From memory, fully synthetic > semi synthetic, and 10-40 sounds about right. chat to the boys at SCA... the guys near me are all tafe-trained in some area of cars
-
My RB20DET ran 7psi stock, but it was pushed to 12... any higher and shit would break. It's more expensive if you mistreat her. Take care of your car, and you won't be spending heaps on maintenance. Here's something to make your thoughts even harder: 4 door GTR... go fourth and ponder.
-
Importers aren't too cheap. Better to buy domestic from a private seller around Aus. I got mine through a shonky dealer which was okay because he got it from police auctions or some shit i reckon.. Have had to fix a lot with my car. Edit: sorry, I should say "importers aren't always the cheapest".

No worries mate There's no real "n/a is for this, +t is for that", it's just that Nissan created the N/A as the base model you bought for cheap, and the +t as a semi sports model. Because they share the same suspension setup, handling is almost identical. Because the N/A hasn't got much power, it's lacking heaps in the performance department, but makes up for it a bit in the handling department. You'll have way more fun in a turbo, but you can get your kicks in an N/A with corners and things. I've got my N/A atm... I'll be swapping the engine out with an RB25DET and tuning it for 290rwkw. New gearbox as well. I was going to go crazy with her, but I've gotten to the point where I'd prefer a car that performs well, instead of a car that puts out heaps of power.

My R32 GTST had 225,000KM+ on the clock, solid as a mofo, bog stock @ 154rwkw on 12psi. Thing was an amazing car (for a p-plater). My R33 GTS is a bloody slug. The best thing you can do with your N/As is to make them perform better, not get more power. Performing better isn't modifying anything to get more power out of it, it's maintaining what you already have to allow the engine to run better. 1. Change your spark plugs, make sure to gap the new ones to 0.8mm 2. Get new coils if you have to 3. Go for a drive in a dry day, drive until warm, drive home. Pop your head under the bonnet, under the car, etc. look for moisture patches. If you can take photos, do it and post it up. 4. Give the car a good, full service. Put an oil flush through and run two lots of oil through it. Take out the radiator and wash it out with a hose. Change the P/S fluid, bleed the brakes, put a K&N panel in (pod filters are horrible.. just don't do it), make sure you haven't got any cracked hoses or anything. 5. Go over your entire car and clean it out. Make a list of broken interior / exterior items, or even just things you want to change, save up money and change them. 6. You may need a new exhaust, make sure you get the catback + a new, hiflow cat. 7. Check your clutch + rear diff. Change if neccersary. That's the best checklist to getting your N/A going better. N/A's aren't for power... They're more for handling if anything. Are you on your P-Plates? If you are, invest some money ina 5stud conversion, coil-overs, sway bars, strut braces, get a cool bit of camber going. I'll let you know what this new mechanic says today, too.. we're going for a "test drive" to "see what's happening with my diff" and he should report back with some engine problems as well... if he's any good.

To then to a black gts, then to my white r33. Anyways... I swear I replied to this topic telling all the h8rs to STFU.. but hey.

I had that thought, but my mate said he had water coming up under his feet after he did. edit: and I'd also like to kind of warp them so the wheels won' tbe hitting, but police won't notice them missing... might get my hands on a jack and see what I can do with a hair dryer and mallet.

