  1. So, I have been caught by a speed camera doing 40km over. It was a once off stupid mistake and very regrettable. I was following a friend up a quiet mountain drive when we came across a slower car for a while. At first opportunity we used a long overtaking lane. While watching the road ahead and focusing on the actual overtaking, I didn't watch my speedometer and the speed camera clocked me at 122km/h. Some of the straights on this mountain are 100km/h I think. Unfortunately, this was an 80 zone. I was 42km/h over the limit. In Queensland, 40km over is 8 points, $933 fine and 6 months suspension. I know this is inexcusable and I feel quite ashamed as I'm usually very careful on the roads. When I first bought the GT-R I intentionally drove 10km under the speed limit for 2 weeks so I could reset my idea of what speed I was doing. I'm trying to decide what to do decide I deserve to lose my license for 6 months try to have the penalty reduced to 39km over so I can keep license try to have penalty overturned with the help of a solictor. eg(2 cars in photo, front photo instead of back etc..) pay the fines, take the suspension and then apply for special work license or something What would you do?
  2. I was at QLD raceway today for the open time attack to watch. I'd never been there before. I think I'm hooked. Can't wait to take the R35 around there. What kind of times were the R35's doing yesterday? It seems like 60sec is a really good time. Today there was: R35: I think he was new. broke early and long. (prob like what I'd do when I first start out) GT3: Was getting some good times. His lip head butted the road during braking at the end of the straight. Scared me at first. Thought it was cogs shattering. GT2: Arrived on a trailer. Looked fantastic. Definately got the attention of the day. Suffered from mechanical problems every 2nd lap unfortunately. Was great fun. Was like go-karting for adults. Can't wait to go back.
  3. Oh man!!!!! I would have loved to do this. How do I get notified in future? I sent in my little "change of ownership" form out of the user manual to Nissan HQ. I never heard anything from them about it. Oh well. Will probably do a time attack day later in the year as a work Christmas BBQ or something.
  4. Yes, it sounds like that.
  5. Update... Car is amazing. It is a pleasure and a thrill to drive. I'm glad I chose the GT-R over the GTi Golf. Golf is also a great car for the price, but this is more my style. It's crazy! New Tyres Needed new tyres at $2900 for Perrelli P-Zero. Seem to grip well. Near Miss! Last night I gave it a little around a massive round-about at night. Roads were empty. This teen started crossing the road from the center of the round-a-bout in a dark spot. Luckily I still saw him in time and hit the brakes with just enough time. He didn't see me until the last minute though and he got the fright of his life. Looked like a deer in headlights. He reacted and kicked the side of the car as I steered around him at about 20km/h. I thought about retaliating but didn't really have anything to gain. No damage done. Rattle There are some rattles from flywheel or driveshaft or something near the front. I don't know if it's getting worse or not. I know some rattle noise is normal in these cars but I'm still not sure how much is normal.
  6. Left a message on your voicemail. Give me a call when ready. 0419 659 921 Richard
  7. GTR-035 in still available in QLD. Thinking of getting it but think I'll stick with random numbers
  8. Have R35 in Stafford Heights. Let me know when you want to try out the ipod thing.
  9. Wow. All I can say is wow. Thank you to everyone at this forum. I wouldn't have done it without you. BTW, the missus likes it. Except, I gave it 10% throttle and she goes "awwww don't go fast, it scares me". I was then thinking to myself "geez, you're lucky I didn't punch it"
  10. Thanks DAN00H. House is taken care of. It's a dive compared to the car, but it's livable :-)
  11. Only 2 hours until pickup. Ohhhhh yeah.
  12. I didn't think the Australian GT-R had launch control? By "hard launches" do you mean pushed hard at the lights etc? By the way, the car looks and runs great. He took me for a test drive and nearly shat myself.
  13. UPDATE! Going for inspection tomorrow. If it checks out, I hope it ends with an agreement!
  14. Oh man. I thought I had made up my mind. I think I need to just grow a pair of nuts and do it.
  15. lol! Funny stuff about the "Loves me and Loves me not". ha ha. So here's the update... I've been convinced to wait a little longer until money isn't even a question. Even though I can buy it with cash now, but I wouldn't have anything left for mods or track days or proper maintenance. I'm also really enjoying the anticipation of getting one. Sometimes the anticipation and "dreaming" is just as exciting for me. It's the journey, not the destination. I've only ever owned a VL and VZ commodore so I've never really had real experience with a high powered car. So I'm thinking something in between like a Golf GTI or Golf R will be safer for me and keep me going for another 12 months. What do you think?
  16. I spoke to him on the phone. I asked him the reason for selling. Says he's bored and wants to change gears. Wants a GT3. He's a used car dealer and it is his personal car. He only put 1500km on the clock. Previous owner who was a friend did the rest. Claims it's never been tracked. Oh, how I wish I had more support from the girlfriend.

  18. Martin, did you put on the aircon during the race? I would have been tempted.
  19. This happened on a track right? Somone rolled their car on to the GTR.

    Buying A R35

So, decision has been made. The ADM model is for me. JDM's just look like too much trouble tracking one down, no warranty, older series, some japanese buttons, no Australian GPS, unlikely to get color preference. If I'm spending $140k, I'd prefer to pay $40,000 extra for those things. Conclusion is... JDM = better for modifying, track car or live close to Willall Racing ADM = better for daily driver and the odd track day Now just need to see if I need to wait for this "Series 3" or the MY2010 or something like that.

    Buying A R35

You said the pricing of $108k is way off? I found it on Prestige Motorsport. http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/modul...hp?StockID=4855 The updated model is the 2010 model right? They can be ordered now. Or, is the updated model something even newer that I need to wait for?

    Buying A R35

So it now looks like buying a new ADM is best suited to me. Even though it's significantly higher priced than USA's prices. What an amazing forum. Thank you to the members. Don, do you think you'll buy one? Where are you based? Now to hunt down insurance quotes and decide on buying or use a novated leasing.

    Buying A R35

Exactly. This is what sells it for me. It's luxury and performance. And I love that it doesn't sound like your typical ricer. I like receiving attention, but not because it sounds loud. I've noticed a few discussions on this forum about the logic behind not buying an R35. The truth is, nearly all cars priced over $100k are going to be mostly an emotional decision.

    Buying A R35

I totally understand your logic. GT-R needs to be a tracked to be appreciated. This is more an emotional decision though.

    Buying A R35

Preference is Gun Metalic premium model. I'm reasonably flexible on this though. I would only track it once every 2nd year or so. Not often. Purpose is daily driver.
