  1. Yes indeed. I was going to make a crack about needing hdmi input until I saw that the next comment was any other connection gave poor quality with noise.... Yes, I miss maaaaaaaaaate, 11 and one of the 9 channels- go or gem, whichever is HD. Simpsons, futurama and Knight Rider- does it get any better? Oh and Leon- what did yo send me? Must be confusing me with someone else My 3 drive ac arrived today...without Stagea specific instructions....
  2. That's just typical. Installed my Asuka a couple of months ago and now this one comes along with HD- the Asuka is only SD. Hmm.... might have to get one.... Great looking tuner and good price too Leon!
  3. I think I updated another topic- fixed the problem. Was either a dirty set of lenses for the sensor and/r dirty wiring contacts. Took it all out and apart, cleaned it all, marvelled at all the electronics inside the sensor box, put it back together and it's been working flawlessly. Up to 110! I wish someone would hurry up and crack the computer programming so they can take out all the speed limiters!
  4. Silver ARX. Bog stock standard, you might need binos to see me up in the clouds!
  5. Lol nothing you'd notice- a black Bf falcoon xr6 turbo. Got hail dents and a matt black xr8 bonnet. And yes bubba, next time I can predict I'll run in to you, I will try to be in the stagie!
  6. Bubba in his Stagie at Basso shops. Nice to meet ya! Also saw a nice s2 in white on Albany hwy this morning going under leach hwy. Sounded nice, looked good too.
  7. Sorry but what's "economy"? 
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180512673167&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT Anyone care to shed some light on these? Not going to buy one but interesting. I presume that it just fools the computer into thinking the throttle is more depressed than it is when in sport mode. We'd probably still be shut down by the factory computer throttle settings anyway?
  9. Surely there's a photoshopper on here somewhere? I'm intrigued to see what it looks like. I recall seeing the R35 stagtr and hated it at first but it grew on me....
  10. One word that makes the looks irrelevant: Turbo.
  11. Thanks. Nice to know and hope I don't have to use it!
  12. No problems Leon. The fitting procedure should be pretty much the same for any digital tuner. Just wanted to add that the factory reverse camera still works as normal- the car automatically switches between the reverse camera and aux in (asuka tuner in my case). I'm guessing that cars without the reverse camera will simply have no harness plugged in to the factory tv tuner so the top right vtr/aux socket will be empty.
  13. Well I finally got around to installing the TV tuner in my M35. The car is a2001 M35 ARX with factory reverse camera, Japanese TV and bose stereo . I bought an Asuka TV tuner from Chook on the forums and the rest of the stuff I had in my electronics parts bin or bought from Jaycar. I also decided to run a 3 RCA lead from the glovebox to the Asuka AV1 input so that I could plug an ipod/dvd player etc in and view it on the screen (but only if the source is ntsc I believe). At the very least it will play the sound through the car stereo. The first step was to buy 5m of four core shielded cable for the 3 RCA lead, along with a yellow, red and white male RCA plug, and a plate with RCA female connectors on it (all from Jaycar). Once finished, I had the three male plugs on one end (-->Asuka) and the females on the other, to be mounted above the glovebox. I removed the glovebox (four screws inside top edge including latch screws and two on the bottom edge at each end), then removed the passenger kick panel and all the trims on the passenger side of the car. The trims on the bottom of the door openings simply pull up, the centre pillar one is clipped in place with fairly firm clips and the trim piece that runs up towards the rear from the back seat area is clipped and also has a hidden plug underneath the black trim that runs along the cargo area under the rear side window. To remove that black trim, there are screws and clips. Some of the screws are behind hooks and some are behind little covers but are pretty obvious. The rear left side trim doesn't need to be removed but loosened. Pry the plastic covers away on the chrome luggage hooks and unscrew them. Pull the rubber boot seal away and pry the side trim away- there's two plastic clips securing it but a flat blade screwdriver will help pop them. Once this is all done, run whatever leads you need to the front of the car- at least the IR extender for the new tuner remote control. I ran that and my RCA lead. The TV tuner box is secured vertically behind the side trim panel and can be recognised by the 4 aerial leads going in to it. Mine has a reverse camera so the wiring harness plugs into the AUX input socket (VTR in xanavi language). That little harness has a flying lead and socket on it as well, which is identical to the socket on the tuner(top right in first image below). So it's either the socket on the tuner or the female plug on the flying lead that we're going to be using to plug the asuka tuner in to. Oh, and ignore the "UP" marking on the tuner box- it's mounted facing down in our cars. The last photo shows the aux socket top left and power socket bottom right- for future reference. In order to connect the asuka to the original tuner, you need a lead. You can buy one for Chris Rogers on the forum or if you're more adventurous, you can make one. I was impatient so decided to make one out of an old RCA lead and some computer connectors. The connectors are the sort that are used