russstuff replied to streetboyz's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
can you post pics please? i have a shitty phone so cant see them.. would you be willing to post to sydney? -
Hey hows it going? just wondering if you found the cause of your problem? just asking cause i had a similar problem with my r33. i bought it with a big end knock, and sent it for repairs plus while they were at it i had them overhaul the gearbox. i had the nismo twin plate copper mix clutch. before sending it away i had a similar issue with the revs dropping if i left it in gear at the lights for around 10 seconds. after getting the car back it occasionally felt funny going into gear, sometimes, on a flat road if you didnt have your foot on the brake and you put the car into gear it would roll the car forward and quick gear changes were not an option. i bled the system several times, replaced the gearbox oil, replaced the slave cylinder and replaced the master cylinder but nothing fixed it. hope you got it sorted before the xmas new year break!

i know these pics came from the add from which i bought the car, but since buying it in October all it has done is go from one workshop to another........ oh and for what ever reason he kept the plates thats why my dyno sheet has the wrong rego, but as for its date.... wtf? MY RANT its getting built again.. but this is how its going... Started at Croyden Race development, what a bunch of useless twats!!!!!! not to mention ripoffs!!!! they had the car for 6 months and all i had to show for that time was the bottom end.. i was taking my car back from them (i'm working overseas at the moment) and they have lost god knows how much of my stuff!!!!! nothing good to say about them! getting my car built at Atomic while i'm away and Brad is ACE!!!!!!+++ will recommend him to everyone! croyden made it 6 months of hell while i was there but Brad @ Atomic is making it so easy and i'm not there!

what a good idea! i only just started to read about this cryo thing and wish i had done it to my engine before i got it built. how much did it cost to do your box? what sort of power do you think it'll be able to handle? does it make the metal brittle at all? looks like i may have to do alot more reading up on this! thanks alot for the suggestion!! Hello. yeah as the title states i'm looking to buy a strong gearbox for a series 1 r33 gtst. (dont know if it matters but i have a push type clutch) i'm looking for one that has got upgraded internals or a getrag 6 spd. but if i have to just throw in a standard one just to get rolling, well so be it. just had some bad luck with builders and have been doing a build for 9 months now. the guy doing the build now (a top bloke) has just informed me that the box i have now is shot and something needs to be done (engine is ready to put in now). but due to this such poor work being before him this build has cost alot more than expected!! and shelling out for an off the shelf new gearbox is not an option at the moment and asking him to wait another month (monthly pay) while i save up doesn't seem fair. oh and i'm located in Sydney + willing to post Thanks for reading Russ

So Who Has A Rebuilt Motor That Didn't Last?
russstuff replied to Rolls's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The place where i'm getting my engine built now will give warranty, i just dont know how much for me as i'm a bit of a 1 off i think... they mostly build the Ford XR6T motors. i am lucky they accepted my job as they are very good to deal with!! i think it helped that my mate had just had his XR6 ute built there and he's putting out 422rwkw.. that in its self is good, but he was also given a 2 year unlimited warranty as far as i know (within reason i bet). but they told him to boost it to whatever he wanted, they dont care if drags it or tracks it! oh and did i mention this place is super friendly and easy to deal with!!!! he even came out on a weekend to help with getting the tow and bits and pieces from my olds (where i dumped it) as i'm overseas working for the next couple of months. after pulling my car out of CRD for alot of reasons (in the morning before i left!) its good to have someone you can trust! i cant wait to come home and have a blast when she's done!! -
So Who Has A Rebuilt Motor That Didn't Last?

Mine lasted less than 1000k. when bought the car it had a very slight big end noise so i sent it to be repaired. the workshop didnt give me any warranty so its cost me loads now.. (still getting built) also on that note, i got the same place to overhaul the gearbox at the same time. while its getting built at the moment i asked the builder to check it out again, turns out the thing is so bad were not sure its worth putting back together again... at least the shop its at now give warranty... an expensive lesson. i just never thought to ask about it i just assumed that if it poo'd itself so quickly it'd be covered.... -
Rb30 Hybrid Upgrade, All Dyno Results
russstuff replied to R31Nismoid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
this is how i bought it and it shat its self not too long after this.... but everything happens for a reason .. right..... R33 gtst series1 RB30/25 Tomei & Hks cams Link ecu FMIC HKS pod filter stock exhaust manifild 3.5'' mandrel bend exhaust with high flow'd cat =) (screamer pipe, love it) T04B with a .8 rear housing splitfire coils sard pro fuel pressure reg Nismo 740cc injectors, unknown brand but very noisy fuel pump (read as big enough) HKS adjustable cam gears (still set at 0' lazy bloody tuners!!!) Balanced & Collard crank Jun oil pump stock pistons which were 7.1-1 and stock rods Greddy style inlet manifold bla bla bla, the list gets boring after this.. but she made the best part of 350rwkw at this point. when its finished getting built i'll post again with the new... but it should be alot better than what it was!! -
man that sux!! i have had a car written off before (it was a shitter) and instead of going to a wrecking yard i told them to tow it to my place so i could take what shouldn't have been on it, off. the assessor came and told me it was a write off and out of the money i was getting paid out i bought the car back from the insurance company bought another of the same car and used the written off one as spares. good luck with it..
-
big ends for sure!! if its a new noise and hasn't got any worse than what you hear in the video then there may be a chance you can get the motor pulled out and only get the crank removed & machined + a new set of bearings. probably be alot cheaper. make sure they are a good shop that checks bearing crush cause you dont want to go back twice. good luck
