  1. Problem is he will lose the power in the top end. If going to 8cm housings, better off just putting -9s on and have the most blistering response possible for the 330-340rwkw marker. (Although with 8cm it should make a tad more). 517s have never been as good as -5s... I don't think saying you can pick up 1,000rpm response is entirely accurate by the same token. They start coming on by 4,000rpm as his 517s, they are just "all-in" if you will, a lot sooner depending on the setup. Have been in two cars now that went from 517s to -5s - it's a noticeable difference... Although really, 20psi or more should be well and truly in by 5,000rpm so me thinks issues with cam set-up as per Piggaz comments are heading towards. Would start there before pulling turbos off, you might find a fix without going through a 3.5-4k expenditure.
  2. Thread closed. Believe it or not, but since SAU started more than 7 years ago, this topic has been discussed before. Please use the search function in future. It may be found here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&search_in=forums While we understand that it can be frustrating to have your thread closed - Please consider that other members may feel it to be disrespectful and selfish of you to post a simple question, without using the search feature to review the wealth of information provided by said members over the years. If you still feel that this action is unjust, then please PM me and we can discuss it further.
  3. If they are Tomei. Commiserations... Just search "ARMS" here on the forums and you'll see they are not the best performing twin configuration, they are almost the worst. They are better than factory though in that they wont break. So that's good news
  4. Full respray might end up seeing the car written off through insurance. Too little/too vauge level of information to accurately say much more than that. If they do write it off, and you have salvage options - you financially could be well better off... Something to think about
  5. Yeah Citywide - Jack. If ya need his number lemme know Adam (sms/email me) Most certainly still in the business!
  6. Yeah give SAU Traders love guys - They help keep us alive!
  7. ^ that way my understanding as well... A slight performance advantage. The comment about gaining 100hp is correct though (and you wouldn't gain 1000rpm by the same token)... None the less there are minor benefits. GCG RB25 hi-flows, back 8-10 years ago, were excellent for what they were - there was not a lot else on the market and what products were - performed very poorly. These days there is more development and better options around. Unless the GCG billet wheel is actually a different specification, trim etc, you are still better going elsewhere.

  9. Any time mate, I'm full of useless information
  10. Import Monster (SAU Sponsor) as also moving a lot of Nitto stock lately, give them a bell for a price too and let them know you're a SAU'er - supporting sponsors keeps the forums alive
  11. Well I cant make Winton/Driver training - I'm bloody O/S (just realised). So I'm a vote in favour of moving to GP weekend. I'll move my GP commitments around as/if they come up.
  12. Given my SQL isn't particularly good. Doing it the thread-by-thread manner will take far less time.
  13. Closing. At least try the search first...
  14. Yep as it says, r-compound/track (semi slick) vs the R-S3 which is extreme street performance
  15. You should come down to the Island as well Ali, even if it's just a social visit Looks like there are 4 R35s going to be in attendance at this stage!
  16. Sorry - Missed PM's, i dont set them to notify me (i only check them once a week/fortnight). If you use the "report post" button, then everyone in the team should see it (ie heaps of us), rather than just a single private message. That way anyone can action it when they get a few spare mins in their day. I'll sort it out later today for you. RE: Post editing - to stop scammers who would edit entire posts at once after ripping someone off so there was no way of tracking them or what the goods were. It cannot be enabled for a 'single instance' or anyting, it's a global change.

You moving there for longer than 12 months? That's the min time IIRC. Compliance would be a few thousand - put aside 5k worst case. Wouldn't be that hard to sell, given what you would pay for it vs what it would then sell for. But like most things, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Obviously getting a older one would be less desirable given the updates in the newer MY years to fix various problems - so latest and greatest would be best long term.
  18. Ok ladies, keep the panties on. And OP - use the search button next time please, a simple question with 10 answers a year.
  19. PSS like other higher performance road tyres (continental etc) will mince the outside sidewall pretty easily on heavier cars. I'm going through this at the moment with my big tanker. R32 GT-R but better, but you are carrying more speed... Really depends if you are doing track days or not as one track day You've then got the more extreme performance of NT05/AD08/R-S3 etc. Can venture to the track an not be as worried. If it's just street then it probably doesn't matter a hell of a lot and the NT05 for that price would seem the pick of the bunch. If you were doing the track days the AD08® still seems to be most popular as the tyre is like a brick, sidewall of amazing excellence which gives the confidence one needs (and also decent wear). I loved my AD08 for that reason and went through 2 sets of them in my time on the 33R, they took such an epic beating - was very surprised. Just the price that is the killer. R-S3 seem the better tyre for a single lap time, AD08 for the lap after lap.
  20. Yeah sounds like fuel pump. Begs the question though, stock fuel reg is more than adequate for your application. You can push another 100rwkw before you'd need to think about changing it. So keep that in mind if you have issues with it later on, go back to stock.
  21. 1. Ensure you have oil temp gauge. 2. Ensure you over fill the sump by 1 Litre before attempting track duties. 3. Ensure all other fluids are topped up and good to go 4. If brakes are under 30% pad, fix that up. 5. Ensure you READ the supp regs and sort things out like Fire Extinguisher, Battery point markers etc. Otherwise you should be good to go. Long term it would be a good idea to sort an oil cooler and pay some attention to better brakes if you've not done half decent pads/rotors as at tracks like Winton you're gonna have a tough time. There is sooooo much experience in the SAU-Vic track group, it's the best place to come if you want to do some laps in a Nissan. And if there isn't someone that can't answer your questions or help you out, then you've got something really wrong and should probably start worrying hahaha Most all though remember to have fun as that's what it's all about. There are no heros at our events, just a bloody good bunch of guys so make sure you find the banners and come say a g'day.
  22. And after all that I know someone that'll have a full R33 non-vspec rear for sale soon
  23. Totally fine. It's only when you go to FIXED back (non folding) in a coupe and things become problematic.
  24. Give Mick @ Micolour a call Bris - The guy with the business in the back half of his shop is a motor trimmer, his name escapes me right now but the work I've seem him do is excellent and could be an option
  25. Well the cost would be roughly $1000 (worst case of course) for two turbos by the time you buy the parts, send them off to be assembled/balanced. So yeah it most certainly is cheaper... But they are soooo much laggier. We are talking laggier than a -5 turbo (capable of 400rwkw) but they will only make the power of a -9s (340rwkw). That's not really a good option in anyones books to have all the lag without the power. Pretty hard to justify that being an 'upgrade'. You'd be better off taking the chance with a 2nd hand set of -9s for $1200-$1400 and getting them inspected.