for front panel led's etc to connect to the motherboard. Only do this if you're pretty confident with your soldering skills as it's pretty fiddly. The connection layout is as per the photo. VTR R+(red centre pin), VTR L+(white centre pin) and VTR GND are the audio connections. The grounds can be joined (this is the outer part of the RCA plug) for the VTR GND connection. This is the new lead plugged into the flying harness The VTR+ and VTR- are the video feeds which are the yellow RCA lead connections (again + is centre pin). The top right pin in the socket is for the shield, which I didn't bother with. If you have a long cable run then you might need it. My lead ended up being around 20cm and it's fine. On the diagram I drew above, the colours are the Nissan wiring loom colours. Next, cut the connectors off the aerial leads, strip them back and join them in pairs. I soldered the centre conductors together to make it easier to connect- make sure all the braid is away from the centre. I was supplied with screw in connectors which aren't that secure but I made do. I ended up tightly wrapping the connectors with tape to hold the aerial leads in. Power for the asuka. I only needed constant 12V, ignition switched 12V and earth. Earth is easy and I used one of the mount screws for the tuner. To get power, I piggy backed the power for the original tuner. As you look at the tuner in the car, there is a four pin harness going into the unit on the same side as the four aerials. On this harness, yellow is +12V and green is ignition switched 12V. I soldered my wires here- try to not twist and tape as they may well come loose. You can see below that the power harness also has a plug and socket- I found it easier to take the power off further up the harness past that plug and socket. Up front, I stuck the IR receiver under the glovebox near the kick panel and my RCA sockets in the top of the glovebox- there's a little opening almost designed for it! Now connect it all up and test. I hit the TV button on the dash then select the "VCR" setting. You should come up with the asuka test screen, which after the initial setup will probably be in black and white. Go into the menu, select ntsc output then tune and away you go! If anyone wants larger photos, let me know and I'll email them to you.
  14. Yes I know. I just had a window of opportunity to work on the car today for the first time in months and was all geared up until people came round all afternoon. pm sent! One day......
  15. I'm about to install my asuka tv tuner in my m35 (ARX with TV, reverse camera). There's plenty of instructions for the previous stageas but none for hooking up to the M35 tuner (that I can see, and I've been searching for a while). My main problem is where does the asuka hook into the m35 tv tuner? I'm gathering it's not a simple rca style av in as per the older stags? I saw someone mention getting a harness off Chris Rogers- that's fine but I want to do it now! I am more than capable with a soldering iron so just need to know where to go into it and I can make a lead up no problems.
  16. I know this is reviving an old thread...but.... I had the airbag light on. Did the key reset and it came back after a couple of days. Took it to the workshop (C-Red in Perth ) and Mark chucked it on his scanner. No code came up and he reset it properly and it's been good ever since. Mark said there is a known glitch with the V/G/M 35 airbag system- something to do with a passenger side seatbelt switch.
  17. Any updates- Chrissie or New Years pressie?
  18. Angus, put me down for one, and yes I'd prefer black coating.... Have money waiting so let me know when you want it.
  19. Me too, not sure about the styling issues. Also I'd question why you'd bother, especially in Britain where cars are cheap. For that money you'd get a 2001 Maserati. For just under 20K (pounds) you can just get into a V12 Aston Martin Vantage.... or for less than the 10K take your pick of M3's, Audi Rs's etc. There's a limit to being different I reckon. I play with my cars but if those sort of cars were that cheap here, I'd be getting one of them rather than a bodged up half breed.
  20. Thanks Chris, I'll let the boys know that you can do it. The car will be going in to have the(very) intermittent radar cruise looked at at the same time.... Andy
  21. Thanks Dunc, forgot about that one. Yes, I'll shoot Chris a PM- just a shame I'm way over west...
  22. The power to the stereo and climate control has started playing up in my M35 arx. I've got the tv screen and bose stereo. When it happens, all the lights go out, no sound comes from the stereo and the air con fan remains at what is was set and and can't be adjusted. You can hit the side of the centre console and sometimes it will power up again. Most of the time it is on but seems to be getting more intermittent. Has anyone experienced this- and any suggestions? Fuse seems ok (if it's the right one- haven't got a translated fuse cover sticker yet)
  23. Or maybe it didn't sell so he relisted it at a lower price....
  24. The O.E. ones are leftovers from a building supply company from the 80's. Best fitted to rusty old Hilux's and VK Commodores.
  25. My key was around $200 new from Nissan (Northside here in Perth) and cost a carton to program- but now we don't need to do that! The a$$ rapi$t at the key shop charged me $30 to cut the key! Wouldn't have paid that if I knew it was going to cost that much- I'm sure Mr Minute or similar would be cheaper. So all up around $300. Lucky I did it as the battery in the original key gave out the day after! (still haven't got the replacement...)
