One of my headlight bulbs (low beam) blew the other day in my R33. I've been looking around for some nice globes and have searched the forums and have read many threads about various brands. I am after whitish/bluish bulbs that are brighter than stock. I came across some Raybrig bulbs which some are using here with good results. I'm not after HIDs. The set I am looking at are the Raybrig Whitesonic S 4900K bulbs and from what I can see is the nice white colour I am after. I found those bulbs listed on this page. Seeing as I have a R33 (series 2 headlights I should add) with polycarbonate lenses, will these globes be ok and not melt or deform my lights or wiring? They are rated at 12v/55w but the light output is around 95w. I think these are halogen, please correct me if I am wrong. Also, I've heard some globes when they blow, they can explode and take the headlight with them. Is this true? In my search I have also come across recommendations for Phillips chromium white 4200k and Philips Crystal Vision. The bottom line is from what I have seen I like the Raybrig Whitesonics but I am not sure if they will be safe for polycarbonate headlights. Any info I can get would be great.

This is exactly the same problem that I am currently having with my tacho. It seems to calm down on hot days for me. It’s driving me nuts! Thanks for the info.

I have attached a picture from a mate's s1.5 R33 which shows you what plug you will be looking for. The car this is from did not have fog lights installed so it was just taped back as in the picture. Perhaps not all s1.5 had this. You have to remove the steering column cover to see this. When looking under the bonnet, facing the car you will see a black box on the left hand side (drivers side) behind the washer bottle. Just unclip that and you will find relays in there. If you turn over the lid you should find a diagram of where each relay goes. Strangely the fog light relay was installed and is brown on this car even though there is no stalk switch. I'm sure you can find one from a wrecker. If you don't have that plug near the steering wheel or a base for the fog light relay in the engine bay, I guess you will need to install a separate switch with its own relay and wiring to get the fog lights up and running. If you are not sure yourself about doing such a job, an auto electrician would be able to help you. They may be able to even use the stock stalk switch so you still keep that factory feel.

As you have the S2 indicator stalk (which has the rotary fog light ring switch) all you have to do is plug in the connection from the indicator stalk to the socket hidden under the steering column cover. Then simply install the new stalk where the old one is. In addition to this, you must get hold of the fog light relay and install it into the correct base in the relay box under the bonnet. You should be able to use the stock indicator wiring and plugs which would do the front indicators and the fog lights, but not sure if the S1 plugs fit S2 lights. Hope this helps!

I needed to replace my worn handbrake boot in my R33 GTST so I did a search on eBay and found this store (linked to the Nissan section). I chose the one I liked and it fit perfectly and was made well with nice leather. Not Nismo though.

I had this issue. The rubber hose becomes brittle and cracks appear which messes up the factory boost gauge. I had some 4mm rubber vacuum hose lying around which I installed and all is fixed with the gauge. Very easy to fix.
