Yeah, i guess its the same as antilag. With the 2 step you use a clutch switch and when the switch is activated the ECU retards timing and adds fuel. The more you retard and add the larger the bang so more boost. The last setup that MAztech did was making 20psi and f**k me the noise was unbelievable. Its not going to be as harsh this time around. We only want about 5-7psi at first to see how it gets off the line With any luck the tyres will hold up to 15psi

That aint a 2 step!!! My girlfriends car sounds more agressive than that on a 2 step If you couldnt see it you would think it was a Pro RWD car its that loud and agressive. 20psi of boost in neutral is awesome

damn some people must be tuning lean.... each to their own and everyone has a different philosophy though Although i realise its a fair whack more power, my 1600's are at 90% at 460odd. That wil change soon though as the ID 1600's have been recalled so its up to 2000cc's

Blocked Catchcan Vent Killed My 32...
ido09s replied to partyboy73's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Give it about 20 minutes of driving and see how it goes. Oil doesnt just magically disapear as it will get into everything. It could take some time to get rid of it all -

30% is pretty right. The tuning style also has a lot to do with what size injectors will be required. Running it lean with less timing will obviously mean you can get away with smaller injectors. Tuning rich with more timing obviously means larger injectors will be required. They must be running them pretty lean to make 300rwkw on 550's

If you wanted to talk best motor, why are people not talking about the good old star fire motor!!!! lol
-
Link retails for about $2k i think and the sensor is about $400ish. Also need to factor in the possibility of needing bigger injectors unless your car is already on E85

Sounds like he should be workign weekends as he may need to strip an engine down.....

correct. Its a Govenrment policy that unleaded 91 will be pahsed out

I use eflex in our car and although the dyno said the car made less the black top said it makes quite a bit more. The car has gone from running consistant 125mph quarter mile passes to consistant 135+mph passes with just the fuel change. We didnt bother putting more boost into it as it wouldnt stay in the dyno so we just left it where it was My seat of the pants dyno also tells me that the car is much nicer to drive at any point in the RPM range I would recomend it to everyone thats for sure.

Fuel??? Is it getting hot... maybe the wiring to the pump? Have they put a fuel pressure/flow gauge on the car to test it all out? I would be getting a second opinion still on cam timing.... I have never built an RB30/25-26 in my years as a mechanic, but i seem to remember that there was somthing funky about timing the cams and, correct me if i am wrong, but you dont take to much notice of the timing marks as they basically shouldnt line up. If they do you have issues......

Same, Hell of a car that one

Sorry mate, just read that Advan was doing the work.... if your wanting to get the ethanol sensor sorted out speak to Yavuz at Unigroup engineering. I have had brief talks about doing this to my car and Yavuz is all over it and has some ideas on how to tackle it. He knows his Links as well which is a plus

This ^ They are a big heavy gearbox and they dont like being slammed through the gears. Also ditch the Redline in favour of something else. I use to use Redline until my gearbox specialist said its not that good for synchro boxes. It sticks like shit to a fan and this is its problem. It gums up the synchros and stops them from working properly.

Whos doing all the work for you?

I understand where your coming a bit better now, but i cant see why you would do that.... anyone of us that switch to E85 will be doing it for the gains obtainable from E85, so to tune it with an increased safety margin kinda seems silly to me. Thats my theory, but i guess i havent built the car to cruise, i built it to drag race so the more power i make the faster i go. With the same safety margin built in to the tune as i had previously on BP Ultimate it obviously made a pretty decent difference given i gained 15mph and it put an ever bigger smile on my face
-
Maybe my post wasnt as clear as i thought it may have been..... No fuel is safer than the next when it comes to custom tunes. You could give E85 to a dickhead and it doent mean the tune that the dickhead does is safer because of the E85. In this instance it is no different to giving said dickhead a laptop and a tank of BP Ultimate The safety in my eyes, comes from the tuner, not the fuel. If you have a tuner that tunes on the ragged edge with every fuel does that mean E85 is suddenly safer..... the tuner is still tuning at 9.9/10ths, but the added advantage is it will make more power... The tune in my car with BP 98 is no safer than the tune i have in the car on E85. It doesnt make as much power on 98, but the safety is stil there as it is tuned appropriately. Does that make more sense?
-
I wouldnt do it unless you want just that little bit more power Its got nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with running out of fuel. As DVS JEZ had already pointed out, it can be a hassle to find and uless you plan on carrying a jerry can with 20 litres in it the gain wont be worth the hassle safety comes down to your tuner..... in order to maximise the E85 you will tune the car with more timing etc which throws the safety idea out the window.

Award Diff And Gearbox
ido09s replied to Yeedogga's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Terry and Trish are absolute legends. I have used them for the last 5 years and i will definitely go back again and again I had an OS gearset put into my RB25 box a few years back. IIRC it was just after Christmas that it all went back together and the car wouldnt get gears. Terry told me to call him if there were any issues so i rang his mobile. He came down to the workshop to check it out for me and found that the reverse light switch had jammed which causes it not to get gears. We couldnt get the switch out while the box was in the car so I removed the box and took it back to his shop where he stripped it down and freed up the switch. It was all part of the service Only recently bought a second diff for the 200 and the original one had had the limo slip centre rebuilt by Terry. It got a bit niosy after numerous WSID races so i asked him to insepct it. Not a worry. He could have told me it needed bearings and what not but sent it back to me with an all clear and that the noise was simply the crown wheel and pinion. He could have lapped it for me but it was a waste of time and it probably wouldnt have fixed the noise anyway. They even picked the diff up from my house and only asked for a case of beer as payment given there was very little word carried out. They are one of the few genuine people in the industry -
Damn bogans, dont forget to put an RM Williams bulls head on the back window either lol I could probably dig up some Mack truck mud flaps if your keen as well
-
They both look pretty average to me lol The ideas are there but the care just hasnt been taken They could both look quite special but they just look like its all been done in a backyard shed..... chances are they probably were lol

Blasphemy!!!!!

haha, big bottles no throttle!!! No2 is used by those that cant make power any other way hehe

So its not entirely the engines fault. I see 4 engines there that dont have much to do with the design of the engine. Over boost/to much boost will do that to any engine, though i do under stand that a rotary is a little more delicate, A dud tuner wil end an engine fast.... seals falling out, well who knows. Monster porting..... there is a problem there as they wont run to well with very large port jobs. A well designed bridge port motor makes more power than what your mate is asking for through 3 mufflers if your using the right workshop...
