  1. Props due for that link.. Thanks. I love the track. Lots of sharp direction changing and low margin for error Plus it feels huge and has a grand setting. Any mistake costs seconds on this track and i like how it goes under overpasses etc I bet the echo around singapore city at night would give all those in the know goosebumps! Alot of mistakes in practice, should be interesting to see who holds concentration and mechanical functionality through race distance. Killer lap by Fernando, If only he was in a Ferrari! Massa better step up or step aside.
  2. Yeah Jetstar is pretty cheap, some combinations are around 400 each way. Usually some delay because it goes from cairns i think. Remember the day going there and the day coming back to australia arent included in the holiday because you'll be in the air and in airports for 12hrs + each day, EG if your going for 7 days.. Then your actually going for 5. I have to agree with everyone, your intended actions make for a great partner! Although me being me, i wouldnt really like the idea of being sprung with a holiday out of nowhere. Its probably a good idea to find out if he can take time off work etc and hasnt already got anything planned. Plus i think two minds are better than one, you will be able to plan.. brainstorm and allocate more funds and effort to enjoy Japan properly if both of you have preplanned and know exacly what you want to do. And you should know how guys are.. We want to lead and make the decisions Just for informational sake, ive estimated 6 weeks in Japan at around $32,000 total.. Although i plan on doing alot and living in luxury
  3. Ok thanks, yeah Tokyo-Kyoto will be a good road trip. Ide like to absorb the surroundings and actively learn about japan better, so ill be taking the scenic trains and doing a fair bit of driving! I plan on staying for atleast a month; something like 3 weeks in Tokyo, 2 weeks Kyoto and 1 week Osaka. Do lots of walking, shopping, eating and see all the temples/shrines/landmarks etc Ide like to check out some real samurai swords and see where they make them by hand. I think its in 'sakurai' near Kyoto Not to mention all the tuning houses.. In the process of planing it all now, just need to figure out when is the best time to go?
  4. Whilst on the subject; Is there any english or engligh speaking companies that run a limo or Chauffer service? I know it would be expensive, but i was planning on going to a bunch of different places and would like the convenience of saving time on travel. Alternatively, what are my chances of renting a car and not having any confusion driving around? Ive always thought to travel properly you need to get involved, so i thought a roadtrip from kyoto-osaka etc would be really entertaining
  5. Yeh i agree with everyone, Massa and the no win finn are non deserving of their seats and i couldnt believe how kova yeilded in such a conceeding way. Disgraceful racing, and disgraceful commentating once again by the english biased f1 commentators. Its exacly what ive been saying since last year. I cannot believe ron dennis' decision to kick out alonso, when they literally had a dream team. I mean look at how dominating mclaren where in the constuctors until they got kicked out.. That is the best sign of having 2 great drivers. And so what if your two drivers hate each other.. When aslong as one beats the other.. they are definately going to beat everyone else! I would have just put them in a padded room and said right get all your anger out! If anything having two numbers ones only pushes both drivers to the next level and makes them even better, plus no wonder major sponsors are speaking of leaving mclaren.. In terms of business advertising, Which is what f1 is pretty much all about.. Its much better to have 2 number 1 drivers so that in any given race, your team is almost a definate to win and podium. The problem now is similar to last year, they are building the car around and for lewis.. Which makes it impossible to judge someones real talent, because the best guage is against someone in the identicle car. But meh, Ron is renouned for making stupid decisions. I just pray that f1 doesnt become a 1 man race, because i cant stand lewis, but most of all, i cant stand him having no competition. F1 shouldnt be that easy, and it takes away from it when it is. Its the same stigma that surrounded schumi towards the end, F1 lost alot of fans and viewers because it just became ridiculous. Until fernando came along in a massively less funded team and created the best racing in years. He really fought under huge adversity to win his 2 world titles, which is exacly how it should be. Dont discount kimi, apparantly the team played around with his car alot on fri night to try and guess what the track would be like.. And obviously didnt refer with kimi. But its no secret that ferrari are slipping, and partially i think because kimi is such a quiet racer that he often doesnt voice his opinion strongly. Which i think needs to be done like alonso and schumi have in the past. I want the drivers to tell us how it really is, not play fiddle and pupper like lewis or say one word answers like kimi. Although you cant help but like raikkonen for his 'goto track, race, go home' attitude.. He has never liked the specticle of F1. He certainly doesnt toot his own horn or do stupid ego dances like lewis, and i think the next race will pretty much tell us the outcome of the season. If ferrari cant be at the front, its all over. If there is a god, alonso will be in a Ferrari ASAP so that someone can be passionately driven to beat lewis and make him second think everything. God i miss 2007..
