  1. I say stop being a blouse and pick something faster to aim for. A stock LS1 is just a boat anchor and i dont know why anyone would want a Skyline being compared with one. Why not choose a Veyron, or a Koenigsegg CCXR. Surely this sort of performance would be a lot more appealing I had to laugh at this though..... clearly our laws arent doing enough and obviously do need some reform.... ie school kids should stick to a PS3 and GT5 and most certainly should not be let loose in even a stock Skyline, let alone a modified one. "I have been on P plates for 3 years now but in less than a month I will graduate to my full license. I know the majority of people on here agree with keeping P platers out of high powered cars is a good idea and I cant say i disagree. But these laws definitley need an overhaul, it is clear that the people who came up with these laws don't know much about cars and as such, shouldn't have been put in charge." Oh and this is absolute GOLD!!!!! "The reality of weather you should be in a high powered vehicle or not comes down to your attitude, not your age."
  2. Alll good mate. They are a much better option than replacing the whole bush.
  3. Anyone that owns 1600cc ID's should contact the shop they were purchased from. My supplier recently received an email from them saying that they have a problem with flow rate when the fuel temps become high. Mine will be going back very soon and a set of 2000's going in which ID have offered as a replacement.
  4. I vaguelly remember this car.... pretty sure i pulled the motor out of it when the engine went. Was quite a few years ago now though wasnt it? Were we still at Silverwater or had we moved to Auburn?
  5. Your joking arent you buddy.... go back and read the brand and turbo type again. A little tip, HKS make the turbo you are referring to.... Whats wrong with you?
  6. The way you and others are talking though its like we dont know what we are talking about. Because we are behind a keyboard we know nothing, we must just be keyboard warriors who have only ever built cars on GT5 which is far from the truth. I worked at Advan for 4.5 years and built countless GTR's. Street cars, time attack cars, drag cars, show cars etc I have seen the results of what 1.15 bar of boost does to ceramic wheels. We dont doubt the power figures, we doubt the longevity of the turbo's at those boost levels. An R34 GTR will happily make that power, but for how long I think we have all made our point and your happy with the car so thats the main thing.
  7. Sorry mate but i hate acronyms.... I assume you are referring to noise? The alloy JJR cradle bushes dont increase noise as they dont actually mount to the metal of the car. There is some rubber that shields them from this which is also why they are so good. I have fitted them to so many cars, some of which had the nastiest looking bushes, and there was no noise apparent after they were fitted. Many years ago we removed the stock rubber and replaced them with a full billet alloy bush. It was the worst thing we could have done as that has cereated lots of noise through the car These alloy cradle bushes werent around back then though so we didnt have much choice. At least we know what the noise is so we dont worry to much about it
  8. I cant give any advice on Perth but contact the governing body in Perth for the correct answers. Asking the net will get you a number of different replies which may cause more confusion. As for importing the car.... Try calling a freight forwarder here in Oz called UTI, they should be able to help you out with importing it
  9. Dont bother with those whiteline mounts or drift pineapples/subframe lock and align kits Your better off using the JJR bush kit i have linked below. They will fix everything at once. No need to drop the whole ass end out of the car entirely to replace the bushes, all you do is lower the cradle and slip the alloy bushes in. It doesnt really matter if your current bushes are rooted as they are designed to slip into the gooves of the standard bushes and lock the cradle solid. They work very well http://www.justjap.c...&cat=398&page=1 The front cross member doesnt have bushes as it bolts up directly to the chassis rails
  10. There doesnt need to be a risk though.... if your building a race car and want everything out of it then yes, you will run it closer to the edge, but even then there should be no real risk of hurting the drive line. If you need to risk something to get somewhere/something or achieve your goals, then it hasnt been built properly or your simply asking to much from it. I built an engine for my car and my intention was to have the car as a streeter/weekend drag racer. I wanted abot 700hp and that was achieved 5+ years ago.. I didnt build an engine with stock rods and pistons because i have seen them hold this power level before, its a risk they wont, so i built it accordingly. I have seen stock motors with huge ass turbo's making 700hp but for how long.... Clearly, as your mate has pointed out, you have the cash flow to build it properly so why would you take the risk in hurting more than just a turbo charger. Its well documented that some turbo are luckier than others, but that also carries through to the engine when the turbo fails. The engine will probably go for another 10 years if its looked after. Get some -5's and swap them over and it will make 300+ with the support mods you alreayd have. It will do that day in day out and you will never have to worry about a turbo failure due to a wheel falling off. You may have one of those lucky pairs of turbos that just dont let go, but you might also not and i assure you that you will kick yourself if one of them lets go and it takes your engine with it Are you sure about that lol There isnt only one GTR mechanic in Sydney mate, lots of us on here have done it for a living
  11. bleed it again and if that doesnt fix it look elsewhere. If the line was lose there is a chance it now has air in the system
  12. haha, the previous quote just aletred me to this comment. So how many have you built? Clearly the one GTR you owned that you probably paid a workshop to build for you makes you an expert does it lol Please correct me if i am wrong though as i like being proven wrong. What a shit attitude to have, you can afford to fix it so lets go and f**k it up. Not your exact words but thats what your implying. With an attitude like that you dont deserve to own a GTR in my eyes Should my mate go out and crash his Superleggera or blow the motor up just because he can afford to fix it. Hell no. Why someone would want to damage something just because they can afford to fix it is beyond me.
