  1. I use Unigroup for all my tuning needs. But, as for the dump pipe, do some real research and find out what suits best. Everyone here will say 4 inch as it sounds good but it might just be to big.
  2. Maybe AVO just dont know how to get the car to come on boost sooner? Maybe there is an issue with the car? There may be something causing a restriction or an inferior/failing part. (thats not having a go at the car or the owner or AVO, its just a general comment) A second opinion is always good if your not happy with the work done on the car but i wouldnt be to hard on AVO just yet..... I know my car has recently been switched to E85 and the dyno figure actually went backwards.... am i disapointed, not just yet. We lost 20kwatw's, but the car was a lot harder to keep on the dyno this time around. One of the most reliable ways to tell whether it has gone forwards or not is to run it down the quarter. As long as my car runs quicker than 133mph i will be happy with the loss of power. If it doesnt i will quiz Yavuz as to what may be the cause. It made good power on pump, but maybe the setup isnt right for E85 and i may need to change something to suit it....
  3. I would always have the tune checked after doing an actuator change/boost controller reconfiguration. The actuator may allow the turbo to make more/less boost in certain areas of the map therefore messing with the tune.
  4. Damn mate, i was looking forward to catching up with you as well Good that you sold the car though Surely one of Jean's brothers has something that you could have some fun with?
  5. I have already posted on there but i believe there day was for an unlimited type day where numbers are very limited and you can run what ever time you want
  6. Any word from WSID yet as AusRotary just had a few members post up that a track day they were attending has been cancelled. WSID are doing track maintenance and the rain has made it impossible to finish them.... apparently their day was booked for the 25th and WSID have said at least 2 weeks before they can complete the track works.
  7. if they arent coming with an entrantSo whats the go with this event.... normally names etc need to be given to WSID 2 weeks or so out from the event dont they and there isnt exactly a lot of paid up people....
  8. I am with Norm, i wouldnt mind doing a few heli's at some point during the day At the end of the day we are renting a facility for exclusive use of those who paid to use it. If there is a burnout pad i would use it if i was allowed to
  9. What tyres were fitted to this to make them fit under the S15 guards?
  10. Kenny, we will all be there so will be sure to come and catch up with you Charlie - thanks mate. The more people i have willing me on the better. Its been way to may years in the making lol I am glad i havent been booted so far as i have had the chance to have more fun with the car, but its time something big happens
  11. Have you ever thought that given i worked for a workshop that i may know more than one way to build an RB26? Customers come in all the time with different goals and it was our job to build them a car that suited your needs. Some wanted response, some wanted outright power, some wanted drag strip times, others wanted track reliablity etc etc etc Its already been said but you have asked for advice and basically spat in all our faces. We arent the arrogant ones, you are becvause your not getting the answer you want, and that answer is that twin 2835's are going to be responsive, give the most linear power curve and be happy to make 500rwkw on an engine built for 400rwkw. Which coincidentally you dont even know how it was built. I dont know many car enthusiasts that cant rattle off their exact engine specs 5 or more years after they have built their engine. If you want to hear that 2835's are going to be wicked your on the wrong forum. www.nissansilvia.com is where you need to join up to if you want to hear those resposnses
  12. I am going to comment further, having worked for a workshop who in its lifetime has built some of the toughest GTR's Australia has probably seen i think i am more than qualified to comment on what you are trying to build. I am no stranger to playing part in building many a Skyline that has seen the high side of 400+rwkw and having helped build cars that have happily run good numbers at the drag strip and gotten podium places in such events as Targa Tasmania i think i know what it takes to build something that will make the power and last a bit longer than most others..... I shiver thinking of te number of times i have seen someone push aside the advice given and build what they want, only to find out the advice they got was the direction they should have taken You asked for advice and every person on here has given it to you. We are not the idiots who have no idea, you are. You set out what you wanted from the car and peope advised on it, and quite unanimously actually. If its not what you wanted to hear then why did you even bother asking the question..... a scary car with a bottom end built for 400rwkw.... the only thing scary about that are the bits that are going to go flying out of it when it lets go at 9500rpm This got me laughing pretty hard. If you think a car with a top end peak power band of 1500rpm is going to be fast then you are sadly wrong. A GTR making 250rwkw with standard turbos would most certainly be a faster can than your 500rwkw lag monster So is it Blackwood Dyno Tune offering you this advice?
  13. You have no idea and i dont know why any of us are even bothering to reply to this thread. Do what you want but dont come back here crying saying it doesnt make power, or your right, it is a f**king pig to drive and i hate the car now its for sale.... My last comment will be if you want the biggest pig of a car to drive you are better of selling the car and buying a donkey Piggaz, the dyno i believe was a little happy but not over the top. I think 420-430 may have been more realistic but i dont have any other dynos that this car went on to compare it with. All i know is the car was an absolute weapon to drive.
  14. Yep, -5s all the way We built a car while i was working at Advan Performance that ran -5's with a healthy head and sensible cams and on about 24psi of boost made about 450rwkw on BP Ultimate. Thats more power than you will ever need on the street and also a very healthy power figure for the track. Using these you wont need to worry about defects, you wont need to build a bottom end capable of 9500rpm and you will get much better response than you could ever dream of getting with the 2835's.
