  1. maybe the old belt must be a bit stretched because its a little shorter and was bloody hard to get on it and now its pretty much spot on, the exhaust cam looks slightly advanced but close enough.
  2. yeah the GTX3076 feels like a big turbo, been doing alot of street driving lately and its slightly annoying the lack of urgency low in the revs, been considering changing over to a GT3076 with 0.63 external with E85, do you guys think this would keep the top end still , even if more boost is needed?
  3. does anyone know how accurate the timing marks are? ive just taken everything off and have it all lined up to the marks, the crank is spot on but the cam wheels are both slightly off, but that might be just the way it is, probably need adjustible wheels to get things perfect???
  4. yeah i put those spacers on with the gasket, i learnt the hard way and broke two CAS due to incorrect spacing and alignment and i broke the gear off the cam too, bloody expensive mistakes!
  5. Make sure you are using the proper Steel gasket for the dump pipe, if you get given one that looks like paper between two sheets of aluminum then give it back cause it will leak, tighten the bolts a little at a time and evenly, and dont cross thread anything or you will want to cry and swear alot
  6. not sure what you mean, i replaced that outer rubber gasket and just bolted up as normal, the sound is definitely the belt, although the engine does make kind of a mitsubishi magna sound which might be the cas?
  7. yeah, ive got the new belt so ill take it off road til its done im just wondering if this noise will come back if i keep the cover off, i kept cover off cause it seemed noisey with it on and i broke 2 CAS's and was worry it was contributing at that time.
  8. hey, my timing belt has become noisey, i know its the timing belt because a mechanic friend dripped some water on the belt and the noise dissappeared for a day then came back, its like a SSSS-SS-SSSSS-SSS-SSSS-SSS noise if you know what i mean. The belt is due for a change, but appears good still with no cracks etc. Question is , ive had the front cover off and the belt and pulleys are exposed to the air, so would this being doing somthing to the belt? and will the new belt make this noise after a short time due to being exposed too? timing belt has done 65000k's
  9. Gavin woods if you dont want to be ripped off
  10. Id be looking at VL calias turbos, one with a sunroof would be sweet
  11. dam that turbo is good, feel like selling my gtx to get some more whistling happening lol... nice small track, looks like you could do with a long straight to open it right up
  12. is there a torque graph for comparison? i had a boost leak in that graph too, also your curve was started earlier at 30k's and mine at 60k's, and we both at full 15psi by 3800rpm, interesting how the bigger turbo compares , although the build up of boost is quicker on the GTRS.
  13. sort of related , my volts on start up are up at 15, and the battery lights on, this could be due to changing from a gtst dash to a gtr dash but even the tuner mentioned it was a bit high, so do i need to replace the alternator and problem solved?
  14. so the dyno shows full throttle reaction, so at full throttle theres zero difference in 4th gear, i would of thought a small turbo would be ahead early on even in forth, my only comparison is my old 2871 hiflow which might of felt like it had a BIT more response( certainly earlier boost) but the GTX would soon round it up and by 3500rpm blow it away. seems like a massive compromise for some bottem end torque.
  15. first one is 98 only, slight 18psi spike in mid, but still comparable really, same as one in blue below but that ones in HP but is the same boost curve in the blue.. and no fancy manifolds just a stock one seconds just to show the difference with more boost and eflex
  16. can anyone give me a link to a thread that talks about minimal rb30block prep, just considering the cost on a budget..
  17. its interesting how people are looking at that dyno graph thinking thats great, cause my gtx3076 on 98 dyno graph is pretty much an exact replica of that one above, even the boost is reached at the same point, id be keen to drive it to compare to mine, surely the dyno doesnt lie that much compared to the street, mine was on a mainline dyno which is supposed to read lowish..
  18. that kinda happens when on gate thru tunnels , hehe
  19. how much power you running ARTZ, 400km on ethanal = nanny driving
  20. you've actually got more than birds at 110 and 130km's, so its looking good, with water meth and boost you might make it close to 290-300
  21. Actually , in comparison to the others there not much difference, everyones around 250-260kw, your matching hypergears graph most of the way, it probably nothing to do with exhaust restriction, more about boost and engine condition and tune/timing etc, even different dyno ? thats looking pretty good for only 16psi.. id just replace cat and get it holding 18psi, could be 20kw's or more left in it
  22. bolt some ramps in, approach on steep angles and try to raise the exhaust more snug.. deal with council when it happens..
  23. why dont you also crank up some boost with a EBC, make it 19psi spike and hold 18.. then fry some tyres
  24. the cat is the problem, get a 100cell one that has no flanges at all, can send you some pics of mine if you want, its proven system.
  25. I went 4inch because it looks better and hopefully lets the turbo breath better, if the dump is bigger than the turbine, shouldnt the intake be bigger than the compressor for max hp?
