Greetings fellow skyliners.
I used to think cars were annoying pieces of metal that just sucked your funds and provided no real enjoyment. That was until a friend of mine convinced me recently to up my budget slightly and get an R32 GTS-T over some standard car (Falcon or something like that, heaven-forbid). "You only live once," I said. Now I am totally hooked and a turbo lover for life! I guess the old saying is true, nothing compares to the whoosh of a turbo and the tight feel of a small sports car.
Needless to say this was quite an improvement on my 1990 Honda civic, which despite it's red colour, did not endow itself to much speed, frivolity or head spinning attraction by onlookers. But now I finally have a area to hopelessly channel my funds in the neverending pursuit for more power and restoration.
My car was fairly stock when I purchased it, except for suspention, brakes, 17" mags, pod filter, and a few other minor mods. I got kind screwed over as I didn't think enough about the rust and a/c compressor was buggered. But, otherwise it was a good buy given the engine had less than 90k on the clock. Just the other week I got a front mount, exhaust job, eboost, and will be looking at remapping the ECU soon. Then I need to do some aesthetic stuff. I think I have convinced myself I will stop after that though (i.e. get it as fast as possible without changing turbo or engine). Heading off to Tasmania on a trip in 2 weeks with a few mates with turbo subarus and Evos. So, hopefully will give them a run for there money and not drive off Cradle Mountain into Lake St Clair in the process (look out in the News)! I can't sleep just thinking about driving my car. Maybe I just need a girlfriend. But don't tell her that.
Anyway. As you can tell, I can ramble. The main point of this post is to say hello to everyone out there and I hope find out whether there is anything in the way of Skyline 'events' in South Australia. My car is not up to standard for show judging or anything, but cruises, meets, or whatever might be of the order. I don't know anyone else with a Skyline (my SA friends suck naturally aspirated dog!). I am also hoping to quell any of the myths around Skyline drivers too by seeing what they are really like. I am a fairly tame driver. However, the boost temptation to pop up to 90 quickly in 2nd gear does yearn itself once a week or so.
