  1. Hey guys I put my stagea back together and have few questions. Its a s1 c34 stagea with an RB3025 Front shafts have been removed and RB30 sump used. Can the bands in the box be tightened up? Cause i was told by the gearbox guy that there is no adjustment possible. The issue is 3rd flares under some load and generally it drops down gears a bit to eagerly. It will hold 4th on a flat Also, it wont go into Park anymore, is that common ? Finally, should i grab another box and throw it in or rebuild it? Mechanic guy quoted $1600 just to swap a secondhand box in which seems steep..
  2. Had it at the tuners for a check up and turns out there is dramatic difference in the fuel pressure between the new reg and the stock reg so shes been running lean. On the dyno she sprung a big coolant leak at the back of the head so on the tow truck home... Now i have to pull the motor half out to fix what i think is a welch plug backing out. That sinco mani and 3076 though.... ????
  3. Finally drove the thing out of the shed and gave her a wash, im liking these 350z wheels, does the job. 20191020_175305_1.mp4
  4. Found the source of the noise, was a warped flex plate rubbing on the sandwich plate. Now she starts up and sound fairly decent, timing belt may need adjustment to stop the whirring noise. Next will be some rego and a s2 cluster and see how it drives. 20191018_171824.mp4 20191018_172110.mp4
  5. I said a "gt30 size??" Still to the average punter im sure they wouldnt be disappointed with a gt3076 on an RB30 or 25 engine or feel much difference on the road , i cant imagine a gt3576 being brilliant on a street car... Imagine a heavy auto stagea and waiting til 4-4.5k for it to do somthing.. boring!!
  6. Is good, my old.r33 had about 175 but anthing over 150 would be a good thing
  7. Awesome work mate! I put an RB30 in mine and hope to enjoy it soon when registered, they are very practical and i wont worry about it being stolen compared to my r33. As.far as turbo's id go a gt3076 size and a 0.63 rear to get the heavy thing on boost early, on E85 it will be a good combo as my r33 with 0.83 rear isnt that responsive til 3k.... Im still thinking whats the perfect diff ratio/ turbo combo is best and i have an RB30 in mine... They are a cool wagon for sure so enjoy ??
  8. Obviously an expensive ecu is the best option by far but the power fc still gets the job done and has a place. I been running a power fc with my RB3025 at 350kw for years on dedicated E85, its simple and does the job for those that want a simple solution, cost me $600 and a tune. Most tuners know a power fc and can tune it easily, i personally like the hand controller to look at knock and check sensors although i know the accuracy maybe not perfect. Just think cost, elite 2500 is 5 times the cost and for a simple street driven 300kw do you really need bells and whistles.
  9. Its been a while, i got the shits and left it parked in the shed. Recently i pulled the injectors out and had them cleaned. I was told that it took 80psi just to get them to open, was almost a throw away deal. Probably cause i left it parked for months, when i dismantled the fuel system i could feel the stickiness of parts. So i replaced reg, fuel lines, filter and injectors cleaned and she starts on all 6 now with very little cranking. Probably need a retune now, doesnt smell of fuel and very little knock on the power fc so must be close. I missed the sound of it coming on boost, is like a jet aircraft, plenty of fun ???? received_1139692989569807.mp4
  10. If its a street car the 3076 is enough, 345rwkw on mine with 16psi, id not go gt35 cause on the street response is most important at those lower speeds.
  11. I have results, comp test shows 197, 195, 200, 185, 205, 200. All timing marks line up and no decking or shaving and i used old 25 pistons and rings. Its better comp than i got on the RB3025neo but that has poncams.
  12. Hey i need some help I put together a RB3025 with the auto box and it makes loud screeching noise at first start up and then still can hear like a rubbing sound. Just wondering if i put the ring spacer in the wrong position. I put the flywheel on crank then spacer then the flywheel bolts then converter. Can anyone confirm the correct sequence or have a diagram?
  13. See in this video, its very noisy like loud screeching, this is without plugs in it. But suprisingly compression is high. 197, 195, 200, 185, 205, 200 Its high than my 2530neo but that has poncams so drops it a little. 20190711_101851.mp4
  14. Put the motor in and started her, theres a few noises that need investigating. The power steering is one noise, the other im not sure but maybe somthing common to stageas, its like a plate rubbing or in the auto box. The sound of it cranking is shit compared to my r33, maybe is the starter..
  15. The RB3025 neo is a totally different beast to a 25. The part throttle torque on the street, the early spool and the sound of it is awesome. Id never leave it 25 again, i find a 25 too lazy.
  16. Option 5- drop an RB30 bottom end in and gain bulk torque ?
  17. Dam.. this thing was a bitch to get in the bay... took hours to get the angle right and i may need to slot the mounts as she looks to sit high.. im craving to hear an RB again..
  18. She's a big unit, auto spigot bush was a prick to remove but on the home stretch.
  19. Progress being made, its fairly hard to turn motor, my arm says 150psi ish haha
  20. I decided not to use hastings, im not happy with them, was big mistake buying them. My engine is a budget slapper build so seeing as the RB25 i had was in great running condition i decided to use its pistons and rings ( 0.40 top ring gap). The americans can keep there sloppy rings and pistons.
  21. Will be interesting to see what the comp test shows.. anything over 150 will be a win.
  22. New rocker cover gaskets, cam seals, vct feed on, new exhaust mani studs
  23. Coming together, have shimmed the pump 3mm and left RB30 restrictors in the block. RB26 oem head gasket and RB25 oem head bolts. Vct mod done and bung in old feed. Handy having your old man thats a retired fitter and turner, i hate having to trust machine shops. I love the process of building these RB3025's, everything just works together so well. After seeing how well my RB3025 in the r33 works id never be happy with a 25 again.. Should be easier from here..?
  24. I pulled 2 RB25's and an RB30 apart recently and they just arnt worn much at all. There is a larger ring end gap than factory but even the std size hastings rings had a bigger end gap than a 30yr old nissan ring. They build them good from the factory.
  25. On mine though they are fairly advanced and i dont have pinging issues on E85, i do have high comp though. Just somthing to consider.
