  2. Whoever the buyer is, there lucky, that is a superb looking car, just neat simple and good looking. I think $23k was quite a bargain for it being a 40th ann. edition.
  3. sounds awesome for the price man, good luck with the sale.
  4. unless its had a complete new front end, its not a 96 - its a series 1.
  5. did you go to taylors lakes by any chance?
  6. Water spray is a great idea to take down there, make sure everythings cool. As for sprayin on the oil cooler - what for lol, ur pushing it hard for less than 14 seconds. I dont think there gonna be soaring.
  7. Dont worry about semi slicks at calder guys, I rekon there not necessary. I ran a 12.5 with a 1.8 second 60 ft on bald Dunlop SP8000e - granted they were 265s, but still its all comes down to the way you launch, you gotta remember the start line is grippy as f**k, big burnnout on st tyres gets em even grippier. Its not like the street at all, ive got mates who dont wanna take there cars down because they compare launchin it at the track to like launching off the lights - its not the case - trick is to keep the revs high so it gets onto boost fast, and as the lights stage on the yellow, keep ur clutch at the friction point jusssssssssssssst before it grabs, dont shit urself from a little wheelspin but if its excessive just knife the clutch slightly. Another method is handbrake, but i dont like it because it can upset traction. Done be shy thru the gears, no flatchanging, but sharp quick and precise, keep the shifts stictly to the redline, i see so many ppl shifting early. Also keeping the car cool right up to the line helps, when ur in pits getting ready for a run, engine off, bonnet up, get a couple of mate to push the car. It looks stupid but I helps so much. Just some advice for those who havent raced, I really enjoy my drag racing, ive probably had close to 50 or more runs in all my cars thru the years. Best advice though, dont distract yourself, just get out there and have fun.

  9. Went thru this process when I had my R32 RB25DET just to clear up some misconceptions, doesnt matter engine capacity, R32s even came out with Rb25DE and they said I still need a engineers. Engineers can be real picky if they want to be as well with certain things. Cops dont care if ur cars registered with it or not, you get the wrong copper and he knows its a conversion, thats it, I was a bit unlucky because the RB25 didnt look outta place in a R32, but in a R31 it certainly does. I dont really see the huge point in getting it engineered anyway, theres still EPAs and defects to worry about, thats why I sold the car. As someone mentioned, for insurance purposes as well, it can be a problem.(even if you have 3rd party). Some people choose to take the risk and run without changing anything, you most probably would get away, but theres always that chance.
  10. Im up for it, I was just getting into the calder drift practise days and now I cant, I would really like to see it continued because Its a form of motorsport that I enjoy competing in. I know a quite a few other people (who are not on the forums/internet) that have been attending calder drift days for the past year regularly and who would do almost anything to get back into drifting on it, I was having a chat to one of my close mates whos really into It and he was very very dissapointed to hear that it was to be called off, not only that there are guys who have bought/built drift cars solely to be used on the track, Id imagine theyd be pretty upset. Anyway, thats my 2c, good luck to anyone that can work something out, if I can be of help, please message me Regards Kim
  11. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,17761546-2,00.html Damn commodore drifters.
  12. seen a couple of new BF Typhoons down at calder last night, slow as running high 14s. There was a stock GTR with a catback there (r32) running 12.6 at a lowish 104 mph.
  13. is there a meaning behind this thread.
  14. As for the bloke who said a F6 would wollop a GTR on the run. Ignorant thats all im gonna say. Ive been talking to the guys at FPR and seeing the development of the Ford Turbo cars for quite a while now (I work for Wurth and yes I get to go inside FPR and FPV and have a chat to the guys inside) and what they have achieved in the last 4 years is a tremendous step in Local performance cars. They are big vehicles, aimed at going fast, while having all the luxuries and being able to sit a family and enough bootspace to match. So the GTR vs F6 is not a debate. Totally different cars with different purposes. And what do I think of XR6 turbos - Id stay clear from em for a little longer, this BF range has yet to prove reliable, My uncles had a XR6 turbo auto since 2002 as a company car and had quite a bit of trouble with it, overheating problems, transmission problems, starting problems when cold ....did I mention the auto gearbox? Go for a drive in one and listen to how clunky they are, reminds of goin in a old XD. Other than those mechanical gremlins, I reckon its a nice looking car, nice interior good layout and FAIRLY well built! I can see in the next 5-10 years it being the new VL turbo and having heaps of problems and am already starting to see the dodgy ones come out of campbellfield with custom resprays, cheap aftermarket mags and stupid number plates. The turbo shops will be rubbing there hands with glee thinking about the potential buisness.