  13. Are you sure it was Jim who did this work? lol It doesnt sound like Jim at all..... inflated figures, boost levels being to high..... This does not sound like Jim to me at all
  14. Its one thing to be happy with the car now, but how happy are you going to be when the turbo falls apart... I have seen R34's make 280rwkw on standard turbos whilst i was at Advan. Cant recall how much boost it was running though as it was many years ago.
  15. I have known Jim for many many years and thought he was a little smarter than that 1.15 bar of boost on a ceramic turbo is destined for failure. Give him a call and make sure thats what it was actually tuned for as the colder weather may very well be causing it to over boost out on the road.
  16. I would go somewhere else and get a second opinion.I dont know how the motor was built but to be tuning it for full load on a 30 minute old engine seems a little odd to me. Please correct me if its only a base tune for the run in process that they are doing. Are they sure that its knock they are hearing and not an engine noise?
  17. Sounds like you have found your problem then
  18. I was also going to ask a few questions re screamer pipe, piston clearances etc as these things can send the knock on the ECU off prematurely but if it can be heard in the engine bay or seen coming out the tail pipe that puts my theory to bed. Dont take this the wrong way, but is it an experienced guy listening to the motor? Is it really pinging? or is it an engine noise they are mistaking as pinging? Can you see it out the tail pipe? normally a puff of black smoke....
  19. Joanne always knew how to charge for her parts and it was rare to see the shop change much each time you went in there. I am surprised that any shop in Sydney that doesnt have a huge customer base of drag racers or circuits racers is still around.
  20. Do you have all the standard parts?
  21. And cam gears which were not set to 0. Set the cams back to factory and see what happens.... my guess is that your comp will suddenly change for the better
  22. An EVO goes off road.... yeah sure they do, but get one to follow you into the Kakadu and see how far it gets.... ever heard the saying your car looks like a 4WD..... We could talk about this all day but my point is that in my world a 4WD is an off road car, an AWD is something that is driven by all four wheels but cannot go off road. I dont think Subaru did a bad job on marketing with the AWD thing. I think what they were trying to do was actually tell people their cars were not meant to go into the tough off road conditions that we knew a 4WD could handle. Tell someone their car is a 4WD and they will try and take it off road only to be very disappointed in its 'offroad' ability. Back in the day, as we older folk know it, a 4WD was a Nissan Patrol, a Toyota Landcruiser, a Range Rover etc Subaru's were not a 4WD as they would not successfully go where a 4WD could go Exactly. Those that have one want to claim its something its not as it makes their car sound more appealing. if i put a Ferarri bodykit on a Celica does it make it a Ferarri? Of course not. Simply changing the drive train on a 4 door R32 does not make it a GTR. Run the chassis number through the FAST system and it will tell you its a generic 4 door Skyline....
  23. your not trying to push the clutch fork with your hand are you as there is no way in hell you will move it. I would say you just havent bled it properly. Even if its the wrong cylinder it would still move, it just wouldnt move enough to get gears thats all. If it doesnt move at all, ie by pushing the clutch fork with a pry bar, by operating the clutch through the pedal, then you have something wrong inside the bell housing. Why are you using a 20 box on a 25 anyway? I hope your not a crazy driver as ist not going to last long
  24. This thread is full of win lol AWD, 4WD. One is for the road the other is for offroad is how i see it. A GTR is probably more 2wd than 4wd given the front wheels dont drive the car all the time 4 door GTR lol They did make them but his car is far from a 4 door GTR
  25. If its warm Its is a bit low, and i would expect to see 160psi in each cylinder. I cant say i ever tested one cold so not sure what you would expect to see, Its already been said but treat it nicely, limit boost pressure and she will be right. I wouldnt go winding 20psi into it and expecting it run 11's as its just not going to happen.
