I'm thinking of buying a GT-R R35 to rent out to help with brand exposure, whilst renting it out on a daily basis. What do you think a fair cost would be? I'd want it covered in promotional vinyl if that changes things. Also, wondering if there be any way to ensure it isn't abused.

Still no sign!

No. Sorry, I didn't communicate very well. They only charge me around $250 for the transmitter part. The little old-school steel key part is nearly $700 that has to be imported from Japan. It's a dimple key with little dimple holes drilled through it. Why is costs nearly $700, I don't know. Plus, on the GT-R, it's never actually used.

Dealership said the transmitters cost them about $250 including keying if I do them at the same time. I'm going to get a spare one of them.

The plot thickens... I just phoned QLD transport and they said it was strange that SPER requested payment of my fine. They said that it should have been QLD transport that I paid the fine to when they receive result of court hearing (which they haven't received yet). QLD transport said the status of my license is "valid" and the status of my court hearing is "pending". Also, to the poster who said I had no balls by not fighting all the way... 2 other posts said they spent over $5k fighting it all the way and lost. My friend has tried to fight courts himself using the BS from some ebook that another poster recommended. The Judge just laughed at him and said guilty. I still believe the smartest thing to do is to plead guilty and then build a strong case for requesting a work license with the help of a lawyer at a fee of $1000 if required. 2 private lawyers and the duty lawyer on my recon day all suggested this was the best option. They explained "pleading guilty to the offense is a good way to initially build brownie points in the courts eyes for when deciding to grant a work license at a later date."

I have no plan to drive while suspended. Not worth it. Still don't know yet. Has been 5 weeks since court date.
-
Still no suspension notification in the mail. Not sure what's going on. I phoned the court and they said the offence wasn't modified by the judge so I was guilty of 42km/hr over. I paid the SPER fine. They are then supposed to send results to QLD transport which they haven't done yet. They said it usually takes 5 days, but could be delayed due to floods.

For the record, I'm always packing lots of guns and knives an shit. Oh, and my dog is always hungry and my neighbor is a cop. Just sayin'.
-
Sorry, didn't see this question before. They are stock wheels. They're pretty dark normally, but they are a little dirty as well. The brake dust dirty's them up very quickly.
-
Lol. You got me. Nice find.
-
It's $1000 for just one key. I heard merc keys start at $2500! Previous owner lost one key. I think my key is at a lost found department in one of many Airports in Australia. I tried MEL and BNE, where I flew. Offered reward. No response. Ha ha, nope. Not the best run. :-) I'll live though!
-
Lol. Okay, you tell me the address where I keep the car :-)
-
Replacement key costs $1040 from Japan. Has to be towed to dealership for re-keying.
-
Yes. Wish I did that now. Actually, I wish I registered the car in my business name like the GT-R owners that actually have half a brain.

I rang Queensland Transport. They were actually quite friendly and helpful. They said suspension is sent out when they receive notification that I have paid the fine, which they hadn't yet received. Sucks #1. My cop mate also confirmed that my status is "prosecution pending" Sucks #2. Looks like suspension will come. Unfortunately, I read everywhere that work license can't be applied for when it's a 40km/h offense. So it looks like the "hardship" license is a separate application, different to the work license.
-
They accepted my guilty plea and I paid the fine of around $1080 including court fees about 1 week ago. I still don't know if I have received the 6 month suspension. Apparently it comes separately.

Yeh, after more consideration, I think you're right. I think if I fabricated a technicality like, agree with my brother for me to say "it was brother" and then for him to go "no, it was him" back and forth, causing them to prove which one of us it was and then maybe open it up and say "it was someone at my company and I don't know who. The guy I thought who had it swears it wasn't him so now I don't know who it was. I don't remember driving the car that day" etc.... I just didn't have the balls to do it. Also, the solicitors thinks there's a good chance of hardship license and pleading guilty increases the chances of getting a hardship license.