Backyard and a convo with a young lad from SCA will do the trick mate

P-Plater's Learner Car - 33 Gts
SKITTLES replied to SKITTLES's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
The falcons go sideways alright.. my gfs cousin had one with a locked diff and it went sideways on command. Problem with my liner is it's only peg-legging atm, so when I try to drift in the dry the bastard kinda squats and you can hear the power going to the diff, and stopping at the diff (thats what it sounds like anyway). that's the next thing to hit on my list (right after I fix up the sub in the rear, and get the new fusion speakers in... oh and save the 2k i need for a frekaing diff -.-) And trust me, you don't want an import car on your Ps. Crap fuel consumption, combined with no power and bad rep from cops... no real point until you're on your fulls. In a way, I wish I sold my old pristine N/A R33, kept my African American (black r32 gtst) and just played with that... ahh well. Good luck with your fulls... You must be feeling so anxious now it's so close Gonna try photodump when I have the time Got some cool shots. -
Yah that's what I usually try do, but more often than not i have to stretch my petrol out for long periods, then switch cars because i've run out of fuel in the other haha. Smart about the coffee... if I didn't already have a favorite barista i'd totally do that haha. +1 Been driving the excel around weekdays, skyline weekends. And I've switched short trips to the excel. Saved a bit of cash I'm so jealous... I'm afraid I'd be kicked out of the house if i came home with a bike.... still not to say I won't save for one when I get the new job. What sort of fuel economy comes with a bike? Sexcels represent!!! Wish I was getting your milage.. i'm hitting 400. Might have to tune the old girl up... i gave her a good beating before i got my skyline LOL Ohh i totally agree with the water thing. I was at Dans today, saw that water was $2.98 for a litre bottle... same bottle is worth around 73c at woolies hahaha but even 73c is a rip off for a litre... so I've been mooching off the work never fail, and the tap (Y) Back to the 90s for me. was going to argue this point.. but you're kinda right. You can still get some cheap stuff out there though... some cheap, good quality stuff. ;] haha my gtst used to get 250ish / tank... That car was a money pit just in fuel. But that 250km would span out over roughly the same as your S15 because I only drove her at midnight around back streets, away from places cops liked to hide (p-plater in a turbo etc). Found my way around backstreets heaps quick after driving that car. Oh ffs worst argument in the book. Go back to a year 3 class where people actually care. Australia is hardly the place it was when the convicts were here. Yeah my theories been similar recently.. f**king off my current job for a higher paying one that won't require the use of my car so I can have that money there for saving for a house, as well as be able to drive my car to cruises and not feel bad about the petrol consumption.

Woah I have a lot to reply to >< It isn't as expensive as it could be, but it's still not desirable for consumers who use a good deal of it. And not everyone get's a 'sports car' for wank factor, some of us adore our cars and dedicate a large chunk of our lives to it. On top of paying my own bills, repair costs, new parts, my gf, my loan from my family and all the other b/s, the $80 slap I got today just isn't the way to top my week. I realize it's probably sounding pathetic though.. but oh well. I went through a period like this, I just filled up and never payed attention to the bowser. I still don't want a receipt, I just give the man my card and look away haha. I'll be in a similar situation to you, too... I'll be working in the city in a month so no commuting in my cars Gonna save so much on fuel.

Is anyone else worried about the ridiculously high petrol prices? Apparently v-power near woodcroft is going to go up to $1.70/L, and my shell near me is flogging theirs off for roughly $1.65. I picked up BP Ultimate last tank for roughly $1.59 (I think) on Abbot Rd. Put it this way, when I first bought my Skyline a year and a half ago, I was paying $70 for a full tank. Now I'm paying $79+ for my petrol, and because I've moved to a different skyline that's been abused, I'm pulling 350km/tank for that $80, meaning I'm filling up every three/four days. And that's weak! I know someone who was going through $200 / week in petrol. Compared to the year 2000, I'm pretty sure petrol was around 80c? $44 to fill my liner? Now I have a freeby car my mother gave me; a Hyundai Excel she bought brand new in 2000. When I got it two years ago, I was driving this car around on a $40/week budget... driving 35-40KM a day if I didn't go out cruising with friends, or didn't drive to peoples places. Now, I couldn't fuel this car on a $40/week budget if I drove even more like a grandma. My fear is that the increase in petrol prices are going to have a detrimental effect on the tuner scene, causing many of the younger, aspiring car enthusiasts to opt for lightweight, petrol-saving kei-style cars. Consequently, I can see small hatches like my Hyundai, or like the Mazda 3 (which is already popular) becoming a growing sight in Sydney. Now, I'm all for the introduction of a new scene where the cars are easy on petrol, but some of these cars are ugly and crap to modify. I'll end my rant there, but I want to hear everyones opinions. Please don't turn the debate political, I could give two shits about gillard or her carbon tax.

