one last question, what can i do about the restrictor? i dont want a loud droning cop attracting noisey car, what options are there here?
-
Im not sure, i have a different one on my car which is Jap and has the 2.5 restricter in the muffler, im getting a dump pipe made ( 3 1/2inch to go on the end of my gtx3076) so when i get it back ill have to figure out what the go is with the flanges. If i were to buy a 4inch cat would it have these small flanges? or larger but the bolts still be in the same position.
-
I was measuring a catback exhaust ( supposed to be 3 1/2inch catback) with a vernier caliper and noticed that the pipes outside diameter is 3.2inch and the inside diameter of the flange is 2.7inch, i can see the pipe before the flange is also smaller, probably 2.7inch as well . so what id like to know is , if an exhaust is said to be a 3inch or 3 1/2inch system, is it normal to have the inside of the flanges at a measured 2.7inch, surely the inside of the flange should be the same as the pipe itself so that it is the same size all the way thru. can anyone shed some light on this? as i need a 3inch or 3 1/2 inch system to get 300kw and wondering why these flanges are smaller than the pipe.

is there anyway to tell if you have aftermarket cams? would it be obvious?
-
i wonder what a GTX3076 with 0.82 external will do on 18-20psi, will be some interesting comparisons to come in the future, mine is probably a month off, will post results then..

what about if the car has some aftermarket cams? wouldnt that make the compression drop , my first car had the cam reground and the compression fell from 150psi to 110psi, that would explain it having fairly low km's and down on compression...

Loud Thumping From My Rear Right Corner
AngryRB replied to Mohsen's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
+1 for wheel bearing, have you checked the wheel for movement side to side? just on the weekend i had a wheel bearing go on a boat trailer, when your accelerating the wheel seems to straighten up, but when breaking or cuising the the wheel wobbles and that makes the bang noise, try throwing some water on the wheel after a drive and if you get a big cloud of steam then you know its about ready to fly off the car, i think you might be close if your hearing that noise anyway. -
Thanks guys for all the good advice, Towed the car to ERD this morning, ended up using 3 tie downs and had my bro follow behind me in his car just to make sure it was ok, first time towing was a bit anxious lol, but was suprisingly smooth ride, the car didnt move at all on the trailer and was solid, the EL falcon got a work out.. i can see why people use 4wd's to tow there drag cars.. the temp guage was sitting high and the brakes became shakey by the end. Cheers

Thanks for the pic Rekin, ok i think im all sorted now , cheers people.

Thanks for the tips, im hoping that 4 ratchet tiedowns ( 1500kg rated each ) is enough around the lower suspension on each corner then, i think the tow trucks use chains and winches but ill be driving steady , its a 30min drive and the front of the trailer has a wire that hooks onto the tow hook, and the trailer has brakes . The trailer says its rated at 1200kg, do you guys see any problem if the skyline is 1400kg? Do you guys think there is any issues with this setup? i know i could of just got a tow truck but it would be alot more expensive.

May sound like a silly question, I'll be towing my car on a car trailer for the first time next week and need some advice on how to tie the car down, eg. where do i tie down? the diff? each wheel? all 4 wheels? chains or truck tie down ok?

Compressor Wheel Designs Changing .
AngryRB replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
looking at the GTX compressor wheel on mine recently, it looks very different to the old garrett that came off, looks soft like aluminium and the very curvy. looks alot more aggressive not that ive seen alot of them.. -
Snapped Studs From Head To Exhaust Manifold
AngryRB replied to DJBarnstar's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
+1 thats what i did with mine, had to use a larger helicoil when the first one didnt work, use a center punch so you drill in the middle otherwise it will be harder, lucky my bolts were not too tight, good luck -
i just put new studs on and new bolts, the bolts i was givin were bigger than the standard ( 17mm opposed to 14mm spanner used) and were a tighter fit on the thread than the old ones ( tighter on and tighter off, you can get these ) , if the bolts are working loose you should try locking two nuts together instead of using just one, that way it cant come loose or try a tighter fitting nut. The bolts and studs from MTQ were pretty crap, i dont think they even matched properly, the ones from the nuts and bolts shop look solid alot more solid and beefy, i can honestly say, do not skimp in this department cause after drilling out 6 old broken bolts out of the cylinder head and some new bolts even stripping threads on new studs lol, you dont want to do this twice lol...
-
Im doing a similar thing, but fitting a gtx3076 and i got some studs from a local nuts and bolts shop, heaps around Have you checked if your manifold is warped? cause mine is and will have to be machined, thought i should mention it in case you put yours on and its leaking.

Last time i checked it was more like 2 1/2 inch i think, that was on my fujitsubo muffler thats a 3 1/2inch muffler, anyone correct me on that? Sorry to change topic here, but can anyone say how much power would be lost at 270-300kw's with a restricter in the muffler?? im assuming not that much but need to know
-
they are exactly like the red ones pictured above, except they are yellow and arnt new, i suspect 5years old or more there are 4 with 0066530 and 2 with 0066703 wish i just got some new deatchworks now, oh well see what happens.

a nice clean GTR

you could source a second hand HKS hi power silent muffler or a fujitsubo muffler fairly cheaply, they meet the noise standards in japan and are quiet but still sound very nice when revved high, that might sound even better too depending how loud you like the exhaust. the cat wont make that much difference, i think its mostly the muffler thats making the noise cause i have a full 3 1/2 inch system with decat, and fujitsubu muffler, and its very quiet on an idle and still sounds good when given a bootful. hope that helps

while were talking bout high flow injectors, i bought some second hand injectors which were private sale, there were advertised as "nismo 555cc injectors", they are yellow on top, 4 holes and side feed Problem is the numbers cant be identified on google and searches ive done , they have U.J A46-Z00 on them, ive heard there just highflowed standards possibly. are these going to work for 300rwkw? i was told they made 270, but i dont know. Will have them tested , but any opinions?

cool, ill be takin em thanks, ill have some chips with that too thanks

i just bought a GTX3076 .82 external today, hehe!! gonna have some good times soon, will be good to compare dyno graphs once i get the rest of the bits im just wondering about the cams, is it worth using cam gears on stock cams? or is it only benefit with aftermarket cams? and where do you source coolant for a 44mm external tial? im assuming to put a tee or somthing in the turbo coolant line? happy chappy here
-
sorry its goooooone!!!!
-
lol, didnt mean to step on peoples toes with that comment I wasnt meaning to make a comparison between a gt2876 and any gt30's, For such low boost on this gt2876, its the most fun, aggressive car ive seen, ( not seen many gt30's yet) If i can get a video of it, itwould paint a better picture.

My brother has one of these turbo's on his r33, and its nothing like whats been mentioned here his runs only 11psi and is like an animal, it pulls from 3500 to 7000rpm, breaks traction in second too, im guessing it has a large rear housing Although i dont know about its long term health, it suffers from some bad surging.
