  1. Nah wasnt my car my car has no stickers on it and Dan has seen mine!! You know, in 8 months of owning a ceffy, I have never just "come across" one while driving on the street. Ive seen em parked, or come to a meet, or there mates, but never just spotted one and gone OMG theres a ceffy!
  2. A starion turbo was my First car, i bought it almost 6 years ago. To this date, I cant stress what a great car it was, and what a great car they are. It rarely gave me trouble and I thrashed the hell outta it, I was a year 10 student at the time so I couldnt afford anything else. Imports were few and far between and extremely expensive back then. I had it for two years!! Ive had quite a few imports, and even still, i have to rate Starions as one of my favourite. The sad thing is, 90 percent of starions left, are all neglected, bodged up and tired. In melbourne ive noticed this anyways. They have so much to offer that most cars built in the 80s hadnt heard of - and there rare. Everyone these days are going the skyline, silvia, R31, Corolla for slide cars - what about something a bit left wing! Dont be put off because you seen a hack, theres many types of the abovementioned cars that ive seen that are in similar condition. The single cam motors are strong, the turbos are good if they are looked after, good oil, a seal kit etc. In a few years I will buy a widebody Starion to Restore from the ground up, they are the Forgotten Classic Japanese sports car. It puts a smile on my face every time I see one out and Im glad that there are people out there that value the old Japanese classics.
  3. One of the toughest ceffys i have seen here in Aus!!!! With a 2530 it must haul like a train!!! What engine management are you running
  4. I reckon you are mostly to blame though. How can you beleive someone when they say they have a "BUILT" motor in it, without seeing actual reciepts. Even Still I wouldnt beleive it. I would have tested the engine as you normally do (compression, Diagnostics etc) but thats about it. So many many people Ive known over the years buy a car where the previous owner has said "its been rebuilt with forgies" only to have it blow up shortly after and when pulled down finding that its actually and old high kilometer motor. The biggest cause of this is that people think well its got a built forged motor there fore even if its running small power I can cain the living shit outta it and itll last forever. I would never buy a car based on that and actually think its bullet proof. As for the BEE R limiter - do you think the "built" motor is indestructible when youve got it belting on a set limit?
  5. My 1993 R32 Skyline Type M was the annivesary ediiton - it came with the keys, gold badges, steering wheel, and the two tone seats!
  6. My 3 Car Garage My Toy. None of this water cooled, traction controlled crap that they make now. Hard to Beat the Gruff note of a Force fed air cooled boxer. My Daily. AMG CLK DTM. Hitting the town at night, going for a cruise. Nothing like having 500 horses under your hood! My investment and track car. Screaming twin turbos. No Electronic driving aids. One of the Most Desirable Ferraris ever built.
  7. Sorry to hear about your engine. Through the years, it is very seldom that I have heard of RB25s having bearing failure due to oil starvation, but i guess theres always exceptions. Putting a sump on it I would say is unecessary but a good oil cooler and pump helps. As for the penrite stuff - I would throw it away rather than put it in my car. For years in all my cars I have run the Castrol Sythetic R (aka Formula R) and havent had a problem. I have to admit the oil comes out pretty second rate on changes after 5000 kilometers, but neverthless hasnt given me any hassles. The Motul and Redline Oils are both Extremely good, The Redline oil in particular is a must if your driving a highly stressed out engine, it is much more expensive, but if your using the car in competition, I would recommend it. Circuit driving is far more demanding that drift, in a way that you are driving the car at its limit most of the time doing several laps, where at a drift circuit you might do 1 pass and let it cool or do a handful of laps at the most. Whether it be circuit or drifting, I beleive that if you compete you should adeqately set up your vehicle, not only for it to perform the best, but to preserve the engine and drivertrain.
  8. The VR4 Legnum is a hot car. These days you wanna stand out from the crowd of usual cars - Legnums are perfect. They have a specially developed 2.5 liter and use TD04 turbochargers. Later Model Japanese ones do have the Evolution 4 gearbox and Active Yaw Control.. (these cars would have been recalled some time ago like the Evo 4s which were recalled for an AYC problem) I havent driven one, but anything mitsubishi Slaps a turbo on to, flys!!! 3000GTs for example, widely hated and despised, for fair reasons - Has anyone driven a stock 3000GT to comment? I drove a bone stock standard one (no aftermarket parts whatsover) and it went much harder than ANY standard /near standard GTR or Evo I have ever been in. There is a hot looking Red Legnum on Princes Hwy in Clayton (I think) at the dealer. They have a few Stags. IMO - stags are awesome cars - my mate alex has tinkered around with stags for a few years now, you have to put the coin in to make em half decent (ie. turbo, auto, management, cooling, suspension) otherwise they are quite slow and very very heavy. I have also driven a late model Yellow Kitted (R34) Stagea wagon and its kinda the same deal.
  9. Couldnt have put it better myself
  10. fair enough, I too think spectators should not be charged for a practise event. I doubt anything will change in the near future with drifting in Victoria.
  11. Drifting...... Its a great form of motorsport, I really enjoy It, I suppose you really have to get into it and have a car setup for it to truly enjoy it otherwise you are just fighting the car or breaking it - which is not fun. As far as popularity goes, Comparing spectator crowds to PRIVATE CLUB track racing days and drift days is stupid, far more people come to the drifting. In Victoria, drifting hasnt taken off hugely due to the lack of and distance to the racetracks. Winton is absurdly far away and calder is Pretty boring in my opinion. I often do the sums, and to go to a winton PRACTISE day costs an absolute MINIMUM of 500 dollars. And the drifting takes its toll on the vehicle, so mechanical failures and accidents are common. As for all the circuit addicts, drift is a form of motorsport which can be done with a professional setup car or a grass roots street car.I cant take my near stock car and hope for it to lap a decent time. At the same time, the big guns are laughing with there big dollar setups. Power doesnt mean everything - just look at all the cheap corollas, datsuns, s13s that perform just as well as the big dollar drift cars. I dont think the same can be said when it comes to circuit racing, where its kind of like, he who has the deepest pockets, wins. A good example is of the world D1 championships (Japan,USA,GB and Malaysia) - where you get drivers that make it in the top 3 with 1.6 liter Naturally Aspirated Corollas making 200 hp and 1000 horsepower big block Dodge Vipers and Pontiac GTOs.
