The key number is in a little metal tag on the keyring that most people don't have. I don't think it's anywhere else- maybe on the barrell?
-
From memory they are just over $200 new from Nissan. Not too bad considering what some people charge! Admittedly twice the price of my Falcoon key but then my Stagie is twice as nice as that car... Nissan can get it cut for no extra fee if you have your key number (that's what I was told anyway). Programming can be done by the dealer or try it yourself: key programming

M35 Single Din Ac Control Board
andynogo replied to andynogo's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Aww man, I'm gunna regret this, there could have been a cheap set of sw controls up for grabs! metra control unit Obviously your stereo must have the steering wheel control function for this to work. Usually a 3.5mm socket on the back of the unit with 'remote' marked next to it. -
M35 Single Din Ac Control Board
andynogo replied to andynogo's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
You need the ac controller, a new facia unless you can very neatly cut the existing one and use the surround that comes with a new 2 din stereo to cover the edges. You can reuse the existing metalwork to hang the new stereo. Oh, and fitting a single din stereo with factory guages would be too hard- you could use aftermarket guages. The factory guages need the wiring harness, sender units etc or whatever- I haven't looked into it but suspect they are well integrated and difficult to add in. Then comes the part where you either keep the existing bose amp and speakers or replace them altogether. For this, you need a converter box which converts the audio out signals of the new stereo to bose specs, or you replace the bose amps with decent ones, possibly the speakers as well as they are 2 ohm instead of the usual 4(?) etc. It is all a pain but then if your stereo is totally knackered like mine is- with power board issues and junked cd player- then it's the only options open to you. You can even use another converter box to hook up the steering wheel controls to an aftermarket stereo. Alot of the information is on the g35 forums stateside- their cars are very close to ours, with a few wiring differences. Chris Rogers can do all this work for you, if of course you're in Brissie. Us poor rellies in the wild west have to do it ourselves. I could try a local stereo installer but I don't want to. I see it as a challenge. As far as cost- well.. ac control board $150 plus postage from states (dealership now has them on special down from 180) so say up to $190 facia $?? diy modified $0 or buy the Metra kit but quality is poorer than Nissan OEM low level line converter $90 steering controls $75 plus post steering control converter $80 2 din stereo $250-$1500 depending on taste and flashness So cheapest would be around $700. If I'm successful I'll post up a story. If not, I'll burn the damn thing! -
I'm about to order a single din ac control board from the states. This is what you need if you're getting rid of your pos bose integrated stereo (or the non bose integrated). You need this board because the ac controls are all part of the clarion (bose) circuit board and when you remove the stereo you remove the ac controls. The boards are the same part as in the single din models and retails for around $480 here. That's what Northside Nissan quoted, but I've been in touch with a Nissan/Infiniti dealership in the states and they will send them to me for about $200 (give or take a few bucks). If anyone wants to order one, let me know and you can either deal direct with them or get it shipped with my board and I'll send it on. Whatever. Just wanted to spread the love. This is what it looks like. I'll be ordering in the next few days. I'm also going to find out what they charge for steering wheel audio controls as these can be rejigged with a special adaptor to work on most stereos with that capability. ..

Just a quick update: jpnz haven't finished translating the manual yet but it will be ready in "the near future" whatever that means!

Sorry, should have clarified more. The speed signal goes to many places in the g35, one of which is the top a/c display in the middle of the dash. This is the easiest place to get at it if it doesn't appear to be working at the brown plug under the steering wheel (like mine). I really need to chuck a scope on the thing to see if the signal is there or not but am scope-less at the moment. The g35 manual describes a white/green wire at the a/c display and on our cars it's not at that pin. There is a white/green wire there but I'm not willing to take the risk until I've checked it properly. Going back to the original question of the post- has the m35 manual actually been translated by jpnz? I'm sure I saw it for sale somewhere but on the jpnz site it isn't. Edit: Found it m35 manual

Yes I have the japanese manual for the m35 and the english manuals for the g35... but wiring colours and plugs are different between the two. I've been chasing the speed sensor wire for a while and in the G35 it's white with a green tracer at certain points- for example at pin 17 in the top dash display unit. We don't have a wire going to pin 17 on our cars.... The only way to go is an english conversion of the m35 manuals, but I don't really want to fork out the money if it's not detailed- the AV section alone of the jap manual is large with all the diagnostics, which would be handy.

