  4. From the owners perspective, it's not theft. - The owner gave permission for the vehicle to be serviced by the dealer - that negates any theft claim he may have against any employee of that dealer. The Dealer however can come down like a tonne of bricks for doing something he wasn't supposed to. Yeah, he can try and sue them for dereliction of duty, but I wouldn't put my house on it that he would win - Negligence has to proved, before someone is liable. - There are many MANY ways they can prove they were not negligent. Most (if not ALL) Car Dealers / Service Departments have a liability policy that is sometimes referred to as a "Care/Custody/Control" policy that they *SHOULD* be claiming under. This excess would be quite high, not to mention premiums going up - so naturally they would rather see the client lodge the claim and they refund excess etc - BUT THIS COUL WELL HAVE DETRIMENTAL LONG TERM IMPLICATIONS I have sent a long email off to Paul giving him an insight of the industry and what he needs to keep in the back of his mind when he is "discussing" settlement - so I hope he can come out of this in as good a position as possible. I am sure Nissan Australia could find a suitable vehicle for him, if the dealer wanted them to get involved, which I reckon they would prefer NOT TO I have been in similar situation with a dealer/manufacturer (and whilst the detail and execution was different, the result was basically the same). I took them on and won. It can be done - you just have to do it properly.
  5. Deposit Taken.. IF sale falls thru, I will re-list later Thanks to everyone who enquired on the unit...
  6. OK, thanks for all the PM's and emails about this - Rather than repeat the answers, I'll list them here. 1. At this stage, there is a fair bit of interest - so the price is not negotiable at the moment (It's OK, it doesn't hurt to ask I know) 2. The Unit is approx 2.5 years old 3. The Unit is a Mark II unit 4. It is an Alarm, Immobiliser and Tracker all in one. I beleive it is a TWO point immobiliser - plus one additional point that they use to disable the car remotely if someone steals it with the keys. 5. Yes, it can be connected to your central locking (in fact - I have aftermarket Central locking in the Skyline and it's connected to that) 6. Montoring costs me $325 per year ( $25 per month - 1st Month FREE) 7. Brand new, these cost approx $2000 8. It works perfectly, I am not selling it because it is broken, I am selling the car it is fitted to and the person who will be buying the car does not want it (or the MOMO steering wheel, DC player, UHF Radio, Brand new Alloy wheels or PIAA Fog lights) 9. If you chose NOT to have it monitored, let it lapse etc - it opperates as a normal Alarm/Immobiliser. 10. The purchaser is responsible for fitting and monitoring. 11. Fitting cost is approx $305 (standard car) if you get quiktrak to fit it for you, if you get your Auto Elect or mate to do it or you do it yourself - you can probably get it fitted cheaper. 12. You will need to get a new wiring loom to fit the unit - why ? - Because the wires are all black and not labelled ( Labels are removed from the Loom once the unit is fitted). Cost of a complete new loom with Brand New wires, connectors, LED, Relays, Switches and Software upgrade is about $280 retail (from Quiktrak). 13. I am In Sydney - it is still fitted to my car if you want to see it working, I will be paying to have the unit removed from my car. 14. At the moment - They are the ONLY areas of coverage, Sorry, I am not sure when Canberra/Adelaide/Perth/Tasmainia or Darwin etc is coming on-line Cheers
  7. I've put my pics up at www.pbase.com/driftking/sydneyrally Lighting was shit for photos....
  8. Hmm, can you say uuunnndddeeerrrsssttteeeeeerrr.. some of the guys that were running soft compound rally tyres were having heaps of problems on the skidpan. The guys with the bigger budgets / tyre sponsorships were running a road based tyre, so they seemed to fair better (stage times showed this too) I was pissed off that they canned the gravel stage, (we had a great media point scoped out) but I had a look at some sections and seriously, the track was really bad. Lucky for Cody that they gravel section was canned as originally the service after the first Tarmac run was a tyre change only, but as they ran the tarmac stage twice instead, they made it a 20 min service - so he was able to change his gearbox.. (well, his crew was able to anyway ) Live results are at http://www.rally.com.au/arc2003/premiersta...ftoken=88439625
  9. Um, I think you maybe mistaken. check the links on the Rally.com.au website for the locations http://www.rally.com.au/arc2003/premiersta...ftoken=17978909 some of my pics up at www.pbase.com/driftking/sydneyrally
  10. Navtrak ceased public sales and direct trading about 2 mths ago. The system they used was GPS/GSM and they had supply problems getting the transponder units as they were sharing the technology and supply with another company (which is still running, and installing these transponders, but not as a "theft tracking" system) Those that have existing Navtrak "theft security" systems installed are still being monitored by the 3rd party company that was set up to control this part of the service. They should be offered renewals by this company. At this stage, there are only about 3 companies offering units for sale.. Car Com is NOT one of them - they have done the same as Navtrak and ceased trading to the public - the company who supplies Car Com units is Intellimatics and they now concentrate on Holden Assist vehicle tracking. Thales (prononouced Tallis) Telematics offers the Orchid Tracking system ( the same one as fitted to BMW and Mercedes) - it uses GPS/GSM Novatronics offers a similar GPS/GSM system QuikTrak are still radio tower based - and are limited to Sydney, Brisbane / Gold Coast and Melbourne Metro areas only. I hope this helps.