  6. Yeah well said. I really think lewis' head got way too big for his maturity and ability. And to be honest im sick of the nice PR friendly drivers like hamilton who are always reciprocating what the team wants to be said. It sounds so hollow and uninformative to me, and i absolutely admire alonso for coming out and saying what he thought, because thats exacly what all the greatest drivers in formula one have done, and that is exacly what i would have done aswell. Its a big part of why nando and webber are good friends. I have to say that even with the in team issues last year, mclaren without a doubt had the strongest lineup, and i think its a massive stuffup from ron to not just get in there and make it work. Kimi and massa together is too strong for lewis and the young fin this year. All mclaren had to do was make it work, because even if each of the mclaren drivers thought of their team mate as the competition.. Aslong as one of them beat their team mate, they would beat everyone else. I dont think there is any doubt of how badly alonso was treated, you dont come into a top team being a then consecutive world champion that beat the strongest team in the game, with reputedly the best driver ever.. without expecting to be listenened to, prioritised and respected. I think its a sign of his ability that alonso managed to have the championship all the way upto the last round of pit stops in the last race of the season.. With majority of the season spent in a team that distanced and resented him. In such a competetive and agressive business like formula one, not having a strong and outspoken opinion takes away from specticle of of it all. I think people are too quick to change bandwagon, everyone changes what driver and team they like over all kinds of issues that often arent a direct result of the racing itself. Im sick of the lewis fever, F1 racing mag australia is absolutely obsessed with him and its turning off alot of long time readers like me. I want spectrum! there is 20+ other drivers in F1. Besides, if they are going to continuing filling the magazine with articles, how about one on how he made the biggest rookie mistake almost ever in F1 twice in a row in that special zone and time of the season where true champions shine, and the rest buckle under the pressure. I really believe that lewis will never win a championship, simply because of the adversity that he will face over his career. He already had, and threw away his greatest chance. And the teams all seem quite comfortable how they are at the moment, with great changes next year i think the teams will be focusing on getting settled with the new cars and rules rather than their driver lineup. Alonso will stay at renault unless bmw manage to really convince him otherwise and take heidfeld's seat. One thing you have to remember is the viewing public think we know alot about what is happening, but the truth is we are shielded and often fed fabrications for alterior motives. The drivers themselves know everything that is going on, internally in their team and externally in the other teams because they have such a fast faced and tightly concentrated community. In the same way that fernando currectly put two and two together about the future in switching to mclaren at exacly the right time, i think he also knows full well that with all the aero, reliability and tyre changes next year, a repeat of the success renault had in 05-06 may be repeatable. People like Kimi, Schumi, Senna, Alonso etc Can, and have pulled teams from nowhere to world champions. Oh and i think kimi will retire end of 2010, possibly 2009 if he wins the championship again this year.. Wonder who would be mclarens greatest threat in a ferrari, who would have the greatest desire to beat and punish mclaren.. And who ferrari is most likely to choose if mclaren become too strong in the coming years?
  7. I think F1 pushes the boundaries of human-machine relationship by demanding peak and unsustainable levels from both. In this light there will always be unfortunate accidents and split second decisions that turn out to be the wrong decision. Ive never taken a liking to MS partly for some of the choices he's made but also because i usually like the underdog and as of the last ... long time, hes dominated the 'sport'. Being team ferrari doesnt help for me either, its well known in the industry that because ferrari helped to develop and make F1 what it is, and because they are 'ferrari', that they have the FIA in their pocket. This has hurt schumi's public reputation as much as his on track antics, with a number of bs calls from the FIA favouring Ferrari in the past. Is he the best driver in F1 to date? Without question, Yes. When he wants to he can put so much passion and talent into his driving, he has an element to draw on that makes him a stronger driver than most of the F1 field. Without his tyre puncture in brazil, i have no doubt he would have atleast won the race. To go from 8th to last then finish 4th is typical MS and i was captivated by how hard he pushed at the end, even setting the fastest lap on the 2nd last lap i think it was? I think Alonso will turn mclaren around after some time with the team, they have everything there to win but keep falling short. Alonso knows how to win and i think will substantially surpass schumi's career by the time he retires. I dont believe Ferrari will be nearly as strong as they have been, they havent only lost their pinnacle driver but also ross braun, their engine specialist and a number of other key MS era people have left. Oh and please dont do a dash 'i miss the passion' return to the sport micheal...
  8. Definately, im questioning those figures
  9. Whats the site/contact for this place? Have they told you what hours, pay, age group you'll be teaching and location yet?
  10. Ive seen the vid, its kinda pointless because a plane doesnt have the same acting physics/gravity as the bike and car What would be better is to see a tarmac setup rally car, V8 Supercar, Nascar and formula 1 car battle so people could see how extensively different they all are
  11. Very true, the standard intake system is well engineered and often overlooked I think the only benefit if you would call it that is the noise you get from a pod
  12. well realistically when are people buying things with legality in mind, nearly all modified skylines are defectable, unless your running ridiculous rpm and power, i doubt you are going to see much actual power at the wheels difference between the pod brands anyway but if you want to waste the money, then go for it, tis only my input
  13. I guess thats ok aslong as its all done properly though, ive got a friend with a car there, blue 32 with the lot Can you post a list of the things done and an approx price?
  14. Whered you get the rebuild done in brisbane? I would do the traditional run in on mineral oil.. let it warm up idle.. change again and run for 500km then goto synthetic routine etc
  15. I havent read all the above but my opinion is K&N are the best option, its cheap, flows well and has good durability Its more important how the pod is fed air/enclosed then what brand it is
  16. Can never get bored of japan pics, great thread I gotta ask; How many times have you been to japan and how long did you stay for? Average spending per trip? Do you teach english there? I want to learn japanese properly and go over there for awhile and find work if my language skills are good enough
  17. Hey whered the engine come from? Km? Might grab it for an engine stand project if i cant find a good r34 gtr engine
  18. Get to reading buddy! Theres an almost endless amount of information on this forum regarding all your questions Use the search
  19. Yeah im interested too, was looking for some nismo winterwear from a reputable company/site Used to be able to get it through nengun, probably still can although its not listed anymore
  20. post up some more pics, it might help
  21. So why are you splitting the car up?
  22. How about anyone thats had a rebuild done in QLD post up their info..
  23. I posted the first 10 pages of 160 from the RB26DETT rebuild guide by nismo/tomei in my gallery.. There is a full on section in the back showing every step from when tomei receive your engine to when you get it back.. There is alot of steps and pages Will take me along time to post it all so ill do in sections Also the only mention of a tomei 2.8l is the kit, not the engine i dont think But there is pages of stuff on the Tomei derive/genesis and how to tune with reytek, how to install poncams and camgears & Nismo's S1/R1 Engines Plus a massive parts catalogue in the back with alot of stuff ive never seen on nengun/greenline or other parts places such as all the mines kits/tomei kits etc