Starting Point She looks heaps clean there, but she has been so abused it's not funny. There was a massive amount of camber in the front right, and we've managed to reduce it to around -4.6. Unfortunately, the left looks like it's on a massive angle too, i think. I don't look at the car heaps, she kind of sits at home >< Anyways.. New Suspension First things first; go lower, go harder. I thought it was running compressed stock springs because everything was squeaky and felt like shit. The body roll was a bit of a problem as well as it was causing a little bit of understeer. Turns out it had king springs, so it was *too* bad... btu still, out with the old, in with the new. Pedders Extreme A coil-over suspension went straight on, and I was scraping out of blacktown pedders in no time. Here's a picture of me tucking 17" rims. It only rubbed when i hit the brakes going down a steep hill and i turned at the same time... so really it never rubbed. LIfe was good. Brakes The brakes were next on my list because the disks were warped and the thing stopped like shit. I was going to fork out $1400 for slotted rotors all round and better pads from Pedders, but luckily they didn't have any in stock. That saved me heaps. Because of this, I ran over to Skyline Spares and collected myself all the gear for a 5 stud conversion, giving my GTST brakes (upgraded to four pistons at the front, bigger rotors, bigger calipers). I decided to do this myself because, like the topic title says, I wanted to learn more about the car. I haven't got much photos, but after three weeks, lots of swearing, lots of head banging, and two split-pin screw things later... I FINALLY got it done. Because it went so over time, I had to take it to a mechanic to get him to bleed the brakes, because I jsut don't get time to do it with work and such, and I needed the car within a couple days after completing. The brakes need a rebleed, i'll be doing that soon. I'll get a mate to help me in exchange for helping change his rotors Here's the finished product, with the BBS rims I bought from Skyline Spares. Why the stockies on the rear? Like a true p-plater, I decided to go take this thing out sliding... Turns out the rear diff is f**ked and it's doing onesies... meaning drifting can only be done in the wet... Sigh. Oh, and yes, i did this off public roads. You can also see from the above pic how tucked the front wheels are.. it's not too much but because the tyres are a lot thicker than my last pair, they're scrubbing a whole lot. I'm going to roll the guards up when I get a chance.. just need to borrow my mates jack again... And it's not pack up time at work.. So I'll update the thread tomorrow when I'm back at work

Contributing. Going to rip off blags style but wihtout the four door foggies

Want an N/A? LOL
-
Hey guys, So I've got some fully sick rubbage happening. I want to keep my lowness and my tyres, but need to get them to fit properly. I can roll the guards no worries, but they're scrubbing on the inside. Any ideas? Can I use a hair dryer and morph the black walls?

DON'T LISTEN TO THEM If you like the look of suicide doors on a GTR, then do it. I, for one, think it'd be interesting to see done. And remember; Your car. Your style. Your choice.

Shocking Fuel Economy. What Sensors To Replace
SKITTLES replied to reeceo21's topic in General Maintenance
250k? I wish I got that much in my gtst. I used to get 200 if I was lucky. Then again, I don't drive like a grandma. -
For R33 Gtr Wheels Recomended
SKITTLES replied to The Real GTR's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
My mate has 20's on his 33 gts4, roughly 9" wide if I remember right. Chat to the guys who are putting the wheels on the car, see if they want to put 19s of 18s on, report back with detailed description as to why. -
I really can't comment from proper knowledge, but when I was over there, there weren't many fatties, and people didn't really seem bothered by physical appearance. Some of the younger people dressed up, that's about it. But that said, there will be people over there who need a PT for sure. Actually now that I think about it... I never saw a gym whilst in Japan. Not like Fitness First or Anytime, at least.

Im voting for the customization of the fabrics, not for the colors. I don't like a solid color, so I don't feel that either would be something i'm willing to do. If it's something you want to do, all g, I can appreciate what you're doing but the solid color is lost on me. Thought about looking at patterns with a non-fluffy fabric? Comfort wise, could be a good idea. Also, the color largely depends on what your ideas are for the rest of your car.

I for one support the different colors... I wouldn't mind doing it myself. \m/ rock on

White Headlights R32 Gtr Where To Find Cheap But Good?
SKITTLES replied to GTRAAH's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
.. They're just H10s, aren't they? If you're talking HIDs, you'll have to cut the back of the covers. If you get normal bulbs, you just have to plug them in, no retro fitting. And T10, AKA "Wedge" light will work for your parkers IIRC. -
Your N/A 300 just beat my old R32 GTST's time.