  15. I do have a couple, i dont think they were much chop but will post something up tonight if i get a chance. PM me your email addy and i will send you the high res versions i got N1GTR, i also got a crap load more of your car, so many i cant post them all up, but leave me your email addy as well and i will send some off to you
  16. Will this finally be the day we get booted, and get an SAU trophy to back up the time slip It will look good next the Best Engine Bay and Best Non Skyline trophy we won way back in 2005 at the Show'n'Shine. Having run 11.1 at 133 is oh so close I have just paid up via net banking. I need to confirm a few things with regards to people accompanying me on the day and will then send through the form. I used my name and nick name in the description. How long do we have till we need to finalise our spectator list as i could send the paper work off now and finalise it closer to the day
  17. Sounds to me like you just want to be able to say i have twin 2835's on my GTR..... bragging rights are great when you tell people you make 500rwkw with twi 2835's, but it all goes to shit when your mates 250rwkw SR leaves you in his tyre smoke because you have so much lag You will not be happy with them and your car will not make 500rwkw on a basic engine build As has been said before, head work will be mandatory to make this sort of power and it will have to be done well to work properly. Prepare to spend about $3k on porting alone as a base price. you could spend less but the time spent on a head to support 500rwkw will not get you any change from $3k. You will then need to have some pretty decent hardware in the head to make it all stay together The bottom end will need to have some decent bits put into it and again, will need to be put together by someone who knows how to build an RB26 properly. To make 500rwkw with this turbo set up you will need to spin it to over 9500rpm and it will need a considerable amount of boost to do it as well. I am not talking 30psi+ but you will be stretching pump fuel limits to make 500rwkw so consider switching the car to E85. A standard crank will put up with 9500+ for a short time but it wont do it for ever. Consider buying a Tomei/Crower stroker kit or something similiar. Be prepared to spend about $6k on parts, then assembly. A gearbox and clutch will definitely be on the cards. A PPG gearbox once setup will cost you close to $10k, then about $3500 for a quality multi plate. I wouldnt use a synchro box, i would go dog with that much power which means a maintenance schedule then needs to be adopted to maintain the dogs engagement etc You would probably be looking at 10,000klms max between services for a dog box We havent even started on fuel system, engine management, cooling etc I dont think people realise just how much money you need to spend to support 500rwkw reliably. I would budget minimum $50k to build a car to support this much power. If i was you i would be selling them off and getting a hold of a T78-33D kit, or a TO4Z kit. We make 460rwkw on pump with a T78 and with head work we see boost at about 3000rpm, on full boost no later than 4000rpm. A twin 2835 kit, even with head work, will not see boost before 5000rpm and that makes for a very very slow car
  18. Here are a few of my pics
  19. Seemed like a stack of fun out there. The wet weather probably made it even more fun I was there to take a look see (my girlfriend and i had the black Labrador puppy with us) and got quite a few pics. Is there anyone here that had plates on their cars that doesnt want photos put up on the internet? I dont know how to use any form of photo shop properly and would wreck the pics trying to remove the plates
  20. You guys were having some serious fun out there today. The fact it was wet would have made it more fun i am sure
  21. Count me in I will fill in the forms and make payment soon. I havent read the entire thread but has the list been updated? or is it correct that there is more spectators than entrants? Is the cost set $220 regardless of how many people enter? or will the final cost be dependant on numbers entered? and i gather spectator tickets are allocated to entrants before anyone else? I have 5 spectators Andrea Chenouda Greg Tolpigin Daniel Nichol Hilton Smith Jan Smith I hope you dont mind but i have also added a link to a thread on vwgolf.net.au. The owner of the forum was trying to organise a day at WSID and isnt having much luck getting a response back from WSID staff. I am sure they will be able to help make up numbers
  22. Especially if its an RB26. When i was at Advan we used nothing but 300V 20W60 in GTR's and after pulling several down for freshen ups i can say the oilis awesome. Because of this i will use nothing but the 300V in my own car. You certainly pay a premium for 300V but if it means the engine lives longer who is going to complain
  23. Care to elaborate on why they dont make a perfectly good daily driver? as i beg to differ Being the owner of 4 rotaries so far i can tell you that my old R100, a 13BT that ran mid 12 all day long, was driven a good 30klms in peak hour traffic on a daily basis and was never an issue. I drove it to work for a good 18 months and it was trouble free. No personal attack on your mates but clearly they need to find a decent mechanic as the ones they are using sound pretty useless. Reliablity is not an issue if they are put together properly and BLOJOE is a perfect example of this. A car that if set up properly ie slicks, rollcage etc would run high 8's and it cops it every time the car gets started up. Joe has raped this car and it always comes back for more. I have also seen an FD with its original engine and 250,000klms.... If people wanna pick on engine parts ie seals, lets not go near the RB26 oil pump lol
  24. Mark - great to hear your ok and the car isnt damaged to badly. It looked rather nasty, and sounded that way as well, but as you say rear damage is an easy repair in the right hands I guess i may be sarting a rumor but i am sure i over heard one of the HTL team talking about leaving the car here and testing in Sydney.... would be awesome to see these 2 cars go head to head at some point in time soon
