  1. I think maybe the coilpacks failed when you heard the machine gun noises at 30psi, have you checked the engine compression after that event? Why is the voltage of the Z32 important, pretty sure that's accounted for in the tune , mine never had a problem with 320kw, the high fuel consumption and roughness sounds too much like a vacumn leak, I had same issue after a few 20psi runs, overboosted to 25psi in third and now cyl 5 is low in comp and it runs rough similar to yours. The intake manifolds warp over time too, which I never thought could happen, they have to be perfectly flat to seal. Downshifting with a vacumm leak will make it loose power because your under vacumn and therefore running very lean, on boost it will drink because its bleeding the air away. But if that was the case it should run like a pig most of the time. If there is a leak, then that could explain why it isn't knocking in third now when it did before or possibly because its lost some compression from the machine gun damage.
  2. Will be going 4inch dump on mine, then 3 1/2inch back to help it breath..
  3. cant you figure out whats doing with an hour on the dyno? or find a tuner that can monitor/tune it while driving it on the road.
  4. I can remember having a shudder/jerking at around 1500rpm on a light throttle, I was told it was related to the TPS so maybe look into that too
  5. If the white smoke wasn't there before you changed the turbo's then its probably just the turbo's that have worn seals, here a thread to read, http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/428674-rb25det-blowing-white-smoke-after-track-day/
  6. A stainless exhaust can make a similar noise when tapped, on take off the exhaust will tend to move/vibrate more also if there was some loose fragments of broken cat converter, they could be tapping inside the pipes.
  7. You say it mostly happens on hills so I am thinking its something with the fuel system, maybe the pump is not installed/plumbed up properly and starts sucking up air or dropping pressure. Is this in an R33, cause I don't think 044's are a direct fitment meaning it may have not been done properly.
  8. I found Gavin Woods on the Gold Coast to be a great tuner, he knows Power Fc's.
  9. ah ok, I get it now, different expansion rates due to the piston thickness around the pin etc
  10. how could they seal if they weren't round?
  11. Id say your talking mm there, so factory would be 1.5ish to 2ish thou clearance, so in that case you have about 4 1/2thou which is a lot for a cast piston. Did you have much piston slap and blow by when it was running?
  12. Yeah it is, its a 44mm tial, fairly bulky but just fits in there nice.
  13. Can get great results with an external and with stock manifold, my previous setup Should also look at the Hypergear thread for ideas
  14. Yeah car looks good mate, my bro has the hypergear SS2 and it sounds awesome, so looking forward to the vids and updates
  15. Another Angry RB for those interested..
  16. Ok, so its slow but the project has a heart beat still, lol.. Have ordered a GT3076 with 0.82external housing coming Monday, pictures then for those interested.. But to outline the plan and those in the know can add input if im going off track ENGINE Stock RB30 Block rebuild with Stock NEW RB25 pistons ( 1.5thou piston-bore clearance), rings, king bearings? , balanced, new RB25 Balancer, cleaned, Block decked flush Reuse/check RB25 oil pump and bolt on all other stuff from my RB25 Compression- approx. 9.5 and dedicated E85 and see what she can do with 20psi on the dyno then pull back to 1bar daily Face head and clean exhaust ports Turbo- GT3076 0.82 external with a Tial 44mm and using stock manifold which will be port matched Exhaust- 4inch dump and reuse my 3.5inch I have Fuel- 1000cc Xspurts or thinking 2000cc Xspurts if they still idle etc properly cause they are shorter plus reg and rail Other stuff Splitfires and Z32 to work with my Power FC and Apexi AVCR Purpose- Massive torque between 2500-6500rpm.. oh and I picked up some 34GTR wheels, will try to take some better pictures later.
  17. interesting what looks like support bars for the turbo/manifolds, certainly can be a heavy load hanging off the manifolds on modded cars. Is that to stop the manifold cracking under hot racing conditions?
  18. no probs. Bought from member "MR 33" last year and hasn't been used yet, he made 270kw's I think and didn't report any boost issues.
  19. selling the following R33 Stock Turbo- hardly any play, no smoke...........$300 Exhaust- turbo back, is quiet........$50 Afm- works well .............$50 Injectors- good condition..........$50 Wheels- Good condition , 2new tyres and 2 have lots of tread......$300 south Brisbane Mark 0466 257 118
  20. Selling a GT30 turbine housing , internal gated with a 14psi actuator I bought this with a RB25 build in mind but changed my mind and going the RB30 route so its no use to me now, on MTQ these housings go for over $800 plus the actuator so im looking for $350 FIRM... It appears to be in excellent condition, I'm located in South Brisbane Mark 0466 257 118
  21. In the GTX3067 thread it was expected that the compressor wheel being small would spool up fast, but with the 0.82 rear it would seem to be very on par with a GT3076 meaning that the GT30 turbine has a big say in how things spool. So in the case of a HTA3582 can you be that confident that it would spool that much earlier than a normal GT3582 based on the GTX3067 results? To go down the HTA35 route It would have to be giving a good push in the seat around 3000rpm to justify the expense over a cheaper GT3076 on a Dedicated street car, being GT35 hotside with stock manifolds and pistons it would might not be able to justify itself being there as far as its power potential, and a GT3076 RB30 might leave it behind in the short city streets where the 2500-6000rpm is probably the sweet spot? that's assuming they don't just leave black lines everywhere.
  22. What is the going cost of a Hta3076? I'm thinking if on an RB30 with a GT3076 vs Hta3076 you would notice much difference with 18psi.
  23. You can possibly use a smaller diameter runner exhaust manifold and stock cams and increase the compression upto 9.5.. A good boost controller and tuner too.
