  1. hahah............. I had a different brand tyre on the front from the rear and the ATESSA was complaining. They were made as the same size tyre 265/35/18 but that small difference in diameter had torque always going to the front. So good luck trying to get your fronts and rears to within 3% of the same diameter. I'd do same wheel and tyre all round unquestionably. And it'd be 18 x 10.5 +15 with a 265/35 tyre on 'em. Done. Perfect.
  2. Gotrice is onto it, I recently had the same trouble, so popped down to the nearest tyre place and borrowed a rattle gun. Mind you, they'll probably not do it for you in case something goes wrong, but rattle it off, zap it up again and drive home. Then won't have an issue.
  3. Damn it man....... that is gorgeous! Love it. I would't compromise on a White Series 3 when I was looking, but this I should have considered. Very nice.
  4. This is a tough one. I've been through the builds, and have enjoyed every moment of them. Well almost every. But sometimes you just have to go through it. If you love tinkering, if you love the continuous improvements and performance increases you get from the messing about, and if you have to have something different, then a build is good. As long as you don't ever expect to get anything of that money back through resale. You have to do it for the love and pay for it. It's worse of an investment than the car itself. If you really want something that is built right from the foundation, and really care about the performance and having some reliability with it, I'd start with something built to perform. ie GTR. Cos the thing has the chassis for your power, the brakes for your power, the drivetrain to handle it and the engineering that makes it a great base to start from. I've had a few and as much as I liked them, and as much as they served their purpose, if I were to compare them to my mildly tuned GTR, they were like cobbled together toys. So it's all about what you want from it.
  5. Thanks mate, I got them off the net from the US, with the strong dollar, they're even cheaper now. Only time it rubs is on full lock on uneven ground. No problem at all.
  6. Well spotted!! RPF1 in 18 x 10.5 +15 with 265/35/18s Tyre's are a tad stretched for me so might replace them with 275s next I reckon. Pipe also sits a bee's D*&% off 100mm so the 275's will prolly just take it to legal with the tiny extra sidewall. There are no spacers on there either in case you're wondering. Thanks for the comments too guys. How people think 33 GTRs are ugly is beyond me. hahaha...... (although I have seem some horrid looking ones if I'm honest.)
  7. Hahah....... I love how we all love clear headlights... I had a Series 2 about 6 years ago and was always jealous of everyone who had clear headlights....hahah... must be an R33 owner thing. Piggaz... this was where I took that photo.
  8. So I'm not the only one who thinks the 33s are the fattest, toughest, most appealingly styled Sky's made.. Great thread. Here's my S3 GTR on RPF1s.
  9. My word that's tidy.......... there are some nice ones around Melb but why do I never see them getting around?
  10. Just so we all keep our minds open, I used to setup and fabricate components for the Australian Sport Sedan series and we would do a lot of setup for guys who did club sprints and the odd trackday also. And we nearly always ran a stretched tyre on the track setups, as this assisted in the reduction of the time the tyre would "set" into load at initial turn in and improved steering response as a result, but it would still allowed the tyre to retain the radial compliance from an unchanged sidewall profile so as to not alter the straight line and corner stability through bumps. Just some insight.
  11. Stumbled upon this somehow, interesting read............... and by interesting, I mean in......teresting.............. here ya go, be careful next time to line up with a baby Suzie....hahah love it. http://www.redlinegti.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18379
  12. That would have been me. Why didn't i see you? Were you in the Skyline, I normally give a wave when I see a fellow enthusiast in a great car. Car's been sitting in the garage and it was so nice just to take her out and potter around.
  13. Hey VSPECT, did you go up Burwood Hwy toward the city around Warrigal? I was filling up at the BP before Warri and heard a humin RB, turned around and saw a nice Grey 33GTR go past. Got a few strange comments at that station, first guy gets into his car and says to me " hey, beautiful tyres mate", was wondering why he was looking at the tyres..... they're tyres. And then as I was paying, the attendant saw the key and said "wow, beautiful key, did that come with the car". People were noticing strange things that day.
  14. Yeah, shouldn't be a problem, they did this to mine too, right between the spokes, pretty half rsed if you ask me. Anyway I simply marked the posi, cleaned the inner rim, moved the weight 10mm or so in with some new double sided tape, and perfect. Has not impacted the balance at all. Although I believe for the absolute perfect balance, a machine will tell you whether the weight would be more effective on the inside or outside of the rim. But when it's between the spokes, it's not really at the outermost edge of the rim, so I would be very surprised if it changed anything.
  15. Hahah.... yeah, funny you say, just couldn't decide on whether to go a Full Akro, Full Yosh, or Slip. And I wussed out thinking that it was just going to be painful on the head to hear that think humming the whole time. Turns out I only really use it on the track so really didn't matter, then i heard one, now I'm thinking again...... And gonna need a little more of a run down on the Merc I reckon, missus was going to buy one and I told her she wouldn't like it and tried to get her to settle on an Elise......... she didn't have a bar of it once she saw that it had no carpet. So she's still in a little GTI as well. Who the hell cares if there's carpet. Oh well.
  16. Since we're all doing it, Here's a peek into the garage, although they don't all fit in the garage. The Fat girl, the Daily, and the Crotch Rock.
  17. Well 37 here and didn't even think of the stigma that went with them when I bought another one. Always had cars with a performance orientation of some kind including a Turbo Bluebird, MR2, Clio Sport, R33 GTR, Golf GTI (Still have as the daily), so buying another R33 was purely out of a love of them and having driven 5 M3's and simply not liking them, as much as i originally wanted one. And everyone who's seen the car (aged between 30 and 50 generally) has just agreed that it is just a beautiful classic looking thing. I don't even take them for a drive and they really love it. So there you go, the Stigma of which you speak may be in fact be more attached to the individual owners rather than the cars themselves.

    Ratpiss Kids

If it's peace you want to keep, i'd definately leave a little earlier and park the car in an area away from the kids for sure. Park it where other cars are parked if possible. Even if it's a 5 or 10 min walk to your sisters. I'd rather do that then worry about my car being damaged every day.
  19. Sorry mate they've gone, but the AWD is very sensitive and i'd suggest running staggered certainly will. I had same sizes however different brands front to rear and the clutch was always partially engaged. Not good.
  20. Life is so much better when you stop caring about what anyone else thinks about you and your decisions. And things have changed. In the last 6 months driving around for work, I've seen about 6 R32 GTRs, one of those about 5 times, beautiful example, 4 R34 GTRs and not one 33GTR, not one. Interesting side note and a little off the track, but I tend to give a thumbs up to another GTR driver when I'm in mine, and for some reason, the R34 owners reciprocate and sometimes want a chat whereas the 32 owners don't really give a toss. Just something I've noticed when in mine. What's that about. Funny..

    Gtr Suspention

Have a pair of near new Khumo KU31s for sale if you're interested in picking up two on the cheap mate. Have a look at the for sale thread below if interested. 265 18s. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/353838-fs-2-x-khumo-ecsta-spt-26535zr18-almost-new/page__gopid__5713972
  22. Just for clarity, these are KU31s. I'll take $180 firm for the pair pick up from SE Melb.
  23. For sale are a pair of Khumo Ecsta SPT tyres in 265/35/ZR18. These tyres were put on the car when I bought it for a RWC, then I replaced them with the originals so I'd think they'd not even travelled 100kms and they were on the fronts. Cost the owner $560.00 for the pair as per the receipt and as I rarely drive the car, i can't see me needing them for quite some time. Asking $250 for the two pick up only in the SE suburbs of Melbourne.
