  1. My money is on the -5 terbs. Although my motor fits into the "built" category (2.8L, big lift/long duration cams etc), the -5 Garretts have absolutely transformed my power curve compared to the GT-RS units I had before. I'vs sacrificed less than 50hp top end (~530 compared to 580 rwhp), but gained massive mid range. The car has lost the sudden "kick in the pants", but feels like it's gained another litre of capacity.
  2. Thanks guys for the help. Confirm Fast gives the same part number for both manual and auto (38100-04A00), being 35/8 (4.375)
  3. In desperate need of a VIN for an auto R32 GTS4 - can someone PLEASE help??
  4. I destroyed exactly the same clutch after running the Dutton Rally last year. If yours feels like its starting to slip then almost certainly it is. Good news is that Jim Berry did a rebuild on mine and has layed down the challenge to me that I'm unlikely to "destroy" this one. Tuff words for me but so far it's copped a LOT of abuse. Total cost is less than half a new one. Give him a call and discuss the job that he did on mine (Gav from WA).
  5. Is there a difference between the auto and the manual in the R32 GTS4 diffs? I've sourced an auto GTS4 diff, but want to confirm it's 4.375 ratio. Unfortunately it's not near me and I can't just undo the back and count the CW&P teeth. Alternatively, if someone can post the VIN for an auto GTS4, I'll check myself on Nissan Fast. Thanks Gav
  6. Still looking - any leads appreciated
  7. Chasing a complete rear diff from an R32 GTS4 (4.375 cw&p).
  8. Not urgent - just was getting rid of some old pics in my gallery.
  9. ALthough I can go through the motions of deleting the pics, they still remain there. Any ideas why?
  10. Watching thread with interest
  11. I think RB26 with HKS or Tomei stroker kits match well with 272 cams
  12. It's going back almost 20 years ago, but I was in my mate's new car when he hit a dog that ran in front of his car and ripped off his front bar. We stopped and looked at the (now dead) dog's collar and got the details to do the right thing and ring the owner. When he claimed on insurance later, he gave the details of the owner and didn't lose his no claim bonus as it was deemed not his fault.
  13. Chris R (Fanta GT-R) and I were invited to the HSV Owners Track Night last Thursday. Although there were some forced smiles and the "welcome anytime" comments at the end ogf the night, there were a few snide remarks about us placing 1st and 2nd Chris pulled off a 54.7 and I managed a 55.2 on the short track, which isn't bad considering there was a bit of rain earlier in the night making the track a little "uncertain" in certain areas. The fastest Commodores were basically race prepped (stripped, caged etc) and getting around in mid 57s laps. Results All in all they were a good bunch of guys, however, and heard no rice or jap-crap comments (not directly anyway lol)
  14. I need a part number for the rear crown wheel and pinion assembly from an R32 GTS-4 (4.35 diff ratio or there abouts). Can someone either find this part number or supply me with a VIN for this model car so I can look it up? Many thanks Gav
  15. SOLD Item: HKS GT-RS turbos, genuine HKS bridged manifold, custom Earls water lines and fittings, Apexi 136mm thick drag intercooler, custom stainless intercooler to plenum pipe, Greddy polished plenum Age: All less than 5,000 km (with the exception of the manifold which was used when I bought it) Condition: Excellent Price: $3,000 plus postage To Fit: R32 GT-R Location: Perth Contact: PM Comments: See below This is one serious low mount package that can feed (and cool) enough air for 600 rwhp and a 10second pass. I spent a LONG time getting this together and developing a monster street/strip setup. The only reason that I changed is my latest fad for track and motorkhana which requires a completely different and lower power set-up. The above parts are less than 5,000 km old and are in great condition. OK - let's start with the turbo side of things..... The GT-RS terbs are well known for big power applications. These are in great condition as evident by the unworn compressor turbines as seen below: Note that these also have brand new actuators fitted. What is not so well known is that these terbs are prone to "shuffle" at part throttle. Using a bridged type manifold helps greatly in reducing this. The bridge also fouls the standard factory water coolant lines, so I had Earles lines and fittings made up as shown in the first pic above. Now - onto the intercooler. This thing really is a monster and it's a shame that Apexi have stopped making these bar and plate units. This is in basically new condition and comes complete with blow off return pipe (replaces the small factory plastic tube). I really can't say much more except this has a 600x280mm front area with a massive 136mm thickness: To ensure maximum airflow, we made up a stainless connector from the intercooler to the 100mm Greddy plenum. This includes a vent pipe to connect to the Apexi blow off return pipe: And finally the Greddy plenum. This has been highly polished and is in perfect order: I really prefer to sell this kit as a whole, and for that reason I won't split this up unless I really have to. When/if I do split this, the separate prices will total much more than $3k I can assure you (have offers already in Perth for IC and terbs). The sale price of $3,000 is excellent value and with the addition of some silicone joiners, clamps and gaskets, this is a straight bolt on affair. Prefer local pick-up but will pack and send at cost to anywhere in Oz. Contact by PM.
  16. I recommend before you spend somewhere in the region of $10-20K of aftertax dollars, you do make the time to "sit down and chat".
  17. Heya Bard I'll come along early and leave around midday to head to a family do. Can I pay on the day? Gav

    From the album: Gav's Gallery

Changes made between two graphs: Changed HKS GT-RS terbs to Garrett 2860-5 Changed HKS bridged manifolds to Tomei units Changed Apexi 136mm thick IC to HKS 100mm Changed Greddy plenum to Nismo
  19. "Safe side" (assuming you mean from the mechanical sympathy point of view) and 10s 1/4 times are contradiction in terms. With the power you have a 10s is possible only with good tyres and a very hard launch. I need to launch at ~6k to prevent bogging down, but this obviously takes it's toll on the drivetrain over time. Clutch failure is the most obvious liklihood, but gearbox failures also aren't unknown (particularly with a hard change into 3rd).
  20. Need more information than "bogging down at high rpm" to comment
  21. Good karma to you dude - many thanks
  22. Your fine will probably be the cost of three track nights at Barbagallo raceway: No Limits Car Club This is a safe environment where you get expert driver tuition included, and definately more fun than dragging an MR2 on the freeway
  23. I spent around 30 mins on Nissan Fast but couldn't locate the part number for the coilpack harness (harness with 6 coil pack plugs, 1 igniter plug and an earth lug). For an R32 GT-R. Can someone help me out?
  24. I might borrow Jamie's (XSpeed) GT-R again on the premise that I want to test drive it before I buy it :-)
  25. Your knee surgeon may be busy that day looking for new knee caps for my mechanic if my 'R isn't track ready!
