Blue Slip/Import Papers?
DAN00H replied to Russkie's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Mate, you are up sh1t creek then. if you don't have the import approval from DOTARS, you best write to them and request a copy. Otherwise forget about getting it rego'd in NSW. If the car was rego'd in QLD for 2 years or more then you are safe. If not, it will need to satisfy the NSW engineer regs - Hope you have the engineer cert.... if you have this you will then have to check that the engineer that did your car is registered to certify cars in NSW. Seriously it is that crappy... If you (a) don't have the import approval, (B) don't have the engineer cert, or © have a car that was rego'd in QLD for at least 2 yrs, then you are screwed and are silly fo buying a car without that paperwork. But never mind that - write to DOTARS, see if the engineer is certified in NSW and see how long it was regod in QLD.... Good luck, you are going to need it. (NB - I went ot change my rego from ACT to NSW, short story, they wanted me to get a new engineer cert to show it met NSW standards - solution, I'm leaving it rego'd in ACT until it reaches 2 years...) -
john's number is 0417 230 074. let him know that you have the NSW engineer cert and it might be a bit cheaper for you. to get everything done through him cost me $450 (inc 2 visits, supplying tyre placard, fuel door label etc etc) I'd try to go through another inspector to avoid paying $450 for the cert. just get the VIN plate, then take it for inspection. NB after 2 years rego in one state it can be trasferred no worries.

hmm, that would have been a bit of fun! My rims are the same size as yours.
-
ha ha ha - you poor bugger, we have all had it tough with the trip to the pits. John can give you the sticker for your fuel filler door, and as Nik mentioned he can also engineer your wheels - Although Nik, all he did with mine was measure them, had a quick look and said they were fine, then stuck a new placard on (maybe he liked me more LOL ) nugget, you can get a cheap 3rd brake light from kmart/ supercheap/ autobarn etc takes 15 min to install! Do you have the child restraints? if not you can get them from Autopro in Tuggeranong for $30 a pair. I imagine you have the intrusion bars? Go to an engraver, the guys at dickson wanted me to get a plate that had the DOTARS import approval number - make sure you have this as well, otherwise they will ping you again... Seriously dude, silly trying them without all that stuff - I have posted sh1tloads on getting the 15yr cars through. if you need any help sing out.

No.7 above - would that be the 'phantom edition' as it didn't exist in 1924???? -
if I had a smaller pic of mine I'd post it up...
-
my thoughts exactly....

Now i like the twin turbo idea where they're sequential sequence turbos. You have one large turbo spool into another smaller turbo. Say your "large" turbo is a GT28 on an RB25. That would spool up plenty fast for everyone, agreed? taken from post 73. Now having had a very detailed look at the bandag bullet and discussing it with the owner, it doesn't work this way... If anyone is not familiar with it, it runs 2 V8's in tandem, 2 x superchargers and 4 turbos. it is the 2 smaller turbos that are feeding the 2 larger units, not the other way around.

I'm inclinded to believe mine fit the immaculate bracket. when we changed the clutch, it was the original unissa plate, that was simply warn from 90,000km. no feathering of the material, no broken springs, or smashed/bent spring housings and the flywheel had no cracks / gouge marks. my mate who assisted in changing it worked for a brake and clutch place and said it was akin to something that was driven by a grandpa! based on the service history stickers and cam belt change, I wouldn't be surprised if the KM's are accurate. Thats not really the point though - I think my GTR is great, I was lucky enough to buy it BEFORE people started thinking 15yr rule and am very happy with it Anyway - if someone does sell their 89' for 30k, so what? I've seen then as low as 20k on carsales...
-
agree with the other guys who bought the 89 GTR to keep. I will be keeping mine (unless I can afford an R34 - HA HA HA!). I'm very impressed with mine - the engineer that did the report wanted to buy it on the spot! he has even rang me twice wanting to buy it good buy - hell yeah! much cheaper and on par with (and better in most cases) than the other GTR's that were available before the 15yr rule...

ok - guess we can share te spotlight then

Hey! I said it first!! post 43!

Rexbo Come on mate - when was th last time F1 was turbo!! they are not running 'a big single' they are NA!... Audi ran twins in the LM cars, as did toyota & nissan THIS YEARS WINNER Bently speed 8 - OH LOOK!! TWIN TURBOS - SHOCK!!!. Ever look at the serria cosworth 500? comments from the drivers of the time speak of the difficulties when the thing came onto boost - it ran a single and raced against the TT GTR... JGTC - the R34 ran the V6TT that is now in the Zed.... I think you will find twins are used for more than just packaging or sales hype. One way to put this to bed, is get two IDENTICAL engines and slap on a set of twins on one and a single on the other. Careful attention would need to be paid to the manifold design of both to ensure they both got the best gas flow. Otherwise, same came, ecu injectors etc.....

do the pistons have 4 cut outs? RB30's only had 2 valves per cyl?
-
I use redline throughout. expensive, but if it keeps it all happy - then it is cheap insurance.
-
sounds like it is the same thing (seeing as X and S are adjacent).
-
I'd say ship from japan, as some of the Australian mods may have to be changed for US mods.