I faxed a guilty plea the day before and included the following information in view of mitigation of penalty: This was a once off, regrettable mistake whilst following a friend, overtaking another car. I am embarrassed to have done this and do not wish to ever do it again. Although I have had minor traffic infringements approximately 3 years ago, my history shows a clean record, especially for anything as serious as this. I am a director of car rental firm, VroomVroomVroom PTY LTD and I employ and am responsible for 12 staff in Brisbane, London and Las Vegas. My license is required to carry out my job properly locally and internationally. I volunteer for Bravehearts foundation on occasion by renting and driving a 12 seater van for their "Park and Ride" service during special events. See attached, a thank you letter. I would appreciate an increased fine, a period of community service or a reduced suspension so I can continue to volunteer and keep my company profitable. I won't hear the result until they send it in the mail. I'm 99% certain I'll get a fine and the 6 months suspension. From there, I will be apply to appear in court for a hardship license and will probably use a solicitor for $1000 for this service.
-
I agree. The benefits of going public with this far outweigh the nearly impossible chance of minor negatives. They will not present this in court, even if it were found. Also, I haven't said anything on here that I wouldn't say in court. I don't want to lie in court, even though others have recommended this.
-
If they take 2 photos (they usually take many, only one with flash), then I will be shamed and possibly fined even more for lying and a far reduced chance of work license.

Court date is tomorrow. I've been told by lawyers that it is better to please guilty before the date and that apparently the judge don't really deliberate on the penalty. Apparently, pleading guilty early earns brownie points for negotiating a hardship license. I will be sending in a fax to plead guilty today. The floods may prevent me from getting there anyway and I don't want to delay anymore. I visited court on Monday for reconnaissance. It was full of bogans. Absolute bogans. There were repeat offenders, wife beaters, DV cases, cop fighters, resisting arrests, all sorts of shit. The judge was handing out penalties. The worse was $500 with 2 months to pay. Compare that to $980 and 6 months license suspension and it doesn't make sense. Can anyone with experience tell me what to say to the judge so I don't get suspension? If not, I'm pleading guilty today.
-
If you want to delay the fine, you can appeal at first, wait for notice to appear in court, then just plead guilty before the court date and the fine process will then begin. I think that would work here. Not sure about WA though sorry.

I loved Beer Barons post about the story of the 3min parking too long VERSUS the beating up the inspector and which receives a worse fine. To rev210... I haven't taken offence, although I think you might find people are more receptive if you review your technique of sharing your opinion. At the moment, it is hard for one to listen and appreciate your words fully. I do know what you were trying to say if I take out some parts. 99% of the time, I think most people on here agree with your points. If you read all my posts, you'll see I don't wish to choose the options of lying in court nor some others options like you were suggesting. I do want to be penalised, just not so harshly in this case. I understand that there are people who have unfortunately been exposed to death or injury due to speeding in some way and I understand that it'd be very difficult to show any co-operation in this discussion. Rest assured, most car enthusiasts are on your side and do not support nor condone unsafe driving on the street. This is usually reserved to the hoons who make us look bad. UPDATE: The court summons has arrived. January 14th is the date. I'm 10% sure I'm going to have any success. Plan now is to speak more to a solicitor and spend a day in court for preparation.
-
I don't know if it's worth appealing yet. You usually have payment options if you have financial difficulties. It's the 6 month suspension that sucks more than the $1000 fine for me. Do you have a similar suspension law in WA ?
-
For the record it turned out to be an 80 zone. I was 122 in an 80 zone. The problem is context. It is impossible for the law makers to always put a law in context with the crime. 100 in a 60 zone in a suburban street with people everywhere whilst going around a corner is context that deserves very severe punishment. 120 in a 80 zone in a quiet area on a long straight with no pedestrians and nearly empty road is totally different context and deserves punishment. For a lawmaker, I imagine it would be nearly impossible to differentiate the context between the two whilst keeping things simple enough to manage. Unfortunately, sometimes people will be punished more than they deserve and sometimes people will not be punished enough. That's just the way it is and is the reason I am requesting a court summons to see what happens. (it STILL hasn't arrived by the way)
