  1. you can import your own (if you are quick) under the 15 yr rule, but it is a road that is fought with peril (many pitfalls) I did it and have come up trumps - but that's not going to be the case for every car. (mine was one of the rare, only driven to church every Sunday types... with the old woman being such a safety focused type, she even fitted a roll cage!!!)
  2. I'm getting a genuine US made hi flow and paying the extra $100 for it ober the universal (total cost $450 fitted)
  3. have you thought about the redline range of oils??? I just spent $240 on engine and gearbox oil....
  4. any decent latish model sports bike with a good rider is going to slaughter a modded GTR - fact of life. as for putting a gtr through the twisty stuff against a sports bike, it's the same situation. I'm all for the GTR, but light weight is cheap horsepower...
  5. kits are made in the US where they use the existing hinges, with a system that allows the door to open 'normally' for about 2 inches, before being lifted skyward on a gas strut. eventually going to get some for mine!
  6. Did you also get a Supra???
  7. he took my car from the wharf to Hobbs (what a rort) cleaners, then from Hobbs to my house. $620 - which I was happy with as i didn't want the trouble of going to Sydney and taking a day off work etc. he picked up my paperwork and organised to get it up the line to be cleaned and brought it down that night!
  8. how 'big' was the misfire? was it a hesitation/cough, or more of a backfire? check your fuel filter - could be as simple as a blockage. was the car pulling hard before it happened? I haven't revved my car over 3000rpm (free rev) as I want to go right over it. I bought it redline engine and gearbox oil the other day - so will be changing that before I actually take the car on the road. My car ran out of fuel on in my drive after we took it off the back of the truck - I will changing the fuel filter as well. hopefully it is more of a minor thing with your car
  9. Godzillr - let me know how it goes, as I got my R last week and it is looking pretty good. did you hear any loud/bad noises when you reved to 6k?, did it rev cleanly or stutter and fluff? how much fuel did you hav in the car??? good luck with it, look forward to catching up with you.
  10. I'm going to run Toyo proxis T1-S on my GTR, only $20 more than the falken st115 (but a much better tyre)
  11. no worries - happy to chat about the 15 yr process to anyone, I'll be running around on Friday getting my car ready for rego, so if anyone sees a silver 32 R with black and red rims - that's me! Just a note to anyone else who might be going to rego an 89' in the ACT - check it out with the dickson rego office before you pay $500 - $1500 to get it "complied"... you may not need to spend that much! have the cage sitting at home - haven't thought about a price (I have no idea what they arte worth!) anyone have any ideas? I might reassemble it and post a pic.
  12. I got a quote on 255/40/17 for my GTR on ST115 $290 and the FK451 $300, but won't be going with them. I have driven a friends car and didn't find them that impressive, also know of someone who only got 9000km off a set of Fk451's ona GTR. I got a quote of $320 for the Toyo Proxes T1-S http://www.toyo.com.au/PCRPDFs/PXT1-S.pdf I'm also looking at pirelli P6000, bridgstone S03, Yoko AVS V102 (waiting on prices) - I figure it's worth spending a few extra bucks to go a better tyre. I'll let you know the price of the above tyres. I currently have 509's on my EA ford POS and potenza GIII on my wifes car.
  13. Hi Stirlo I spoke to the head inspector in Dickson that runs the show (have name and details somewhere) he said intrusion bars not needed if rego in ACT, DOES need child restraint points fitted in the rear and must pass a roadworthy inspection (tyres, oils leaks, ride height, noise level, Cat, tint, brake test, rust etc...) I had to do the same when I got a car from QLD. What is your car then? I had Milan bring mine down on Tuesday night - he does a lot of them and really liked mine... Know anyone that wants to buy a rollcage?? I took mine out.
  14. Black R32 GTS-T (NSW ALF plate on P's) on Tuesday night around 9pm heading south on Athlon Drive. I was leading the truck with my GTR on the back that you were checking out!
  15. Thanks Shell, it's great to finally have the car - it's in much better condition than I expected too!!! I should have it on the road in a week or two (depending on what the inspectors at Dickson say!!). I've got a few jobs to do, namely raise the suspension (front lip is only 60 - 70mm off the ground and fit a cat. Looking forward to catching up with everyone.
  16. yeah - it's on the truck now. arrives at my house later tonight!
  17. Well, it's been a battle - and a learning experience, but it looks like my car will arrive tonight! After waiting near enough to seven months, running into problems with DOTARS, cleaning and trucking it appears the process has been somewhat of a success... What lays ahead? a few compliance mods, over the pits, rego and hello blacktop. Would I go through it again???? Thats a tough question to answer, I'm yet to see the car, but from all reports - it's good, but thinking of all the 'testing periods' I've had to endure, I'd almost have to say no.... but then again.... enthuasim is a hard thing to supress. If anyone wants to know more about the whloe process, let me know. I look forward to seeing you all on the street, I'll post pics soon (Silver R32 with black and red rims)
  18. spotted yesterday afternoon - Nice dark silver R33 GTR heading towards parliment house about 5:50pm, dark red R33 GTS-T, A/M rims, no rear wing heading along cotter Rd towards city about 6:10 and black R33 GTS-T, GTR style wing, silver (mesh style?) rims turning right from parkway off ramp, onto the cotter rd, heading to Weston.

  20. the more the better! I pick mine up next week - expect to see it rollin around a fortnight after that...
  21. That's a nice looking ride! only got a quick look as I had to watch the traffic!
  22. silver R33 GTS-T heading out of the city on parks way beside the ANU. around 5:40pm.
  23. hot looking Yellow R33 GTS-T with twin red stripes running over the bonnet, roof and boot. Tuesday around 8am heading south on the parkway....
  24. Did anyone notice in the reply posted by fooey (cheers by the way) that 'The Response policies are still underwritten by an unauthorised foreign insurer. This one is registered in Guernsey' um, hello - Famous is also underwritten by a company in this location... Am I just being too pessimistic? Has anyone approched an insurer and said we have X number of member, can you do us a deal? surely group buying power woudl help?
  25. I've got nothing to prove to you, I know where I stand - sounds to me like you are happy to take the shaft, enjoy. From here on in I'm wasting my time! Later, NOT.
