  1. Zahos, Shouldn't be too hard to make your own alubond -- aluminium plate + clark rubber stuff + aluminium plate = alubond I have bought aluminium plates from Capral before. Their prices are not too bad, especially the offcuts. Cheers.

Nark, hats off to your friend.
  3. Dude, have you tried Capral Aluminium? http://www.capral-aluminium.com.au/ Hope this helps.

Dudes, make room for the real nerd! ICQ: 650989
  5. Buttoned_Down_Psycho, You are right - using 6 external coils instead of the original coil packs with the factory ignition module is perfectly feasible.
  6. R31Heaven was asking if a SINGLE coil could be used instead of 6 individual coils. The answer is no as kjb_r33 said. The little black box handles low voltage only, you cannot use it on the high-tension side to perform the function of a distributor cap/rotor assembly needed for a single coil setup.
  7. Are you talking about the FM frequency converter to allow the Jap radio (76-90 MHz) to receive Aussie FM stations (88-108 MHz)? If that's the case, you can get the converter from Jaycar Electronics for $45. Other places like JB HiFi and Gary's may also have it. However, if the new tuner+CD player you're putting in is designed to pick up 88-108 MHz, then you don't need the frequency converter. You may still need the antenna plug adapter if you don't want to cut the original dual plugs off.
  8. Contact cement or 2-part epoxy. Both stick to metal well. If you want to be able to take it off easily later (just in case the cabin release cable breaks, for exmaple), then I recommend contact cement. Contact cement makes a good bond, yet it can be broken cleanly with some force.
  9. I topped mine up with Valvoline SynPower power steering fluid. Cheers.
  10. All I am saying is that silver has the highest known electrical and thermal conductivity of all metals. That is a fact. Cold hard facts do not lie. Check the figures out yourself if you don't believe me, any good chemistry book will do. Alternatively, do a search on the net. Therefore, the fact that gold is used extensively in electronics must be due to something else other than electrical conductivity, such as superior corrosion resistance and nice appearance. I rest my case. P.S. The moment you assume you know everything, you lose the plot. Nobody knows everything. Life is a long journey of continous learning and discovery. I am but a humble student.
  11. NOT true. Just some facts on copper, silver and gold: Copper: electrical resistivity 1.7E-8 Ohm.m, thermal conductivity 400 W/m/K. Silver: electrical resistivity 1.6E-8 Ohm.m, thermal conductivity 430 W/m/K. Gold: electrical resistivity 2.2E-8 Ohm.m, thermal conductivity 320 W/m/K. (All data courtesy of webelements.com) As you can see, silver has the lowest electrical resistivity, hence the highest electrical conductivity. It also has the highest thermal conductivity. On the other hand, gold is the last on the list both in terms of electrical and thermal conductivity. So, why is gold used on audio connectors? Because it LOOKS good and it doesn't oxidise as easily as silver or copper (it has the highest electron affinity amongst the three). Silver is used for internal electrical contacts such as in switches and relays, because you cannot show them off, so the best material is used rather than the prettiest.
  12. NismoGirl, it's a common alarm feature.
  13. JiMiH, If your aerial plug has two pins, you must have 2 aerials. Skyline factory headunits use a dual diversity system for radio reception. When you wire your new plug, make sure you connect to the extendable main aerial (the thicker of the 2 co-axial wires) and NOT the sub aerial in the glass. The SUB aerial in the glass is no good for FM, which is why you're getting crappy reception. If you don't have an extendable main aerial (either auto or manual), I suggest you install one to improve reception. Also, make sure all connections are nice and secure, preferably soldered. Cheers.
  14. I use Mothers plastic polish to polish my dash lens and headlights. The results are pretty good.
  15. In addition to the mechanical linkage, also check the driver side doorlock actuator itself. The actuator has an electric motor in it which may have blown, or the gears maybe stuffed.
  16. Well, I'm off my Ps for quite some time now.
  17. Devlsh dude, I'm from Preston too.

Funkeymonkey, Yeah, you got a few pics of my R33, I saw them posted here. It's the two tone silver one. Cheers.

Inark, I was the one in the two-tone silver R33, dead stock.

    Night cruise

Someone called R31 Skyline Chick I think. (Or did you actually mean the would be organiser for this proposed night cruise?...) Anyway, I look forward to the nite cruise.

    Night cruise

It was the R31 Skyline Club - obviously dominated by R31s, I know. It's just that I thought there'd be more 32s and 33s since they extended the invitation to all Skyline owners...

    Night cruise

I'm definately interested. Went to an R31 cruise on the 1st of September - too many R31s and not enough R32s and R33s.
  23. Measure the resistance of the speaker with a multimeter. For a 4 ohm speaker, the voice coil resistance should be between 3 and 4 ohms. If the resistance is infinity, ie. open circuit, then the speaker is blown. Cheers.
  24. Hi ppl, Does anyone know what controls the ignition switch illumination light in the R33 and where the controller is located? Thanks.
