  1. I'm 90% going at this stage. My mate has shown interest. We'll be the black R33/Blue XR8 combo, and everyone else assuming it all goes to plan I'll make sure I track you down at some stage.
  2. If you want something done right, do it yourself Hey Charlie, how about we meet at the BP on the corner of the Hume Freeway and Cooper Street at around 5:45am with a 6:00am leaving time? Just a suggestion
  3. Anyone know generally what time these things wrap up? I have to be back in Melb by about 6pm for my bros GFs birthday. How does this sound for a meet: Where - BP Northpoint Servo (aka the Oasis) corner of Cooper Street and Hume Freeway - Please note Hume FREEWAY, not Hume HIGHWAY Time - 5:45am for a 6:00am SHARP takeoff - it's still a 2h15min trip from here, so we will want to get on the road at 6am sharp to allow time for a fuel stop near Winton and an 8:30am arrival. What do people reckon? Happy to modify details if you can come up with something better. If a few people say yes, I'll lock it in and post up my mobile number as a contact for people on the day. Please note, this will be my first track day so I don't know anything more than you about the day in it's self. I'm only trying to piece together the cruise up there.
  4. Hmmm, I think I may be in for this. I'll see if my mate wants to bring his XR8 too. Anyone wanna think about arranging a cruise up? Meet somewhere north, like Campbellfield, at around 6am?
  5. Give it a poke. My r33 is essentially stock and doesn't start pulling really hard until 3500+rpm. While you would never flog a car during a test drive, you would want to hold the wellie against the fire wall once or twice to make sure the car revs and pulls cleanly through the entire rev range. To not do would be silly.
  6. Did the change today. Old clutch was an RPM HD clutch. It was totally rooted. Like I think the most rooted clutch I've seen come out of a car. Did a GB oil change too. Wow. Metallic paste spewed out when I pulled out the plug, along with bits of a syncho which I's say is from my 4th gear. I must say, R33s are very, very easy to do clutches on. The whole thing done in about 2.5 leisurely hours. Of course having a hoist and well equipped workshop helped.
  7. Doh!
  8. If done properly it's with rider on the bike. On most bikes you can adjust the headlight from the seat. If not you just adjust it a touch lower than would otherwise be ideal. Most riders have a fair idea of how much sag is loaded into their rear shock.
  9. That's gay. I know it says in the rules any light must be operational, but that's really f**king petty. You must've seriously pissed someone off
  10. Many times? Or once or twice? And that's generally unfortunate and something the riders needs to be aware of. If a headlight is shining in your face then it's an adjustment issue. If we lined a well headlight adjusted bike and car up, and pointed the at a wall, the light pattern should be identical. Another thing. Try driving around in a helmet that is say, bug splattered or a tiny bit fogged up, and see if it's the same as a headlight shining in your car window. And what happens if you stray off the road a touch? You put a wheel on the dirt and pull it back on. What happens on a bike? You lose the front and end up in a ditch.
  11. Do you ride a motorbike? If not, then I suggest having a go before you start making claims about them being harmless.
  12. You probably hate them with as much zeal as I. Nothing worse than cresting a hill on a motorbike only to be blinded by fog lights of a car coming the other way. It's not much fun using the white line on the side of the road as a guide so you don't end up in a ditch. And yes, it is illegal to have them on unless it's foggy. They are meant to be treated as per high beams.
  13. Thanks guys. I got one from Bundoora. It's only a standard clutch, and I would have preferred a heavy duty one, but I couldn't to Northern Brake and Clutch in Sunshine unfortunately. Just had to drive the car from Skye to Bundoora then Bundoora to Hurstbridge with no clutch. I'm knackered.
  14. Clutch has shit itself. I need a new/decent second hand one asap. I use my car for work so have to get it going tomorrow (saturday). Can anyone point me in the direction of someone with clutch? I've had no luck looking here or on the WWW thus far. It will need to be cheap, unless who ever is selling is happy to get some money today and the rest next week (ie 300, maybe 400 today, the rest on Monday). Please help! Either post here, pm me or call/sms on 0418 994 629 Cheers, Aaron.
  15. Yes please. Put me down for one.
  16. All of my comments were in response to FineLine. If you are going to really start setting your car up for straight lines and straight liens only, then my belief that the GTR will be quicker may change. But if both cars are to remain fairly "streetable" then I reckon the GTR will still have it. All (generalisation) the really, really fast streetable Skylines are GTRs (yeah, yeah, bar a select few RWDs but my point stands).
  17. I don't need to do research. You asked how the VL boys do 10 seconds. I answered. There's no substitute for cubes. Shoot for straight out HP and an RB26 will struggle to match a single cam RB30.
  18. With 1000hp and a 4 link rear and/or mini tubs, or at least specifically set up for straight lines and straight lines only. And VLs are generally always going to be faster, mod for mod, thanks to a live rear and more cubes.
  19. Street car dude, street car. Biiiiiig difference between a street car and a single purpose, track dedicated drag car. So going back to the original post, I still have my money on the GTR. If we were talking 1000HP, track specific cars where the GTT has had all the work done to get it off the line and down the track, then my money would change. But a street car, on street wheels, the 4wd will overcome the weight disadvantage.
  20. You haven't considered the obvious problem comparing an 8000hp top fueler with a 700hp "street" car? My money is still on the GTR. Youtube "fast skyline" and there will be dozens of vidoes of quick Skylines, 95% of which will be GTRs, and they'll make up 100% of the really, really fast "street" cars.
  21. Ok. At the RWC stage are you likely to run into issues as the car has had an RB25 put in it? Or is this not a big enough change to warrant engineering and certification? I've forgotten all the Vic rules associated with engine swaps and the like.
  22. Did your car have a different engine put in it?
  23. Being that it's a modified car, I don't think it will be quite as simple as it otherwise could. I'd give VicRoads a bell and ask them.
  24. Ahhhh, I read Muz' question as an ANDRA/CAMS/ASAA type license and kinda missed the actual drivers license bit
  25. Is it one you can buy on the day? And when did Calder start requiring a license? Last time I went to the drags was about 8 years ago and I didn't need one.