Glad to hear you and your daughter are ok! Sorry but the car looks cactus I'm afraid (used to be in the game). Put your stock bits back on and give it to the insurance company! Genrally speaking the insurance companies will write the car off when the repair bill exceeds 50% of the value of the car (it's a bit more complicated but that's a good guide) and I can see about $7-10K repairs there....
-
Does anyone know if the translated manual has details like all the wiring diagrams, wire colours, plugs etc? Thinking of having a play with the stereo side of things in my car....
-
Umm the plug is perfectly symmetrical so not sure if they mean third from the left from the rear of the plug or the front of the plug. (with the clip up)
-
The throttle control works but the cruise doesn't. Don't have time to look into it any further at the moment so will try to firm up which of the pins is the speed signal- the diagram shows pin 3 of 4- but doesn't say if looking from behind or infront. Sigh
-
I think the cruise version (AC) is the up-spec. It's only really a throttle sensitivity controller with the added bonus of cruise function in this variant. I saw it whilst browsing and bought it on a whim. If it works as cruise above 110 then the wife'll be happy and I don't imaging we'll use it as a throttle controller.

M35 Cruise Control Not Working :(
andynogo replied to choadburger's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Orange light means a fault. Does the distance sensor symbol in the rhs lcd screen on the dash flash? Mine did that and it ended up being dirty panels in the grille and front of the radar sensor (behind the nissan nadge at the front). Otherwise it'll need to be put on the consult and then once you've been told it's unfixable, fit aftermarket.... BTW, if there's no other symbols in the lcd then maybe the radar sensor is kaput (or missing). It sits at the front of the car behind the grille. Nissan want about $1800 for a new one...you may be able to get a better price if you know them but don't expect much change out of $12-1500. Best to find another stagie with cruise and swap the sensor and see if it fixes it. Then have a chat to Chris Rogers- he may have spares which are more affordable (or fit aftermarket cruise which although not radar, uses the factory buttons, does more than 110km/h and he also can put stereo buttons on the steering wheel as well) -
Jeez you guys are awesome. My workmate showed the instructions to his Japanese wife last night and it's "brown plug taped on the car harness" in "back left hand side of the steering". Spot on. Looks like I'll be busy later on tonight when I get home- I'll let you know how it all works. Thanks again. Oh, and I looked up my IM account and the unit cost $321.63 delievered. I think it was 18001 jpy which is a pretty good price for the harness as well...

M35 Cruise Control Not Working :(
andynogo replied to choadburger's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Umm, just to clarify, you turn it on then flip the top switch downwards towards "set" and nothing happens? Is there a beep or any orange cruise lights? Does anything come up on the rhs lcd on the dash- it should show the distance bars at least. -
bout $330 from IM with the stagea specific wiring loom. Took a massive 4 days to get here as well! Quicker than posting a standard letter within Perth!

For the factory system: Don't forget that any cameras or inputs you add on need to be in NTSC as our factory screens only support ntsc. Obviously if you have an aftermarket screen then it's whatever that screen is designed for. -
Here's a scan of parts of the japanese wiring instructions and also the engrish manual. The plug I am looking for is N-d on the first page of the pivot 3 drive ac pdf. The middle page shows the location for plugs in the car's cabin and the chart on the last page gives you an idea where the brake plug and speed sensor wires are. If anyone can point me in the right direction it'd be most appreciated! pivot 3 drive ac.pdf stagea cruise manual.pdf

There is a four pin plug under the steering column on the left side or in the left front footwell kick panel area. This is what a workmate's rudimentary Japanese has told us so far.... and it's not the yellow/blue wire- that's for the brake signal. As soon as I know more, I'll post it up.
-
I have a throttle pedal adjustment box which also does basic cruise control and was wondering if anyone knows where to find the speed signal wire in a M35. It may be a yellow/blue wire on a four pin plug....somewhere.... I am trying to get the japanese instructions translated but was wondering if anyone knows. The device is a Pivot 3 drive AC in case anyone was wondering.
