Ain't gonna blow the clutch runnin' on 5! Yep - did try the "pressurised cob web removal" method yesterday. Heard some audible detonation (not good) so adjusted the CAS back to 20 BTDC. Also put in some new plugs as #3 was buggered. Will try subsitituting coils this arvo.

Oh no - the R is running on 5 cylinders only! Can someone loan me a coil pack to diagnose if it is in fact a coil pack? I'm getting fouling on the infamous #3 plug, but only after 5 mins or so of driving. Cheers Gav

Will need to upgrade the suspension on the R in the near future. Probably won't use coilovers unless I can snaffle some quality used units that don't result in you pissing blood after an hour or two of country driving. Anyway - the two most popular options seem to be: * Kings springs/Koni shocks * Whiteline kit (Whiteline springs/Bilstein shocks) Not sure if I got the shock brands around the right way. What are people's experiences and preferences?

I'd like some feedback on the value of changing out the ceramic turbines for steel wheels. Is it woth doing this to run higher boost, or will the turbos be outside their efficient range of operation? Change compressor wheel size at the same time? Obviously best to replace with aftermarket turbos, however don't have the readies to afford this ATM.

The old scheme issued plates that didn't differentiate between the "approved" models of the R32 2 door. Therefore the 3 variants all consumed the same R32 2 door plates. AFAIK they are all gone now - or hellishly expensive if you want one of the "reserved" ones.

Mark good ones are around and do come up from time to time in your price bracket. You know plenty of people that can drive/check them out for you to see what condition it's in! Actually - they don't get snapped up that quickly as "Mr Average" has no understanding of what they are worth/capable of and may have a problem of spending on the order of $30k for a 10 year (or older) car. BTW - if you have been patient thus far - why don't you talk to Craig (J-Spec) or Geoff Risbey and have them start looking for a straight '89 model in Japan? They can most likely arrange for storage and then import under the 15 year rule early next year. Gonna save a sh1t load of money on compliance and if you get in now you will not have the competition of other Aussie buyers at the auctions. Cheers Gav

Bugger - new boss kit fitted but still light comes on and the odd unexpected steering input. Old "dog chewed" steering wheel is going back on for comparo. testing this weekend. Re: the Mines computer - well it was an unexpected find that I came across when fitting a new stereo. I know for sure that it has removed speed cut, probably boost cut and rev limit increased also. The fuel map is probably altered as it runs pretty rich (puff on black smoke on full throttle - flames from zaust on quick throttle off!). Have a PFC on the way over from Japan and will compare before dyno readings before and after.

Gotcha you summa bitch! The HKB boss kit has a plastic ring that locks into the lug on the HICAS steering wheel poistioning sensor. Problem is that this ring is only glued onto the alloy boss! This glue failed and the plastic ring spins on the boss rather than moving the lug. This is fairly hard to diagnose and requires removing the boss and seeing if the ring can spin. Not what you would expect for an fairly expensive boss kit!

BTW - sorted out the problem with the steering wheel boss - they left out the plastic ring that locks into the HICAS sensor! Will swap over the kit and hopefully won't be changing lanes on the freeway "at random"

Sorry for the late reply - been away from the office. Yer - bloody close call. About $700 worth of damage to the rear lower panel with me stripping bumper, lights, support etc. Me stupid fault - having probs with the HICAS (aftermarket boss kit) so tried disconnecting HICAS computer. With no power steering and rear end wobbling, didn't catch it in time. Only pride dented - actually expected to wear a lot more sh1t from egroups! - Guess I'm not alone in spinning off (although to do it on a sighter lap must be a record!) Anyway - apart from an expensive lesson I've fallen in love over again. In fact I think I will name my next daughter ATTESSA!! Damn I love the feeling when the torque split gauge rips over to 50% after coming out of the corner hard! Definately need some suspension mods 'tho.
