  1. If you need a tuner that wont rip you off, id go see GAVIN WOOD at Labrador, he's very experienced with skylines, go and have a chat. Actually if you are decelerating QUICKLY from 4th your in torque lockup so its got a lot of gears to change down in a short time, might be expected with an auto, I once had an R31 that had a slipping box, so they increased the oil pressure and it started holding onto top gear too long and stalling every time I came to a stop.
  2. Yeah there's always someone quicker, I'm not a holden fan but for a daily driver and long trips they are great, I'll leave the drag racing for the R33 and keep it to the track. cheers for the help guys, will post a dyno sheet and comparisons when she all done
  3. Just couple of suggestions Air is leaking out eg. an ill fitting intake manifold so 19psi become 12psi and need fuel taken out? Alternator should be replaced with a stock unit?
  4. Hmm, not sure if you guys are joking, when I had the worked VS 5L I smashed a WRX on the highway, its funny when WRX guys with their loud exhausts get out noised and raped by an angry loud V8 or skyline, they just end up looking silly.
  5. sounds like good advice, they seem to work on LS1's a lot, actually thinking about them tuning it, as my tuner used there mainline dyno for my R33 so would be good to have a comparison between the two cars on the same dyno.
  6. have you tried the two on the same car? Ive asked quite a few exhaust shops and they cant give a definite answer, I spoke to Hi Torque Performance, and he said the 4 into 1 will be fine and they don't lose any bottom when tuned?? but need more opinions before spending this amount of money...
  7. Anyone know much about extractors? Im stuggling to decide wether to get TRY Y 1 5/8 with 2.5inch outlet OR 4 into 1, 1 3/4 with 3inch outlet... A few things ive read are that the 4 into 1's will give it a great V8 beat to it but may loose torque on bottom end, other people say that when the car is tuned you wont loose bottom end but gain everywhere and just to choose for sound? If the difference isn't that noticeable then im thinking the big 4 into 1's look the business.
  8. Looks angry mate, but probably a black carbon fibre with bulging vents etc might look better, wheels are meaty.. looking the business
  9. SS2 hypergear turbo install = where you been all my life
  10. Have you vacuum leak checked it? doesn't take much to make them want to stall. The highflow turbo might have found some weak spots like the plenum gasket, mine did, the top half is actually warped..
  11. vids of beast starting and brief drive??? 3.2L of goodness
  12. So is a PT6262 a good turbo for this combo? must be a decent size for a 3.2L to take 4000rpm to be spooled.
  13. Don't they run engines in on the dyno? thought the 1000km run in days were a thing of the past
  14. As new condition, been sitting in box for 6months, need the $$ for another project so selling it. Looking for $800. south Brisbane , 0466257118 NO LOW BALLING!!
  15. ^^^ yep , if they let you in the dyno room, that's a good sign too, mine did was loving it...
  16. I don't think you get better gas speed at all, not on a streeter, atleast not with the 6boost low mount I had, the pipes diameter and length and the merge collector were way bigger than a stock manifold. The merge looks massive to me, too big... Ryno's comment about a 1inch runner diameter sounds most effective to me based on my short experience. Maybe you could weld a tighter collector into a v band to raise the gas speed for response????
  17. That exhaust system in the pics looks identical to what I have, but mines 3 1/2inch and a 3inch large oval Xforce muffler on back and is perfect, sounds quiet enough and on boost nice... the muffler I have snakes inside the muffler and works great. heres a brief clip, pretty quiet, got loose in first 3 gears lol
  18. I broke 2 cas's by somehow not aligning them properly, don't ask how, but both times they idled weirdly and one time it went jerky and stalled and later found the shaft had broke off, so be careful, I actually bit scared to put that cover on anymore incase the shaft doesn't align straight , cant remember but theres some spacers or something involved...
  19. On the Di Fillippo website it actually talks about how they typically reduce the pipe size after the diff to keep gas speed up and that's what creates the best sound, but my catback system is 2 1/2inch to the tip, I had a worked VS ute before this one, had stroker, cams, diff gears, 3inch exhaust but only a 2.5inch tip pointed to the ground, every time it started it was like the world was about to end, could hear it from blocks away, I'm gonna just run it for a few thousand km's, drive it like I stole it lol
  20. so do they drone less after a 1000km's? Might be worth leaving it on for a few thousand km's if its going to get better, the sound I thought it was going to make was the sound that it made with the resonator taken off the back , so just the 2 center mufflers and open at the diff, nice and deep, meaty. and yeah drone is at that 1300-1600rpm, right where the auto likes to be on a cruise.
  21. Do the rules apply to the whole system or would having say a 2.5inch tip or silencer in a 3inch system/ muffler affect power in a big way?
  22. interesting, thanks for the info ben exactly what Im after...
  23. so to clarify is the exhaust size universal, eg 2.5inch gets your 250kw, 3inch for 300kw etc as a rough rule?
  24. interesting then cause ive got a 3inch jap muffler sitting in shed, sounded pretty angry on the rb but quiet on idle and cruise, be interesting to fit it up, pitty I cant weld myself cause exhaust shops are a rip off, the cannon could be hidden from view so wouldn't be seen, just a 3inch pipe
