree only for them to tell me that they will then take out the cost of rego, prorated, meaning they pay me $1400 and I then go and cash in the rego to bring it up to $1800. So they are including the left over rego as part of the cost of the car. f**kers. You shouldn't need a mechanic, insurance company (apart from hers) or a lawer involved. It's a straight forward accident with no question who is at fault.
  16. If it's $50 for a garage then I've got no issue with that. I'll happily split the cost to give us somewhere out of the wind and cold to sit between sessions
  17. That sucks. You should have got her insurance companies name from her. What will likely happen is her company will ring you to discuss assessing/repairing/writing off your car. It's obvious who was at fault so they won't try to fight it. If you don't hear from them in a day or two give the old duck who hit you a call and ask her for the details in regards to her claim so you can get in touch with her insurance company. Don't stress too much. When accidents are clear as to who is at fault they tend to run smoothly (from my experience anyway). Altho they may try and shaft you on how much they give you back, as per the RACV are attempting to do to me at the moment.
  18. Probably not a bad idea to take a seat. And a very warm jacket too. I'm going to suss out a garage on the day. Anyone know how much extra they are and how many cars fit into one?
  19. Also, if anyone wants to come spectate I'm happy to give em a lift. Can pick you up as long as you live somewhere between Hurstbridge and Somerton with a little detour able to be taken. I'll be coming back a bit earlier too which might be good for some. I have to be back in Melb by 6pm so will be leaving about 3-3:30.
  20. Sweet. Save my number and give us a call when you get there if we aren't there already.
  21. Awesome. That's the one.
  22. Well, my mate and I are 100%. The cruise will be as I suggested earlier but I'll reiterate here: Meet point is the BP on the corner of the Hume FREEWAY and Cooper St. Again, note Freeway, not Highway - I'll be in a black R33 and my mate a blue XR8. 5:45am (or earlier) arrival and we will be leaving at 6am sharp. That should see us there by a comfortable 9am (probably earlier, but we'll take it easy - I like having my license intact ) ~30 minute stop at Maccas in Benella @ around 8am for breakfast and petrol before arriving at Winton ~8:45am My mobile number is 0418 994 629 and my name is Aaron. If you are intending on joining the cruse but are running a touch late on the day, gimme a call and we'll wait. Note: we won't wait any longer than 15 minutes for stragglers. The cruise will be at the speed limit so you can try and make up some time by going faster, but that is at your own peril! Gimme a call when on the road and I'll slow us back 10kph if you are really keen to catch up. I've set pretty conservative times which means we won't need to push it and we can be flexible for people wanting to join along the way. For me this say is all about fun and it's no fun when people lose licenses or crash cars so pleeeeeeeeeease keep that in mind. Not only does it ruin your day but it ruins everyone's day. Also, shit happens, so if you are wanting to join the cruise somewhere other than Cooper St or are running late, don't hesitate to give me a call. I don't have a CB or radio so communication along the way will be via mobile. Before leaving I'll tag a lead and a sweeper (probably myself lead and my mate sweeper) so we don't get lost and so no one gets left behind. Again, this day is about FUN! If we could get a yes or a no here on whether you wish to come with us and where you'll meet, that'd be great (just so we have a rough idea who to wait for and the like). Also happy to take suggestions on routes, times and such if you think there's a better way to go about the cruise. Me (Aaron) Marty Zaver Muzt3k
  23. Put on a helmet, wipe the inside with a damp cloth, close it, then go go for a drive on dusk.
  24. Did you read the heading of the article? "Fact sheet: Aftermarket HID headlamps" PM-R33 said: and he is 100% correct on each point. If a car is sold with factory HIDs then they are legal. If you replace factory headlights with factory HIDs, they are legal. If you whack a set of HIDs into the stock, non-HID fitting, illegal. More from the article (emphasis is mine): Know, back to phog lites.
  25. Read the whole thread. And have you ridden a motorbike on the road?
