The thermostat has 3 bolts, id use a spanner/rachet and might need extension whatever is best i can remember how i did it now but its straight forward, the crank bolt can be a PITA but sounds like you have good ideas, its bloody tight so i use a rachet and long extension bar to give big leaverage.. its approx 108nm which is alot and use locktight when putting back on, you need the R33 workshop manual to go off, careful cause you can f#$k it up and the engine if not sure.. My stock coilpacks couldn't handle 200kw's apparently or maybe the workshop was dodgey but they are old so just do it to save the drama causing on the dyno its like $200/hr.. I've done the radiator flush etc and all i did was run the engine with heater on and wait for the overflow to occur thru the radiator and put cap on, then check level when cold , the bubbles will find the way out...dont stress.. Dont cheap out on the turbo, its the heart of everything, im a GT3076 whore, will deliver for street etc even better on E85

1.Just put a new thermostat on, there's 3 bolts that should be accessible with the correct tools. The water pump is likely to be fine, but replace as well if worried cause they are cheap and easy fitting anyway. 3. People either go for drop in's ( Does the Job) which is easy to do, so 550's, 740's or they go top feed conversion ( Best option) with Xspurt 1000's which are perfect for E85 later on.. Best to keep it simple with a highflow or a GT, GTX probably overkill on stock internals, best stick with a mid range spike of 20psi and bleed it down at the top end eg 16psi Will need splitfires, Z32 Stock clutch is ok if you let the clutch out and then drop the hammer..

The Black Pearl - My R33 S1 Build
AngryRB replied to MC-WOSHY's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
The timing belts tend to be noisey for some reason and yes the SS2 will easily do 400hp, its a big mofo.. I'd be careful you dont create somthing laggy, if you only using 98 then a 6boost mani and GTX3076 will be nothing nothing until about 4000-4500rpm.. think of it as more like a GT35 I ran one with E85 and stock mani, absolute weapon with 20plus psi, but still nothing til 4000rpm then its beast mode.. -
The Black Pearl - My R33 S1 Build
AngryRB replied to MC-WOSHY's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
You could do it a lot cheaper with a stock mani and a hypergear , the SS2 is a GT3076 equivilant and can use internal gate and bolt up to your existing pipes.. The series 1 i purchased has this setup, not tuned yet though, also has some of these noises like yours, bit of a worry but no issues with boosting.. -
Angryrb's Project Series 1
AngryRB replied to AngryRB's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
jmknights93- thanks, I'm gonna try and get this thing finished alot quicker and plan now is to later drop the 2530neo in with all the good shit bolted on etc.. so pretty excited, this thing looks hot so lovin this transformation... -
Was about $600 first time and $200-300 for the second touch up tune on E85 compare that to a top place in brisbane ( not sure if i can name) who charged me $1000 just to tune a very mild setup with a high flow.. Having said that i try to give the tuner a good package to tune, so one with new parts/combination so he doesn't have to dick around with rubbish, but he will likely tell you in the before tune inspection...

I recommend you chat with Gavin Woods at Labrador, i have used him a few times and he knows a power fc better than most and at the end you wont get a nasty suprise with the bill...

Angryrb's Project Series 1
AngryRB replied to AngryRB's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
So, this thread is going to be simple, currently it was at 200kw's with the 2540, the goal is to get anything north of 280kw's and see how it goes at drags and track. Have lots of parts so stay tuned for a fairly quick build up -
After not driving my skyline for a year, probably more i happened to have the opportunity to buy this series 1 R33 from family so missing driving and liking this series 1 i snapped it up.. I've been in and around this car for years and envied it cause to me it just looks hot and has always performed well, 13 second flat quarters with what most say is a shitty HKS 2540 turbo which surged its head off when the cat was gutted..Since then the turbo was replaced with a Hypergear SS2 and still retains the original tune from Japan and everything else thats bolted/attached to it... I'll just list what i know it has SS2 hypergear turbo SAFC controller HKS boost controller 3inch exhaust system Mines ecu i think GTR dash Blitz side skirts Trial rear bar Nismo wheels? Koyo radiator Exedy clutch short shifter

Angryrb's R33 Street Sweeper
AngryRB replied to AngryRB's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
No progress at moment, waiting for manifold and exhaust still, have sent turbo housings and rocker covers for ceramic coating so can't wait to see all these parts soon.. In other news, i acquired my brothers skyline so now i have two, i like this one more than my silver one so not sure what will happen here but i will convert to E85 and getting it dynoed, bout time i had some fun at a track or drags... Maybe start a different build thread for this one.. -
overwhelming responses, thanks dudes lol..... went with HKS hi power 409 biches.. will include go pro footage in build thread in couple months for those interested
