Friend's Potential Damage To His Car?
istdercollen replied to La Bomba's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Most of the time the "My friend did this and that" stories are actually things that the OP did and is too embarrassed to admit. ie.-- My friend got a DUI last night after being pulled over going 250kph. What should he do next?... Kill himself. -
Modified Skyline 0-100 Times
istdercollen replied to gwilkinson34's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What RPM are you launching at? I did a 4.82 0-100 on 235 series snow tires with same HP as you. Sound like you are easing into it or bogging through the low end in first gear. -
I've been considering getting the HID R33 headlights, but they go for a pretty penny here in Japan. found some new in the box for 1600 USD. not worth it at all. that's my Tomei Oil Pump, or something else useable. Since I'm typing- updates today. Replaced starter, old one said goodbye over the weekend filming that video. That is the most pain in the ass starter I've ever had to replace, took me over 2 hours of pleading with god to get the top bolt off. Also removed the sound deadening that was cemented to the floor pans and such. On the prowl for a roll cage, interior sprucing up after that.

Man Australia really has some shitty laws. I drove my car through the inspection station here in Japan a few months ago. It was too low to drive allthe way through, so everybody behind me had to back out so I could leave, no interior except for drivers seat, 1 seatbelt and speedometer. PASS. they checked for a cat. conv, correct engine for chassis, mileage, and do the lights and horn work. I feel really bad reading all your stories of getting pulled over for such technical stuff.

for what its worth, I just used a pneumatic chisel. Its comes off pretty quick. keep it on a low setting so you don't chisel through the metal and you are done in an hour.

Wheel Sizing Problems
istdercollen replied to ...::BROD'Z::...'s topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
The offset would tell the entire story. -
thanks mate. keep an eye out, I just sent the guys a R.I.P.S. in NZ an email enquiring about an RB30DETT setup.
-
I used a 50mm lens at f/1.8. White Balance- cloudy, and small JPEG setting. I was about 5 feet away from the front of the car and just systematically went from top left corner and zig-zagged all they way to bottom right. took about 300 photos and merged them all together with CS5. 300 might be overkill, but generally the more the better for the computer to match different pieces and give you one nice photo.

Oirase Gorge Togue Cruise Video a couple of buddies and I did today.

it will get really dirty on the inside. I'd imagine on a daily driver, it wouldn't look good for long.
-
well yeah, make some very careful cuts through the seat. you can also mount the harness to a harness bar that they can slam their face on still has the backseat. lol, that's the best alternative I can come up with. I've seen some mounted through the floor, where the backseat persons feet would be, but you would have to reinforce the area first.

Cr Kais Offsets Fit My R33? Help!
istdercollen replied to icyblitz's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
+42 will look pretty weak. +24 would fit on a GTS-T and look much better -
even if you could do that, the backseat rider would have to sit with their head between your should straps. I wouldn't sit there..

alex, it happened not too long after I left from the looks of it, maybe a couple of weeks after. I bought a new toothbrush while I was gone, so that's all sorted now. I had a friend bring me some toilet paper the first day I got back, but now I have my own again, so it's starting to feel like home. The same friend with the toilet paper also had a spare 46 plasma TV that he let me borrow. It's pretty sweet because my old one was way smaller, haha. Anyway, I got the rims put on today, and I got verrrrry carried away with the pictures. the last one in this set is a stitch of 320 pictures. That's why it has the shallow depth of field that you see. instead of using a wide angle lens and just snapping the shot, i used a medium telephoto lens and took pictures of small portions of the entire image while turning of autofocus, so that only the front of the car is in sharp clarity. the actual size of the photo is 28 megapixels, so it's ripe for a billboard somewhere in the world.

no, I had the keys with me so it was going anywhere unless they decided to tow truck it out of there. yeah the car was just sitting right there. they had to walk by it to get in the door. you're damn right.. perfection is a must! haha, no I guess she is just double jointed.

I went around today to used rims stores in the area to see if they had shown up, and if so who brought them. checking pawn shops for guitars and the like. I went back to the place where I bought the Enkei wheels, and they were pretty shocked that someone broke into my house and stole them. They offered me an incredible deal since I was a returning customer and to "help me through and finish my car" on some Prodrive GC-10s in 19x10 +15 with 275/35/19 Potenza RE01Rs for 2,800USD out the door. I took the offer, but they only accept Yen cash, so it will be a few days while I withdraw money from the ATM.. here's a teaser though.
-
actually I'm just kidding. I didn't crash the car. But my house was robbed while I was gone, and they took my rims, VOLK lugnuts, Nismo sparkplugs, and things like my guitars, TV, computer, PS3, all my shoes, some of my clothes, they stole all of the food out of my cupboards, and they took all my redline oil stash (hap all redline oils for the differentials, transmission, transfer case, and engine ready to go in when I came back) a bunch of cash, silver dollars from 1885, my toilet paper. you get the idea. however, they didn't even touch the car. it was still covered and tucked away where I left it. The ray of sunshine
-
UPDATE. I crashed the car at the track this morning. Pretty much totaled at this point. I hit the front against a bail of hay and spun like a top into another car. I did have the fastest lap of the day up until that point. Pretty gutted.
-
Thanks for the compliments guys! Sorry there have been no updates recently. I am on a business trip but still parts searching. I may not be back with the car until August. At that point I should have another 10K USD that I can throw at it. Got some plans that should come together nicely. Plan is to scrub it down before the end of August at the tracks! For now though it's double covered in the garage. Should be fine unless an earthquake takes it out.

Minispool, Welded Or Lsd?
istdercollen replied to spiderclaw's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well, i come from a grip driver's point of view. I've driven one before, and it feels most like a two way diff, and my problem is central to the fact that in order to get the tires to stick with a 2 way, it requires a completely different manner of driving at higher speeds. I don't like having to mold everything I do in the car around the differential. For me a 1.5 is sufficient at this point in my life. If you are a drifter, then it's great, it makes breaking traction look like nothing at all. The downside is that, unless you are a competent welder by trade, you have to trust someone else's welding to not break. If it does let go, depending on what you are doing, you could cause a lot of damage with a uncontrollable car. Just my .02 -
Launching R32 Gt-r
istdercollen replied to xtermin8or's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I would say your case is a new clutch.. if you don't change it soon, you will be like me a few years back. I had a clutch die in an S2000 and to avoid towing costs I drove it to the shop 40kms away doing 9000 rpms in 6th gear just to go 90kmh. -

....Oh and sometime after hard driving through the mountains the 4wd light would go on.... I think the car is telling you what's up already. take it in and get it checked out. -
Minispool, Welded Or Lsd?
istdercollen replied to spiderclaw's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
it's your car in the end, but I welded diffs are crap, and I would just take it off the list of choices. -
post up a picture mate. every gts-t I've ever seen has some type of sideskirt whether factory or not. I might be completely off though.
-
So you mean that you have removed the stock sideskirts to find that there are no mounting holes whatsoever? They should be there from the factory. Anyway with the sideskirts being mounted on both ends by two screws, I don't think it would fall off anyway. The clips/double sided tape would just keep them from banging the side of the car. Take off the sideskirts on the car and see what is back there. If there are no holes along the side of your car already I will be quite confused.
