  1. what causes the revs to fly up to 1300 initially though? can that be changed? eg, driving along, pull up at the traffic lights and clutch in, revs hold on 1300rpm for 5-10sec then die down to 1000rpm, not really necessary for it to do that it feel like when using an automatic and changing back to neutral..when stood still
  2. ahh the revs come down after bout 5mins, from say 1300 to bout a 1000rpm, i noticed the fast idle after it was tuned, dont think i had this high idle with the factory computer, thats why i was wondering bout the pwr fc settings, ill go clean the AAC valve tomorrow to rule it out though..

  4. ah ok, i see now, thats pretty good so this is the problem then, mine is set to idle at the correct idle but its actually idling at 1000rpm, why do you think thats happening?
  5. hey i think i see what your talking about, but in there it says following: rev limit-6900 F/C A/C 1200 F/C A/C 1300 IDLE A/C 650 IDLE A/C 700 so the idle in neutral rises every time i start or put the clutch in after crusing etc, ( same as an auto when you shift from D into N) to around 1300rpm then settles after bout 10sec to be 1000rpm..eg at traffic lights or just starting it hot , starting it cold it stays shoots to 1400rpm then settles to 1300 til it warms up a bit... its the hot idle i want to return to 800 or 900, to quieten it down, cause on a fast idle its very loud, booming noise, embarrassing lol when your sitting at the traffic lights etc..

  7. well i havnt yet, but i did push the down button and saw it idled where i wanted it, but somhow i get the feeling thats not the way to do it.... so i put it back and left it. ok so can somone tell me how to reduce the idle speed? just need to drop it 200rpm........... without changing any other parameters??
  8. Just a quick question on the pwr fc.... since installing it and having it tuned few months back, my idle speed is just over 1000rpm.... Ive never had issues with idle or idle speed so im assuming it is the settings on the pwr fc because if i go into the settings part and adjust the ign ( 10deg at idle) down to -15 it will idle where i want (900ish) If i do that will it reduce the timing thru the whole map and stuff up the tune?? or is there another way to adjust the idle?

I wouldnt be taking it back there, id check everything yourself like everyone has said, since it wasnt doing it before, and you said he replaced rocker cover and exhaust gasket ( assuming dump pipe) then theres your answer ive had pretty much the same with mine, and it was all to do with the gasket being the wrong one, also you dont need any gasket goo on that fitting, incase you can see any The people on here know there skylines better than the average mechanic , and they dont get paid for there knowledge so they are the tech people in most situations

  12. lol.. i know but that was given to me by a workshop, its not all paper, its got metal on the outside of it so it looked half decent, it just burned up after a week...

Hey i thought all skyline whistled??? but you must be talking about an unusually loud whistle, What exhaust gasket was replaced?? was it a dump pipe gasket?? if it was then make sure it is the proper one, its a steel type one not a paper looking one, big difference in the two, it expands with the heat, the paper ones arent for the dump and they burn up and leak as i found out , either way when the dump isnt sealed properly that makes it whistle alot, plus what others have said with manifold.. not sure about intake manifolds making the whistle?? are all the bolts tight on the dump?? some bolts are a prick to tighten up and might need retightened later too..

Ive never owned a GTR but i was considering a cheap one a while back, a few reviews i read highlighted the 4wd system, apparently is very expensive to rebuild, i think its the torque splitter or somthing... cost big $$ to repair some other problems could worn out synchro's and blown turbo's, also check if its been in a crash and not repaired properly, and what if its been in a flood?? not sure how to check that one.. my 2c

  16. no expert here first of all, but after doing the same with my r33, i noticed the idle started to hunt, (pwr FC) so maybe you disturbed somthing like the throttle sensor etc???
  17. yeah very true, im just hoping to equal my previous atleast and maybe 13.5 with a decent take off, i dont think the tein coilovers are doing any favours , they are as stiff as anything and bouncy on the street, but will my best with practice and report back.. will have some fun anyway, thats what its about lol,... give them hell! or as close to it hey..
  18. hey im not sure but i think fronts will be a tight fit will also be very close.....hmm, i have 18by 9.5inch with 245 and it just scrubs slightly on front, with wider guards on which im selling, they are fine(15mm wider) rear seems to have a bit to spare with same width tyre and offset (30 all round) so you will be pushing to limits i reckon...
  19. yeah i have my old 16inch 205/55's, should of put them on hey, but stupid not to of put them on ....didnt think im keen to try again next week so will post again with better results hopefully, also thinking about staging the boost on the avcr, to 7psi till 4000rpm then 15psi, see if it helps me to get off the line with less wheel spin.. see what happens

  22. was loving the sound/display of a 300kw r33 that did us folks justice and hosed off some R8's, that was awesome display and sound sooo nasty.... Long live the RB!!!!!!!!!!!! awesome in full modification and tune...mmm nice........
  23. i remember it was 160km/hr exactly, apologies for the other details it just i was disgusted with the outcome, couldnt beleive it was so slow after doing a 13.8 before with less power etc.... it was 108mph before when doing 13.8, i know that... so as you can see, i really fell short of the full potential of it, but obviously it needs a gt3076 or the like and just a matter of time, and alot of practice, sorry to the skyline people let ya down and will amend this disgrace, lol being beaten by those V8's is hard to take,,, talking bout HSV's stock, xr6/xr8's grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
  24. yes yes i agree with you very much, i think it must be my lack of experience totally, ill try again soon though with different wheels and tyres, and less throttle off the line,,,,, i think my MPH was somthing like 88MPH so was pathetic, all i can think off was it felt like a burnout the whole of first gear...all the other gears felt strong.. and end speed was 160km (previous was 170KM) power is up from 195 to 215 and much more torque) sorry thats all the info i can give thanks for ya reply , that helps alot in knowing what it should be if i have all the details correct for the future
  25. so i guess the best i can do is adjust the tein coilover to softest and put those factory mags and fatish tyres back on.... maybe if i adust the avcr to come on full boost after 4000rpm it might have less wheelspin??? stiffin up the fron to the max to push the force on the back wheels... do the handbrake as well...?? im going back in the next week, try again.... would love to beat some of the R8/flalcons... got to do the skyline some justice and do a flat 13 damit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
