The TS T3 0.82 seems big enough for street driving, if a T4 is bigger then id not want the trade off in response.

Angryrb's R33 Street Sweeper
AngryRB replied to AngryRB's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
No real updates here, I fixed the leaking manifold and shes running sweet, just waiting on dyno availablility, early days but im loving driving it already, in third and forth it pushes me into the seat on just 1bar.. tuner said the tune will be more like a touch up, its running low in knock at moment less than 20.. random pics Got the windows tinted, pretty dark in the back and lighter for the front windows This is the new manifold I bought secondhand, powercoated apparently, ended up using no gasket at all but can see the manifold and topfeed rail etc in this pic Got these mats off a fellow SAU member, very happy with them.. -
was looking at the supra site and found this, is this pretty much the same as Hypergears VNT? http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?530737-Turbo-matching-for-the-road-course...plotting-success/page5

That noise sounds like what my car does but worse, mine has 180k's , new belt and no cover so be interested to know what causes the noise, any pics of the car?
-
sounds like the heads warped, did you check it with a straight edge? also you can use some Hylomar in aerosol can for the head gaskets to help it seal off.

R33 Rb25Det Running Rich On Idle
AngryRB replied to Dose Pipe Sutututu's topic in General Maintenance
I can remember mine running rich with a stock ecu, used to puff out a little black smoke just reversing but was never a problem. -
Had some success today, rechecked for leaks and found one around a clamp on the intercooler pipes, sealed it up and she's idling good, took for a drive and she's pulling fairly hard at 0.8bar, but wont know till it hits a dyno with 20psi.. so that's with using no gasket and just hylomar and bolted down...
-
Well I finally put the whole thing together again, this time without any gaskets, I used the hylomar blue and bolted it up tight, first couple of starts it stalled straight away with some weird knocking noises, 3rd time it started and sounds like a WRX with some knock noises so I left it at that... Im guessing this means theres a shit load of leaks this time, How much is a good price if I pay a mechanic to strip, machine and reassemble it for me???? yeah ive been tightening them from the middle and gradually working my way to the outside bolts,
-
yeah it does have a very slight warp which the engineering shop said was hardly anything and that it must be how im bolting it up, will see how I go today bolting it up without the gasket altogether, fingers crossed
-
I tried scraping most of it off and still squeezed out, my old man suggested I just use the Hylomar and remove the gasket all together so im going to try that..
-
tried the hylomar today and its squeezing the gasket out when I tighten it up, what a b@#stard! now the get the crap off..

like a jet aircraft entering the track at 59sec.. mmm GT3037 goodness -
Yeah that's what I thought, taking it too another mob tomorrow which have quoted 80-120 per flange, bought a second whole manifold few days ago and it too is warped, im going to stick with stock manifold because from reading forums it sounds like the most ideal design etc for a street car... can anyone confirm, should I be using any gasket goo for the fitment or bone dry and clean?????? sounds like a silly question but this will be about my 4th time with this and its becoming a joke..
-
maybe it was overheated, the old exhaust manifold was warped but that's bit different, wondering now wether the cylinder head along the flange would be warped too, will get these bits faced anyway..
-
took the manifold to the engineering shop and all the flanges are warped upto 0.5mm, and to have them faced is $480, that's for 3 facings Is it normal to have this happen on an intake manifold, or maybe its meant to be like that and the rubber OEM gasket takes up the gaps?
-
picked up the OEM gaskets from the dealer today, asked the guys behind the counter and one guy said the manifold Is likely warped and to get it faced, the other guy said the OEM gasket wasn't designed for high boost and wouldn't handle more than 10psi and I should get a steel gasket made up.. Got me considering welding it or having some kind of steel spacer made up.. opinions??

no probs, see in the pic on my first post the hose on the left goes to the top row of ports on the tial the 2 hoses on the right of the solenoid - one is plumbed just after the turbo compressor, cold side the other plumbs into the bottom row of ports all other ports are plugged, the solenoid works by bleeding off air until you want more boost than the spring pressure , in that situation it forces are to the top port to help the spring keep the gate closed. which is what the diagram in the manual in the above link shows ... hope that helps

the last few tanks havn't smelt as sweet so im looking forward to some higher doses from united, when ive sorted out these leaks and its dyno time, how far do you guys think I should push it? would it be bad to push it upto 340kws even just for a couple of runs.. ive been debating it for a while.. also heres some pics, I think by the looks of this one that one half of the plenum was not sealing off does this look like a crack? every cylinder has it so im assuming its a casting mark, Looks like the ethanol/water droplets on the valves -

well back when I put the GTX on it started leaking on the way home after the dyno runs, that was with the OEM Nissan gasket, then I replaced it with another OEM and it leaked shortly after then this time I tried the cosmetic gasket and its been worse, so now i've replaced the bottom runners and trying again with another OEM gasket, -

Missed tune day but probably for the best as been having trouble with the manifold plenum leaking, was using a cosmetic gasket and tried tightening the bolts more which helped but then it cracked and no im in the process of fitting a replacement manifold. Hope it works out this time, theres some United servo's that have opened up nearby and sounds like its better than Caltex so might be even better for my setup -
ive had that problem of the stalling so will be interested to hear if you fix it, once you get it tuned you'll be loving it, nothing like an angry rb and E85 is a must also talk to injectorsonline, they'll help you... another great supplier
