  1. got myself another manifold and have taken the old one off, Anyone have tips here to ensure a tight seal on both manifold to head and plenum to lower runners? this new manifold has been powder coated so should I sand paper that off at the flanges to create sanded surface or does it not matter? want to do this right first time so to speak... use any gasket goo or leave clean and just assemble?
  2. Yeah I don't really want this to get overly complicated, its a massive PITA cause was hoping to get it tuned Cars been jerky and had a constant miss for the last year, pretty sure this was the cause so just want to fix it once and for all so I can ram some boost down its throat. hmm, might get new lower half runners and new OEM gasket and torque to exact specs and see what happens, theres no room to get a torque wrench in there so will have to put together out of the car this time then bolt it to the head, if it leaks again ill just torch the car .. lol
  3. yeah its the plenum gasket, the OEM one is a thick rubber style gasket, its interesting how the Neo has a different bolt pattern, it looks like maybe the factory had this issue and so they doubled the number of bolts at that side or swapped the configuration around. so I have two options 1) get another manifold, gasket and try again which ive lost faith in it ever sealing off for long 2) Pay a fabricator to butcher it up around where the fuel rail goes so I can still fit the top feed rail on and weld it solid shut, so 100% leaks gone forever.. number 2 is a PITA and number 1 is 50/50gamble.
  4. bit of a dilemma, 3gaskets ive tried now and back to square one, if its possible to get the injectors in once its welded it sure would resolve this constant issue, OEM gasket leaks after some high boost runs and this cosmetic ones leaking without boost.
  5. that's a good point, dam this intake leak shit..
  6. if I did then ill still have this leak issue, just cant seem to seal it off properly.. welding it would be 100% guarantee of no leaks wouldn't it?
  7. I just opened up a can of worms with this today, after starting it and tightening up the bolts a bit more, sprayed some more carby cleaner and its leaking, closer look and its developed a crack so, can I just have this welded together permanently, is it possible and any issues that would occur doing that?
  8. The area that seems to be leaking is where ive replaced the stock bolts, the bolts used have washers on them and nip really tight and still leak, so not sure what to do now.. wonder if the Loctite hardened before it got tightened up the first time and has created some uneven surface between the plenum and gasket.. should i buy a stock gasket and try again?
  9. yeah its a stock plenum, the stock bolts have a unthreaded length on them and i think there bottoming out before its tight enough, but then at the same time im not sure if im over tightening it causing it to push out, ive been spraying it with so much carby cleaner testing it that it might be affecting the gasket now maybe. should i be using any type of gasket goo/sealent or just gasket by itself? 2 bolts on the outside/fender side keep leaking even after tightening the shit out of them with some different bolts that have thread all the way to the bolt head.
  10. This is getting really frustrating so im after some opinions on this, i seem to have constant leaks around the plenum gasket and ive tried the stock and at the moment have the cosmetic gasket on. A few things im not sure about are the actual bolts seem like they bottom out before they really nip up, the cosmetic gasket is flat and the stock one has a ridge around the cylinder part which maybe is better for sealing, although it seams to squish when trying to really tighten it up. help please...
  11. nice quality 32 mate, I want those defi gauges!!
  12. Looks like a stock head would be fine with some Tomei cams
  13. Been using Mobil1 oil for 50k's now with 180k on motor, used the 0-40w with no oil burning, I was drawn to it because it says recommended for GTR,Porche etc but been using 5-50w now for some extra thickness with 320kw. Id like to try penrite or motul but am brand hore. Whats the story with the Penrite tenth oil, says it has added Zinc which is good but still rated SL/SN, would that mean that its Zinc levels arnt really significant? if they were it would be like an SG or something?
  14. Haven't read all the pages but would one of your Hi flows be very close to the dimensions of a HTA3076 or that comp wheel be replicable in billet? be interesting to see a HTA3076 in VNT
  15. sell for manual with mods asap, not worth it
  16. don't know bout octane booster, would be cheaper to just add a mix of E85 wouldn't it?
  17. 600cc is more than enough for 300kw on 98, the nismo 555cc are common with 300kw..
  18. hey it was a wrecker in brissy, slacks creek on moss st, was $200 for the catback which was a 3 1/2inch stainless system with quiet muffler, which I have for sale if interested, so pretty good value id be reluctant to spend 1.2k on an exhaust, spend the money on an ecu and turbo the exhaust doesn't have to be fancy and shiny, theres guys selling in classified so have a look at that before wasting on a brand new system.
  19. I'd get a second hand Jap system from the wreckers, that's what I did, The HKS mufflers ive seen are basically a big hollow cannon with a restrictor inside, I have a fujitsubo muffler that's identical gives the same sound for sale, there quiet down low but get angry on WOT.. I think what your after is either a Jap system/ muffler with restrictor or a proper oval muffler on the end such as an Xforce,
  20. thanks for the input guys, all good now, tuner setup it up for me today same as above link, the solenoid is actually meant to vent air off if running spring pressure and when adding more boost it uses that air to push on the spring to adjust boost higher than spring pressure. if that makes sense.
  21. ive been battling the same issues, try some Carby cleaner ( obviously not round electrical or exhaust parts) around the plenum and silicon joins, also can do a pressure check, see Hanaldo's build for smoke test
  22. ok thanks for that link, ive studied that and its clear that its hooked up wrong, but im still trying to understand why when I hooked up compressed air to the system that the "NO" was leaking out air, this was with 0.3Bar with combined 14psi springs in the gate.. could the solenoid be stuck open or is definitely due to being plumbed up wrong?
  23. Does this look like its setup right? the left hose is connected just after the compressor, the Tee feeds 2lines to the tial 44mm which has both hoses on the bottom row of ports, should there be one on the top and one on bottom instead? the hole with nothing in it is labelled "NO", and when doing a pressure test for vacumn leaks it was leaking massively, is that normal ?
  24. Cars booked in for a tune on Thursday, sorted the wastegate out today and put 3springs in it which are supposed to combine to give 14psi, one down side to the Wastegate location is it took me most of the day just to change the springs, be easier with a car hoist id say.. also did an oil change and filter to prepare for some punishment and fixed a second leak around the plenum Been checking for leaks with the Carby Cleaner and cant find any more, will try the smoke testing idea hopefully tomorrow. Can anyone confirm how to hook up the tial 44mm to the AVCR? I've hooked it up with 2 lines going into the bottom row of ports , all others plugged , but maybe it should be one line to the bottem and one line to the top and block all others..
  25. yeah sounds like a gasket flap
