  1. Awww, now don't be like that. We was just ribbin' ya!
  2. 4 year break? So you played for 6 months then took a break?! To the OP, I play on Thaurissian, Horde side. It's not a bad server. I used to play Blackrock and Daggerspine and I prefer it to those. I have taken a year out and am just getting back into it. I'm not too keen on raiding anymore - I used to do 4 nights a week - so have just been running heroics. I'm having a bit of fun. It's much easier to actually get gear and some of the changes like the dungeon finder are bloody awesome. I'll throw you some cash if you roll on Thaurissian. I've got it coming out the whazoo.
  3. No one has any suggestions when it comes to wheel alignments?
  4. I'm getting a 4 wheel alignment done tomorrow and am wondering what the best set-up for street would be? How do skylines react to changes in toe/camber/castor and what effect does ride height have? I always like to run a bit more castor than usual. I'm not terribly worried about feel but like the slightly lighter steering and better self-centering that comes with more castor. As for toe/camber, I don't push it much on the road so again, I'm chasing absolute grip in lieu of driver friendliness, but what have other experienced? Also, my car has been lowered quite a bit. Any other tips on avoiding tram tracking and the like? I'm a bit of a alignment Nazi and have taken cars back once or twice to get a workshop to have another go. I'd rather avoid that by giving them an idea of what I want before it goes up for an alignment. What say you?
  5. I love Shell in my car but every bike I've ever owned friggin' hated it. My NSR seized twice (both times were the only times I ever put Optimax in it...coincidence?), my XR would cough and splutter and also seized although I had run Optimax previously and my blade would cough and fart and carry on until about 7000rpm when it would clear it's throat and go like the clappers. Conclusion? Optimax - Car = yes! Bike = no!
  6. Ahhhhhhh, no. First Octane rating is a number derived from a petrols ability to prevent knock. It has no direct correlation to the fuels formula. Once a fuel is tested it's knock prevention is compared to varying concotions of iso-octane and heptane then given a RON based on what % of iso-octane is required to mimik the fuels knock prevention ability. Secondly, when you combine a hydroCARBON with oxygen you will get water AND a carbon derivitive, ie. Carbon Monoxide. Always. Without fail. Everytime. It's basic chemistry.
  7. Can we please go back to talking about what a silly idea spending $5k+ on nerfing the shit out of an otherwise perfectly good car is, please?
  8. Isn't normal juice about $3.00/litre over there anyway?
  9. Fek! What a bargain.
  10. I went through this in November last year. I got sideswiped by some guy. He agreed it was his fault. I took the car to his insurance. They told me they were going to put it in as a complete loss (ie. write off). When they saw the look on my face they informed me that they do not need to tell VicRoads as the car is older than 15 years old and that I could continue to legally drive it. They sent me a cheque for a value we agreed on ($2k) minus what they felt was a fair price for a 180b "wreck" ($100). I still have the car and it's still registered (re-registered it in March this year).
  11. I'm not 100% sure, but I think most of those fuels come from the same refinery. The main difference is likely down to the freshness of the fuel. IIRC BP, Shell, Mobil and Caltex supply each other fuel in different areas around the country, ie. pretty much all fuel in Melb comes from Mobil and Caltex as they have refineries here. BP and Shell supply Sydney and Northern NSW, and so on. I'm sure someone here works in the industry and can clarify how it all works.
  12. Doesn't apply to cars older than 15 years old.
  13. I don't know the specific costs, but I imagine laying a 360km long water pipe in deep water would be a damn sight more expensive than running one 70kms over land. And seeing as the 70k above over land one cost $700mil, I think even $2,3b for the Bass Straight link would be a gross underestimate. I would presume that oil and gas are very different to water. You can't extrude 2.5m diameter pipe. I imagine it would have to be laid then welded in-situ as opposed to rolled out.
  14. Why on earth didn't you arrange to buy it back?!!!! Being that it's older than 15 years old they are able to pay you out for it without writing it off and they selling it back to you at it's current wreck value. The same thing happened to me recently with my 180b. I got sideswiped by some asswipe in a Patrol. He admitted fault so I took it to his insurance company. They offered me $2k - what it's worth as a wreck which was $100. I got to keep the car, still registered and they sent me $1900 for the trouble. If I could be bothered I'd be bale to fix it myself for around $300 but I just drive it around with a bit of damage to the front quarter and drivers door. You shoulda done the same!!!
  15. I'm going to take a stab that $2.5k includes ECU and motor.
  16. Taste Dumplings! Does a better name exist? 251 Burwood Highway, Burwood. I go there for lunch occasionally and the dumplings are really good and really cheap. A plate of 15 (which usually come out with 20+) costs around $8.50. I split a plate of dumplings and a plate of noodles with a workmate and we eat lunch with green tea for under $10 each. It's a bargain!
  17. I sell Solar Power arrays to schools and residential. I also hold a Bach of Social Science majoring in Public Policy and Research.
  18. The first sensible thing that has been said yet. The video in the OP has been put together by a bunch of young libs tied to the anti-NS pipeline mob. It's been put out there as nothing but a way to generate some bad press for the government. Unfortunately way too many people have taken their bait. As I said earlier, there is no such thing as a silver bullet. Our water security will be ensured by a whole host of measures, such as Desal, local water harvesting, better catchment management, improved efficiency, water recycling and so on, not just some fanciful pipeline to Tasmania.
  19. Yeah, about 360 sorry, not 690. I don't care what he said. AFAIK he's not a undersea pipe laying expert. The government have investigated piping it from Tas but the issues are too great and the cost extreme. At the end of the day it would cost more than desal to build, probably about the same to actually purchase, take much longer to implement, perpetuate our reliance on rainfall, rob the environment in Tas of water and put ourselves at the mercy of Tasmaina when it came to water.
  20. What on earth are talking about? The state government doesn't tax water. In fact the state government had very little opportunity to raise tax. That generally falls into the domain of the feds. And I know the state government has looked at piping water from Tas but it not a 100% reliable or a cost effective way of securing water. Desal is one of our best options as it's reliable and cost effective. Environmental impact will be minimal as they have committee to buying green power for it which will guarantee 500 million a year for the power industry which will be invested in renewable sources. Already a 186 turbine wind farm is underway purely thanks to the Desal plant. Desal, combined with small scale local harvesting and improvements in residential and industrial water consumption is what will secure our water supply. The Tas pipe is a half baked idea concocted by some young libs. It's pie in the sky.
  21. The north south pipeline cost $700mil and was 70 ks overland. How is a 690k pipe under water going to cost half that? Pie in the sky. I used to be a believer in silver bullets. However, having worked in government I have now learnt that rarely, of ever, do sliver bullets exist. Things things are way more complicated than the young liberal dude in the vid would have you believe.
  22. A ha! On another note, were you in wattle glen on your bike? I saw a chick on a black cbr600 with a group of cruisers today.
  23. If it was anything other than pie in the sky, someone would have done it. It's a rubbish idea that fails to take into account a realistic financial cost and the political ramifications of putting our water security into the hands of another.
  24. Hey maddowse, your name ain't Aaron by any chance, is it?
