  1. looks fully hecktic that rear housing, would suit an ebay ECU and Injectors lol...
  2. My system is simply a 3 1/2inch jap system cat back, cost $200 from wrecker then I replaced muffler with a 3inch Xforce and a 100cell cat, so probably all up $700, seemed to flow well enough, stainless too so cheaper than getting it all made up, ive had the nur spec 4inch muffler which is basically a massive loud cannon piece of crap, and the jap muffler HKS etc is basically a restricted crappy cannon that looks fully sick and sounds hektic, so that counts for something lol...
  3. That's awesome, its the school girl giggles that make everything worth doing, great to hear your enjoying it Was she getting loose? love it when they break traction in anger
  4. interesting how you say the GT2871 56T turbo's were laggy and surged because I had one in highlflow form inside stock housings and I can tell you I had no surge issues, it pulled hard from 2500-3500 and then sizzled out thru to the top end with only 214kw.. so didn't have much to offer my engine. the GT3067 has pissed on that from my view point, although the tuner didn't really push it to its potential in my case, so it should of gone 230kw's I think. My thinking of this whole situation is that an RB25 is a naturally revving motor, it really likes revs and is really suited to a turbo that goes hard after 3500rpm, anything before is really working against its nature. The Mafia's setup should be the minimum setup in my opinion as it gave the motor some breathing right at its point of wanting it ( around 3200rpm and over) , its not an RB30 so why try to make it like one with a small turbo combo that runs out of puff up top.. Best to work with the engines natural characteristics which seems to be a free reving no restrictions 3500-7000rpm, more boost the more angry it gets and this is the sweet spot, GT30 is like a perfect marriage and with E85 its orgasmic, just look at matts results. The GTX3067 is an attempt to force the RB25 into being a torgue monster which it isn't really, but might come close with a 0.63 rear but the top end will suffer which the motor really doesn't suit.
  5. looks alright, will have a look in autobarn for it tomorrow, cheers
  6. Think ill be going soft and opting for some cast pistons, just want a quiet torquey 300kw's, I think it should be decent with the E85 etc.. If I went forged I'd have to change my goals and push for 400kw's, tempting but expensive. thanks all for the good advice.
  7. sounds like what I experienced with mine, the intake manifold is warped and would never seal properly, squrt some carby cleaner on the plenum gasket and see what happens, mine was playing games with me cause it seemed to run ok but then at times it would just stall when starting or reversing, also when I converted to E85 the cold start was too lean and gave stalling when cold.
  8. yeah brown bottle, it has good compression 200psi across the 6, goes well but bit of blow by and a constant dull piston rattle/slap, was thinking bout putting a loud muffler on put probably still hear it. think ill try a 20w - 50w then, any good ones or anything do for the taxi motor lol
  9. You'd probably get lower underbonnet temps and the dump etc is shorter and less obvious looking, but its a pain to fit , I was bit disappointed with the twin scroll, quite laggy in my case, maybe the use of twin gates would of made it more responsive im not sure but gave up on it.
  10. I have a perfectly good 0.63 internal gate housing sitting here if you want to swap, you could have it done over the weekend.. I cant use it for my RB30 build , Even a GT3076 can be limited with a 0.82, mine was knock limited at 280kw so not all engines will make what they even should with a said combo, Mafia has proved the 0.63 can do 320kw with water/meth and Matt showed 360 odd kw with the 0.82 so its kind of a no brainer really that the 0.82 is well beyond the GTX3067's capability, so 0.63 and some water/meth would see maximum response and results. It would probably jump out of its skin with a 0.63 and water/meth, and a tuner that will put more time into perfecting it.
  11. Best options are E85 or Water/meth and retune or RB30 bottom end all above options are a lot cheaper and better
  12. If its only for a few minutes that would be ok, but i would imagine that constant rocking over time for a street engine will lead to accelerated wear, scuffing, even development of some cracks in the skirts with a 4032 being brittle compared to the 2618. The engine rebuilder i spoke to says the stock pistons crack up the skirt and the top ring landing also cracks from heat and is weak, although a lot of people run big power fine with them. what pistons and clearance do you have? has the slap got any worse over time or same? SCANDO- how is that trial engine running, any updates , how much power did you run through it etc..
  13. shit, looks like some dangerous power there, wow
  14. put her in 3rd and smoke them hehe!! arrr de de de de!!! don't hit a pole though or you'll look like a loser with a tow truck in the morning lol
  15. on the dyno graph it looks like it hit a wall around 4000rpm then regained its path, maybe its because of the boost curve or the VCT? still a decent bottem end though with that lowish boost and 98. More time spent fine tuning it and raising some boost in the right places would probably bring 200kw plus at that 4000rpm point and give it a different feeling to drive again, unless it was deliberately held back due to knock levels at that point.
  16. ah ok, finding it hard to decide what is best for my application, as a street car with some time at the drags The availability of stock rb25pistons seems limited, RHDjapan sell them for $570 plus delivery so after delivery and buying some rings im almost at the price of forgies. The issue with Forged pistons is that they seem a little overkill for a street engine with 300kw, and they also can suffer cold start slapping. Is there a forged piston that can run a tightish clearance and doesn't have piston slap, im assuming that at about 3thou piston slap starts to occur and from there on it will accelerate wear in an engine that see regular cold starts and used as a daily. Thinking of the possibility of reusing my RB25 pistons or wether they would likely be a weak link from the many years and km's of previous abuse, this is supposed to be a budget build.
  17. How hard would it be to put a Hta compressor wheel on rather than change the housing? She might break free of the dyno then..
  18. ^^agreed, but its more than a weapon, its angry, raw, loose animal that's almost outa control, in the 4wd you could probably eat your Macca's in one hand safely, in the skyline you'd spill your coke. lol
  19. can anyone recommend some oil or additive to quiet down a falcon with piston slap, has this to some degree 100% of the time, I am using fully synthetic Valvoline 10w 40 with 1L of Lucus oil stabiliser, wondering if I should go that thick penrite 20w 70 or not.
  20. Would RB26 pistons be ok in an RB30 block with decking? would they work or are the RB25 pistons more sensible? This is using a non-neo RB25DET head with tomei cams, trying to get minimum 9:1comp
  21. Might want to check the compression and timing, then put the splitfires back in and check for leaks with carby cleaner. Injector O-rings lubed? We are assuming the setup was tuned before not just someone elses nistune from ebay with an Ebay special turbo bolted on ?
  22. I don't think an EVO is a good comparison to a GTs-T, you should compare it to a GTR as they both great on a track and why cant you just have your 300kw at 18psi and then drop the boost for the streets, eg 10psi on a gt3076 should still be fun. If you don't have 300kw then maybe you will feel inadequate wether you can use it or not, so get your 300kw and do some swinging either way.
  23. I never wanted 300kw to hose off anyone, it was the pure sound and ability to lay rubber like butter when the torque comes on, Evo's and WRX's can be quick but sound boring to me. Go to the drags and even a 10sec V8 or EVO gets boring, watching a pissed off RB is more exciting.
  24. yep best experience ever seeing an rb getting pissed on a dyno, sounds amazing when they are pushed hard, my tuner Gavin Woods at Autotech (plug here) great bloke, wouldn't tune it without me there
  25. mine sounded just right with a 100cell 4inch cat, 3 1/2inch system with 3 1/2inch jap resonator and a 3inch Xforce muffler, that's all, sounded like quality and just like a well breathing engine not a shit loud muffler and crap breathing engine