  11. Brody, As the Chamber Magistrate said, there is not a lot you can do. as anyone who is claiming damages as the "third party" in the claim - you are completely at the whim of the at fault person to lodge the claim or his insurance companies desire to pay you out quickly or not. They (at fault driver/insurance company) do not owe you any level of service as the third party and if he wishes to stall the matter by disputing it - he can. regardless of the reasons for taking it to court (ie, stalling or genuinely beleives he is not at fault) there is nothing that can be done to make him, or his insurance company pay you out before the case. Personally, what I would do is issue a small debt summons directly on him, and include your personal / consequential losses (ie, hire car costs, taxi fares, and any other extraordinary out of pocket expenses this accident has caused you) as well as the cost of repairs. That way, if he IS just tring to stuff you around (ie, the day before his court case he decides to drop the matter and just pleads guilty, chances are the magistrate will take pity of you and ream his arse for stuffing you around. Also, under the normal contract of insurance - consequential loss or damage and demurage (car hire etc) are NOT something the insurance company HAS to pay out. But if you sue him as a civil matter - it will cost him PERSONALLY, and cost him an extra day off work. - You will have to mitigate your loss and prove that you have had some hardship as a result, but I have attended many cases where the full amount claimed has been awarded, plus full court costs. If he WINS his case, and it is proven that he was NOT at fault, you can withdraw and cancel the summons by attending the magistrate before the court case.
  12. I'll get my G/F to introduce you if you like, she meets up with bec and they go dog walking together You'll find that she is not into cars, and actually drives a very non-descript Civic.
  13. Pete, Sorry dude, I can't make it to take the photos now as discussed (Sorry Hooks and Scotty too) I am making a quick dash to Qld to get my Front Cut for Project sleeper - been waiting too long to let this one slip away... Have fun...
  14. Keep an eye out for an upcoming Zoom Magazine when the interview with Fred Gibson is printed..... You will be surprised just how many teams cheated and what they got away with...
  15. I'll be there on the start line taking pics - (look for a huuuuuge guy wearing Glasses and a Media vest on - that'l be me). Make yourself known to me on the day and I'll make sure I get some of your car for you to check out to see previous ones I've taken www.pbase.com/driftking and follow the Eastern Creek Links
  16. Roy, Terry sold his "Racing Duties" R31 (No. 33) to Rod Markland (who now races it with the original No.12). Keep an eye out though, Terry will be returning with another of the Gibson cars to race. Now that will be great to see TWO Nissans on the front row Airzone, Yeah whenever possible - it's just quite boring at 60 km/h though 88Silhouette, It's distributed by Chevron Publishing and it's called "The Turbolent Years". Available in VHS and DVD. Try your local Motoring Bookshop or Motoring Video store, http://www.pitstop.net.au/pitstop/prog/Ope...13PUM&PLU=12158
  17. It's actually back "home" in Terry's garage at the moment, flanked either side by George Fury's Bluebird and an immaculate 1967 Prince Skyline GT.... here are few pics from when a few of the SVD group members were invited up for lunch and a "drool" over the cars at the Terry's place.
  18. Grant from Artarmon Auto Electrical - Reserve Road Artarmon. not near Liverpool, but a bloody good auto sparkie
  19. I think that Wheels must have their data wrong.. No Autospeed, No Autoweb, - both of whom are consistantly in the top 10. Ford also ranked very high over the last 6-8 mths whilst leaking info on the BA series.
  20. Guys, Most, if not all, Nissan Dealers can order you in a factory polished R32 GT-R key ring thru their spare parts division. I ordered two when I bought my car and had one cut and ther other left blank. They will cost you about $45.00 or there abouts any decent locksmith / Mr Minit can then get it cut for you.
  21. lots more pics at www.pbase.com/driftking last 4 Eastern Creek meets covered. over 2000 photos
  22. Scotty, Yes, there is an alarm/Immobiliser component built into the system at that price. I beleive that the Immobiliser is a 3 point system (I will ring to confirm) Thanks for the Toymods links - yep - read them all and sussed out what I need etc. I got my new wheels on the weekend - (photos will be up at www.pbase.com/driftking/cressida this afternoon with the new wheels) So now I have the room to fit my new Brakes 330mm 4 pots - and then probably do the suspension at the same time. I am still trying to source a suitable front cut, and not having much luck
  23. There have been quite a few guys that have done the 1JZ-GTE (2.5L Twin Turbo) - and two that I know of that have done the 1UZ-FE (4.0L Quad Cam V8 from the Lexus) but I am not aware of anyone doing the 2JZ as yet. - If anyone has - I'd love to hear from them for a few things that have me concerned... ETA for completion is by September 2003 (because I am driving up to the Jamboree at Willowbank, and want to drive it up) - The only thing holding me back at the moment is finding a bloody Aristo front cut for the engine and gearbox etc. I am leaving it Auto (coz I am lazy now) and the torque will be more than adequate Total Budget is about $18,000 and I should be able to get about 200 to 220kW at the rear wheels. in a 100% road legal, fully engineered Luxury car that will be the ultimate sleeper.
  24. Seems strange that www.autospeed.com or www.autoweb.com.au neither get a mention and they are in the top 3 consistantly.
  25. As whatsisname said, speak to steve from dba (he is a guru and should be able to help) jump onto performanceforums and go to the dba brakes forum and ask him there. failing that (and I know your not in Sydney but I am happy to assist where I can) - give Narrabeen Brake and Clutch a call - the guys there are helping me with my 330mm upgrade to my brakes for about 2/3rds the price of other places.
