  1. Gotta admit that Ross's ceramic clutch that I've got in feels deceptively "non-heavy duty". Very nice to drive - feels stock. Hope I'm wrong, but I suspect that I'll wear the sucker out within a year. On a cost/benefit basis tho' yearly replacement is cheaper than a new twin plate every 2 years.
  2. Sorry to hear it dude. The RAC is still pissed off with me after paying out such a large claim on the S15 and the cops not managing to find the 3rd party involved. Premiums haven't gone up but have a serious excess now on the missus car. The R is insured through Shannon's. Best advice is to do what I did years ago and rebuild the driving record by insuring a cheap bunky or std car (such as ya missus car) for a few years.
  3. No wukkers didn't get a chance to pick up the ECU before the dyno tune. Can drop by this weekend when I'm out an' about. BTW - always happy to look after a mates missus (sAfrican American sAfrican American
  4. Sparc wouldn't mind dropping over to check this out - PM sent. BTW - thanks Steve and Grant for for the tuning on the PFC yesterday. Considering you both winge about tuning them you did a bloody good job!
  5. Yer Steve - don't want Grant to end up with eyes like Stevie Lee!
  6. Wouldn't mind having a look at one of these gizmos in the flesh. Anyone got one for the GTR?
  7. Checked your shocks? I has something similar in my R32 and it turned out to be a buggered shock.
  8. Thanks Franz - I guess I should haver rephrased my question! Perhaps just remove ATTESSA fuse and limit no. of power runs to avoid building up heat/pressure in front clutch pack?
  9. Steve what do you do with the R34 GTRs to put them on your 2W dyno?
  10. G'day Sydneykid Actually I like the PFC, although they aren't really that popular with tuners in Perth (Lumpy excluded). The reason that I will probably eventually go Autronic is mainly economics. I expect to take my GTR (probably fairly soon) to the stage where I will max out the AFMs. When I change over terbs I will also want an EBC as well. By the time you add 2 x Z32 AFMs and the boost control kit to the price of a 2nd hand PFC with H/C, you are getting near Autronic price. Perth's summers played havoc with my S15 that was probably tuned too near the edge. With the PFC, it's not a simple matter of reverting to a more "conservative" hot weather map unless you go back to the default map, thereby losing your custom map created on the dyno. I don't have the option of using a Datalogit as this is not (yet) available for the PFC Pro that I have.
  11. Yep - nice fella. Ended up on a late night "impromptu" cruise with him and a couple of other skylines. Should have seen the look on the Servo operators face when at 1am - 3 black nissans pull into Cannington BP ! R34 GTR R32 GTR (me), R32 GTS
  12. I doubt Nissan will bring a + $100,000 car into Australia. Nissan Australia lost heaps on the 100 R32 GTRs that it brought in. Mind you $110,000 in 1990/91 was a hell of a lot of dosh! Let's face it Australia doesn't have the population (or maturity, history - insert appropriate noun) to accept high priced and high tech Japanese cars. Honda's NSX is the exception but even this one sells less than a dozen per year Australia wide.
  13. If you are trying to decide which one to buy, don't make the mistake of equating driving enjoyment to kW. There was a massive thread a while back on R32 GTR vs R34 GTT including power outputs (both std and modified). Do a search.
  14. There is nothing magical about the 60 level of the knock sensor except that the PFC flashes the engine warning light if this limit is reached. From experience I found that at levels of over around 60 detonation was audible via stethoscope (when on the dyno) and over around 100 the detonation was audible from within the cabin (obviously very bad). Personally I liked to keep the knock sensor levels below 30. On hot days the knock would often increase at certain load/rpm points. I would then isolate those points and advance the ignition (ie move closer to TDC) and/or richen the fuel map around those points. Takes a bit of trial end error and best done with someone else driving! Also helps to have a predrawn 20x20 grid on a clipboard.
  15. This one is probably best answered by the Apexi dealers - however based on my experience: The PFC boost control kit uses the same boost solenoid as the AVC-R. The latter has some sexier capabilities such as gear based learning, scramble mode etc as well as having the ricey blue screen. On my old S15, I had a PFC and an AVC-R. These worked independently ('tho in theory I guess you could run a parallel lead to the PFC to show boost on the H/C). For my current car - I picked up a cheap PFC and will probably use the boost control kit as I'm not particularly worried about the "Blue Screen" look and prefer functionality over looks. In the longer term I suspect an Autronic unit will find its way behind the kick pannel. There is no need for an S-AFC with the PFC as there is no additional functionality offered by the S-AFC. Likewise with the S-ITC (ignition controller). It would look pretty ricey, however, having 3 blue screens mounted one above the other!
  16. Joe ya welcome to ride shot gun in the R on the next cruise - hope to have the PFC tuned by then. You just supply the tunes. Cheers Gav
  17. Whilst on the 540s - I find it bazar that Bridgestone dealers (in WA) aren't allowed to sell Bridgestone 540s! Something to do with another company getting the rights to sell these (Ian Diffen I think?).
  18. Buy a half cut manual R32 - will have all the bits you need, you can see how it all fits together, may score other bits and pieces that you need and can sell the left over bits to offset a lot of the original cost.
  19. I think the problem is that I have a PFC Pro.
  20. Remember this is peak time for cops. Don't wanna do a "Riaz"
  21. Should have explained why the shorter plug. When I wrote off my S15, I couldn't get access to the plug - therefore had to cut the cord. No damage what so ever to the HC, and I have tested it with the new plug on. Also easy to make up extension cord if needed using data cable and mini DIN 6 plugs available from Jaycar for a couple of bucks. Only reason I'm selling is that it isn't compatible with the very old PFC that I have in my GTR.
  22. I'll be there. Dropped in some new Billys/Kings today and keen to try 'em out!
